So looks like i got hit w/ my CSR AF yesterday too. I can use the $300 right now, correct? And it's still good at grocery? Can I use it on giftcards at Kroger? Not sure I have a travel cost I can push through right now, LOL. And then I call/SM and downgrade it to any freedom? I have the OG freedom, but that's the only one I currently have. Then I can upgrade it if I need the CSR features again? Or attempt the MDD? Has anyone done a MDD when applying in branch?

Still debating my game play w/ Chase. Sitting on 4/24, I've decided to churn Inks, working on the MSR on CIC#2. I've done CIP, which I PCd to CIC#1, then CIU, and now CIC#2. Can you did CIU #2 too? My issue of course being that once I try for a CSP or MDD, then I'm sitting at 5/24, or 6/24 until April or October. So I'll be out of the chase game again for awhile....I think I have all the Chase I want (churning IHG Premier #2, the free IHG hits 1 year 1/2022, I don't do Hyatt, I did the Marriott last Oct, I don't do Hyatt, etc). I hate being locked out of Chase since I was for sooo long before. It's like 5/24+ PTSD, LOL. I guess I need to review my "upcoming card" plan I have written out and see what my plan is.

Do we know if this messes up the $15k FNC? I'm like $100 away from earning it on my Surpass. Though I see most are only applying to the Aspire.

The $89 card is my FAV! The GE/TSA, cell phone coverage, and FNC! I love it, LOL.
I got my CSR in 2016 (was that the first year). My travel credit won't reset until December I believe. Although it is confusing!

Wow, I had a credit in my AA wallet from my cancelled Aulani trip last year, of $1222.23. They had extended it to 3/31/22. I just went into my account and it's gone.
Those darn kids....j/k. Hope you get it straightened out without too long a time on hold.

I'm trying Twitter. I don't think I will ever even use it, AA is worthless from here, but I don't want it to vanish before it expires, just in case!

When you buy visa gift cards at Staples, do you give your phone number for rewards? I don't want to miss out on potential rewards, although, I don't really shop at Staples much and I like to be under the radar. I lean towards not giving it, but hesitate everytime they ask and was wondering what everyone else does.

Delta biz gold fee hit. Chatted to cancel but asked for offers first. No offers, no attempt at retention. Canceled for now. Can always get another Delta card if needed.

Getting ready to swing by Shop Disney for "everything ships free" day. I don't think I need anything but might as well scan in advance of Christmas...

Thanks! I had the Operation game in my cart for months now and free shipping made me buy.

Anytime you can stack, you stack. This 'rule' applies to everything in this hobby. At Staples, gift cards are exempt for earning rewards- and they do not apply to moving into the next status category, but you never know if/when they are going to miss one. It's only 2% at Staples- but 2% is 2%. I always give it, but we buy other things there as well so it's more a habit than anything else.

I have a rewards account with Staples and I give my email. I've only had 1 instance where the cashier didn't give me the opportunity to add in my email at the checkout, plus request email receipt, which I find much more efficient, especially for anything I have to return. They give me a lot of receipt based offers also, such as 10 off 20 which I use for coffee pods.

Is the plan to go to a branch and look for the 100k offer? There's some uncertainty over how long you need to wait after you PC to go for the CSP in branch (it seems to work differently than online). 30 days was floated for awhile, but there are DPs of less. So far, for closing a card, people still say 30 days (in branch or online).

No Chase's near us here. So either PC and wait the 30 days or just close and then wait to re-apply.

DH is in this category too!

I don't give my number as the GC's don't count and the reality is, even if they make a mistake and count them for some reason, I only ever buy VGC's from there. I can also never remember which of our phone numbers the account is under and we already have chatty cashiers at our Staples and it iterates me. One always asks who's the lucky person getting the GC's, I'm like who do you think I am Daddy Warbucks? I tell her the electric company which then confuses her even more.:rotfl2:

I think I made a boo boo...

DD22 called me yesterday and we did some online shopping for furniture for her new townhouse which I applied to my current MSR. I have a Delta Biz Amex that I was thinking of canceling when the next AF hits (APR 2022). I started scrambling in my HEAD about large expenditures coming up (I STILL haven't gotten my final hospital bill which I was estimating as an approximate balance of $5500) with no MSR to apply them to. All this overthinking and it being late in the day, made me do something stupid even after ALL my hours of research...

I have a CIU for one of my businesses (EIN not my SS). I was planning to support a biz Chase card for P2 and then P2 can then support me later. All that pre-planning went out the window yesterday. I went into my Chase biz online account and generated a support link.

After making the decision that I probably will cancel the Delta Biz Amex card and thinking well then I will need a new card for that biz and I need a new MSR - I used the support link generated by Biz#1 to apply for the CIC for Biz#2 without further thought!! I got the dreaded we need more time to make a decision.

I haven't called the recon line yet because I'm wondering if I should tell them to forget about the application or get it approved. Biz#1 and Biz#2 are legitimate businesses with separate EINs but I am the principal on both companies (and thus both cards). So, would that negate the support bonus? If so, is it too late to call and ask them to withdraw the application for approval? Are there repercussions for doing so? I won't need a replacement card for biz#2 until about May. Are am I overthinking this?

How hard to apply for the CIC for P2 where he would be a sole proprietor? Can the approvals be instant or have applicants needed to call recently?

Can someone post the biz recon (CIC) phone number so I don't have to hunt for it?

Thanks!

It's pretty common to not get instant approval on Chase cards, especially business cards. I'm not sure it has anything to do with your self support. It used to be possible to self support until Chase put additional terms in. When that happened, I think most people just didn't get the support bonus. There may have been some people who were more egregious with it or had other issues that led to more adverse consequences.

I'm not really sure how calling recon would help. In your shoes, I think I would just wait and let it play out. Just to check, you used your name as the business name? And what's the industry?

I've only had to call recon once, when I first started this hobby. Went way too fast, tried to get 4 Chase cards in 4 months. 😓 It's embarrassing now lol. I did successfully get it through though. 😆

I'd withdraw the app asap. Self supporting is generally frowned upon. No P1 to P1. P1 to P2, okay. Withdraw and try again with a proper link from player 2 in 30? days.

I actually can't remember if this was a 'shut down' reason, but I wouldn't want to live in fear. I usually call the number on any card and get shuffled where I need to be.

The actual business name is the business name I used. It is a c-corp in business for 25 years. We actually do all our banking, including business, with Chase when it was still Chemical Bank. It is currently a (property) management consulting firm. It took me a while to figure out how to categorize it. I went the management route instead of the Real Estate route.

I don't think I will bother canceling the application. If they deny the support points. so be it. I just got a legal bill of over $5k to pay and they take cc! I'm anxious to get the card to pay the bill at this point. The due date is in 10 days.

I logged into the business account online and there is no application status on the menu as of yet.

I was thinking to call the recon line to try to push the application through faster? Or call our business banker that helped us apply for our last CIU card (different company)? It's a legitimate business with gross revenue and has $$ in Chase accounts and tax returns going back 25 years. Seems like it's harder for those applications then for ebay hobby businesses. Lol.

OTOH, I had to talk to the Chase fraud dept to verify my identity to get my CSP approved in September because I had forgotten I had put a fraud alert on my credit reports. I wonder if I need to verify my identity here as well because they did ask for my SS # in addition to the company EIN #.

I just don't want the application to be in limbo for an extended period of time. I can either give them any needed documentation or just have them reject me. I need another card MSR and don't want to apply for another card and have this approved a month later and then have too much MSR in a short period of time.

How to withdraw the application?

Call the recon line?

I probably won't use a support link from P2 (doesn't have any business cards). I would have P2 use a support link from P1 instead. I just didn't want to do that if the application got approved.

Can the IHG free night certs be used past the expiration date? For example, I have some that expire March 2022, and want to book a hotel for June 2022. Doable if I book before they expire? Or do they have to be *used* before expiration?

In that case, it's likely they want business docs. Good idea to call recon then to get it through faster. Usually the recommendation to not call is if people don't want to talk about their business, or approval odds are iffy.

That sentence I put in bold is actually rather true. I remember some time ago, there was someone applying under a corporation and they had a tough time with it. I used to never get instant approval with our rental business. But now I use DH's resale business and get instant approval. Go figure.

I can see @Judique 's point about withdrawing the application. I think it depends on your risk tolerance. I would be more worried if it was Amex since they're vindictive.

Thanks for all the hand holding.

I'm on hold calling Chase now. I think they are open until 7pm? Or is it 5pm? Will stay on until dinner is ready. If no pick up will call back tomorrow and let you all know what I decide to do based on what Chase tells me.

Thanks.

Eta: I got through to a rep but the verification dept that is handling the application just closed at 6pm, so I will need to call them tomorrow.

When do you guys decide to pay cash instead of using miles?
Unless I really feel a need to have the trip be "free" in my mind, I go with 1.5cpp for flights and .5 for Hilton. I've been very good with Delta, getting 1.7-2.4 cpp for all of my redemptions through them. SW is pretty much always going to be 1.6. I miss the days when I could find a Hilton for 10,000 points/nt. I was getting 1.1 cpp on Hilton redemptions.

When I originally booked my Christmas tickets, I booked 12/26 - 1/2 because DS has school 1/3. Then my SIL said they couldn't get there until the 24th because her kids were in school until the 23rd so they were going to stay at my parents until the 29th or so. That was too much overlap so I switched my tickets to 12/18 - 12/24. Now my sister wants me to switch them back. It would cost about 100k rr points. Not happening. My rr points are all going to flights to and from ATL at the moment.

Or call our business banker that helped us apply for our last CIU card
We tried this with our private client banker- and our business banker on some fairly recent cards. The credit card side of Chase has gotten pretty hardcore. Our PC banker or business banker used to be able to call and push things through- and if there were any questions on their end they were dealt with while sitting in the office- and by the time we left the cards were approved and on their way. Nowadays our PC banker makes any excuse not to call on our behalf. The best we have been able to do is get cards expedited- business cards by our business banker and personal cards through our PC banker. DWs CIP was overnighted and got here an hour ago- don't know where the heck my business card is, though- as she called to expedited them both with the same call. Maybe mine got mailed before she called or something. Sounds like you have a legitimate business with a long history- hopefully your call goes well. We just got off the phone with them for a credit card increase and it was the worst call we have ever experienced with them. What used to take a couple of minutes is now a ridiculous process requiring two representatives and a hard pull. Hope your call goes better than ours.
