CSR Annual Fee just hit. $550 is steep. Actually tempted to cancel. It's been four years since I've had a Saphire bonus and I'm at 2/24 but want to apply for a SW card soon.

DH's hit today too! Must be AF day at Chase. He called and no retention. I think he may either close it and go for a CSP or downgrade it. Not sure, I'm sure that will be tonights discussion.

Is the plan to go to a branch and look for the 100k offer? There's some uncertainty over how long you need to wait after you PC to go for the CSP in branch (it seems to work differently than online). 30 days was floated for awhile, but there are DPs of less. So far, for closing a card, people still say 30 days (in branch or online).

My fee just hit for my IGH premier card. Trying to decide if I really want to pay 4 IHG fees. Is the free night any more valuable for the $89 card than the $49 card?

I started using my PayPal key last week to pay for stuff online since I've met my aspire sub. I have $10 back as fees and adjustments for PayPal. Did I miss something on the freedom that they were giving $ back for using PayPal?

So confused and there's nothing on my PP about it so it's all chase.

My DH's hit today as well. The statement doesn't close until 11/26, so have to wait until then to use the travel credit. Hopefully the payment won't be due by then. Not showing a due date yet. Going to cancel his CSR but keep his CSP for transfers. I also have the CSR and CSP so don't need 2 CSR's in the family.

Chase Freedom (discontinued version) and Chase Freedom Flex 5x categories for 4th quarter include Paypal (up to $1500 spend)

I'm aware of that and it's why I'm using my PayPal key. It doesn't explain the $10 back that I got which is why I'm confused.

So looks like i got hit w/ my CSR AF yesterday too. I can use the $300 right now, correct? And it's still good at grocery? Can I use it on giftcards at Kroger? Not sure I have a travel cost I can push through right now, LOL. And then I call/SM and downgrade it to any freedom? I have the OG freedom, but that's the only one I currently have. Then I can upgrade it if I need the CSR features again? Or attempt the MDD? Has anyone done a MDD when applying in branch?

Still debating my game play w/ Chase. Sitting on 4/24, I've decided to churn Inks, working on the MSR on CIC#2. I've done CIP, which I PCd to CIC#1, then CIU, and now CIC#2. Can you did CIU #2 too? My issue of course being that once I try for a CSP or MDD, then I'm sitting at 5/24, or 6/24 until April or October. So I'll be out of the chase game again for awhile....I think I have all the Chase I want (churning IHG Premier #2, the free IHG hits 1 year 1/2022, I don't do Hyatt, I did the Marriott last Oct, I don't do Hyatt, etc). I hate being locked out of Chase since I was for sooo long before. It's like 5/24+ PTSD, LOL. I guess I need to review my "upcoming card" plan I have written out and see what my plan is.

Free night with $8k spend. Worked for my Aspire.
Do we know if this messes up the $15k FNC? I'm like $100 away from earning it on my Surpass. Though I see most are only applying to the Aspire.

The $89 card is my FAV! The GE/TSA, cell phone coverage, and FNC! I love it, LOL.

I feel your pain. With both the CSR- and the AmEx Platinum- increases. Used the Platinum to cover a couple of our upcoming trips’ flights in business/first at 5x since they were so cheap it was hard to justify using points. Also used it for 2 domestic trips earlier this year- so with saks, uber, clear, airline credit and the FHR offer it paid for itself and will keep it for another year if they offer a decent retention bonus. The other four trips we will cover the flights with points since they are long haul international. Will have to rely on the CSR since we have so much cash going out over the next several months for cruises. Got between 9.1% and 13.3% discount off the cruise list prices through cruise compete depending on the cruise line and type, so that helped quite a bit. Covered a bit with MS- but have to be conservative these days so didn't even put a dent in the balance due. Some we will pay down with new cards- take 3x on the CSR for the rest- and be done with it. With sign up bonuses and 2P referrals should still come out well above the 5x baseline even with having to put a huge chunk of the balances on the CSR at 3x (averaging it out so I don't feel so bad about the 3x CSR return-lol). So the CSR's a keeper– at least for another year- and with any luck we will wind up with about a million shiny new points to use going forward. At least one of us (and maybe both) will be at or over 5/24 with Chase for quite some time after the next batch of cards- but that's the way the chessboard is set up when playing this game these days- oh well.

I have 4 one way tickets booked on AA Premium Economy to Hawaii next month. I used 180k miles (45k/each). 787 Dreamliner.

I can now book them at a cash price of $1096 total. $274pp. This gives me a .006cpp redemption rate 😏 I’m wondering if I should rebook and pay cash. I value AA miles because AA is one of the biggest carriers in Phoenix. I’m thinking I can get better value out of my miles saving them for another trip. .006 seems bad even for AA.

When do you guys decide to pay cash instead of using miles?

DH got an e-mail for the Hilton $8000 spend FNC promo for his Surpass. But I tried it with that account number yesterday and it didn't work. Tried deleting it from the same online account as his Aspire and putting it in a different one, but that didn't work either. I wonder if it's like Amex Offers and you can only have it on one card. I see "Limited to 1 enrolled Card per Card Account" in the terms.

Oh well.

I would pay cash.

PHX is our hub as well. My vote is cash.

I value AA miles too, as I use them for my mommy get away vacas in NC. So if the priced OOP is "reasonable" I would pay for them. This summer I was going to use my IHG FNC at the Palazzo. Then I scored them for an AMAZING price w/ my MEA membership (I think it was $80/night). I figured I can get more than an $80 value using the IHG pretty much ANYWHERE. So if you think you can use the miles better later, I'd save them! I ended up using my FNCs last weekend in NOLA for my bday. I feel like we got a decent redemption :)

I have a minimum value I would redeem for. URs is 1.5 cpp, MR is 1.25 (old Schwab cashout rate 😢), 0.45 Hilton, 0.8 Bonvoy. Though Hilton and Bonvoy I find it hard when it's right near that value since I love the aspirational properties.

AA I'd value conservatively at 1 cpp, so I vote cash too. :)

I think I made a boo boo...

DD22 called me yesterday and we did some online shopping for furniture for her new townhouse which I applied to my current MSR. I have a Delta Biz Amex that I was thinking of canceling when the next AF hits (APR 2022). I started scrambling in my HEAD about large expenditures coming up (I STILL haven't gotten my final hospital bill which I was estimating as an approximate balance of $5500) with no MSR to apply them to. All this overthinking and it being late in the day, made me do something stupid even after ALL my hours of research...

I have a CIU for one of my businesses (EIN not my SS). I was planning to support a biz Chase card for P2 and then P2 can then support me later. All that pre-planning went out the window yesterday. I went into my Chase biz online account and generated a support link.

After making the decision that I probably will cancel the Delta Biz Amex card and thinking well then I will need a new card for that biz and I need a new MSR - I used the support link generated by Biz#1 to apply for the CIC for Biz#2 without further thought!! I got the dreaded we need more time to make a decision.

I haven't called the recon line yet because I'm wondering if I should tell them to forget about the application or get it approved. Biz#1 and Biz#2 are legitimate businesses with separate EINs but I am the principal on both companies (and thus both cards). So, would that negate the support bonus? If so, is it too late to call and ask them to withdraw the application for approval? Are there repercussions for doing so? I won't need a replacement card for biz#2 until about May. Are am I overthinking this?

How hard to apply for the CIC for P2 where he would be a sole proprietor? Can the approvals be instant or have applicants needed to call recently?

Can someone post the biz recon (CIC) phone number so I don't have to hunt for it?

Thanks!

Wish I could help here- but have never seen this issue before. My GUESS would be that since you are the principal that may negate the bonus- but I really have no clue. Each business has it's own tax number and files it's own tax return- so on the other hand you may be OK- like I said- have no clue-lol. As to business cards- ALL of mine over the years have been sole prop and I have never had to call the recon line- and we are talking many, many business cards. I just had one approved instantly 3 days ago. My wife is EIN based, but I'm not. So, at least there is a little help as far as what my experience has been as a sole prop.
