Just an FYI, I got a Citi Biz card in April, which I had to explain on my mortgage app. So obviously they report to credit bureaus. (Explaining wasn't hard, just another letter to write and a copy of recent statement)
It was probably the inquiry. I ran into that last fall with our mortgage - had to explain to CIP inquiries and send statements :rolleyes1 I just put that I got them for travel points and don't carry a balance.

I can still see the citi biz inquiries from wayyyyyy back when I thought I was going to start getting AA cards... and then it died lol.

Is the Barclays Biz the one that was hard to get. Like it needed documents sent in? Or am I thinking of a different card?
i was just approved for the barclay biz. No documentation needed but got the 7-10 message. After about 14 days I called and they said everything looks fine it’s just being processed. Said to watch for email in the next 24 hours...it was several days lol. Applied 6/20 approved 7/10. Still waiting for the card to arrive....
I’ve been trying to get the Barclays AA card for over a year, I know I applied at least 2 other times and sent documents in without getting approved. I applied again on 6/28 and was finally approved yesterday without having to even turn in documents! I also finally got the Citi AA biz after being denied for that a couple times. Maybe those 2 banks are trying to get more business and are being less strict on their approvals.

I know some of you have traveled to Alaska. Planning a June 22 trip (flying into/out of Anchorage) We will have 6 full days there. Any tips for deals or best use of points? I have some chase points but that’s about all (Hawaii drained us lol). My DH is open to any cards that could benefit us. CSP is out as we both have and I don’t think my DD20 could get one. We could probably do a $3000-4000 spend since our car insurance will be due soon and that would be a large chunk. I’m still working on getting AA miles with my Barclay personal (extra 40,000 mile offer) and the Biz card (if it ever comes).
Any help/advice is always appreciated!
Do you have a Chase Freedom? I know the SUB is minimal but it includes 5% cash back at grocery stores the first year up to $12K spend.

My DH just closed his. I was thinking of the Flex for him (I already have both). I do have a CSR to transfer his points.
Just trying to weigh all my options before he applies for something...

I think you and @Alexle2007 are actually saying the same thing. GE is not a benefit of the actual Gold card. It is a benefit of being authorized user on a Platinum card, of which there are 2 versions - a plat AU on plat and a free gold AU on plat. Which is very confusing and hard to specify!

I got it now. The Plat gold version is a plastic card and has the Global entry and can share incidental air credits up to $200. It does not get the stand alone Gold benefits, of 4x on groceries or the dining and uber benefit. My gold card does not get Global entry.

I was about to pounce on the benefit if it was something new.

Is 150k sign up bonus on the aspire good? I keep seeing better offers on the surpass and no fee but I have the surpass and don't want the no af yet.

Also is the fnc at the anniversary or do you get one with the card to start? The benefits explanation isn't clear to me.

The FNC comes right away Or close to it.I am actually considering it for DH since we could use the credit in FL.

I don't think the card reports, but the inquires on all biz cards do. Those do show up on your mortgage credit report. If the card did, they likely wouldn't have needed any info as they would have been able to see it on your report.

You are probably right but didn't have to explain any other inquiries. Maybe the others were too long ago, although we have 4 new cards this year.

Right now the CFF has the 5x on groceries the first year up to $12k…and this quarter the 5x bonus is groceries as well…so 9x URs on the first $1,500 this quarter

Ok so I still would want to try and wait til Sept to apply so I can hopefully use it at tdl. I'll be there a Fri night I could use it for with points for the other 3 nights.

I'm wondering if the new BA offer for a 100k avios with only a $5k spend is worth it? The fees on BA are astronomical.

Avios is great for short domestic hops. flew 3 ppl in AA F for 49,500 Avios.
I would say so. The fees are only insane if you are flying to/through London. The miles can be used on partner airlines for short haul flights and the fees are very nominal.
Thank you. I think this is a good next card for DH.

150K is pretty standard, I can’t remember seeing any elevated offers for that card. My anniversary date is in mid November and my FNC usually come beginning of January, so expect 6-8 weeks for the FNC to arrive.

Well DD20 went for the CSP that said on her chase account she had preapproval for and was denied. 🤷🏻‍♀️ The reasons they gave were

She used $15k for income which I thought might be too low but since her account said preapproval I thought she would get it. I’m not really sure what to make of the other reasons. She has had her Discover card almost 3 years and a CFU for at least 2 plus she is an AU on my oldest card plus 2 others. I think I’ll have her try for a SW instead. She was really bummed to get the denial but it may be karma because she didn’t even use my link! We had talked about it and she just went through her account link where the card was suggested for her. I don’t understand Chase.
Thanks for the data point. I was just thinking about trying this for my oldest college-age child, but I think I'll hold off.

Yes - you should see them in your comment history on Reddit.

Ok. Guess I need to work on my Reddit skills. DH is too busy/stressed to generate new links from his cards right now. As long as I don't have to re-invent the wheel I can post them when he has the time. Thanks.
