Looks like DS is getting a new AmEx card.View attachment 589570
DS will be getting his first Amex in a few months when he turns 13! Got the offer too and awesome that it doesn’t expire for awhile!
I got this offer too. So does it mean the AU will also get ALL the benefits like the airline credit too?

DH got it too. I was also wondering about the benefits? The email makes it sounds like they do. If they don't, I'll probably just go with the free gold card and go from there.

Is 13 the youngest a child can get a credit card? Also can I use mine and my wife's income for the application? My kids are very young but Citi doesn't have an age limit for an AU so I added both to my Double Cash card to start building their credit.

I'm replying to my own question,I don't think I saw an answer and I'm getting really curious about this now.... anyone? I can still just see his biz acct page, with the CiC, even tho the app was instant approval....

My experience with Chase is that they have asked for biz and personal accounts to have different logins. When I have asked for them to add the biz card to my personal login, they instruct me to create a new login for the business cards. Same is true for DH.

Just to clarify, you shouldn't apply for credit for a child ("can I use mine and my wife's income for the application?"). You should just add them as an AU to build their credit. I've done so with Chase for my youngest children.

AU doesn’t get their own airline credit, Saks, etc. Plat AU on a Plat gets lounge access. I think Gold AU gets GE/TSA precheck. I plan to do the free Gold.

Since it is only AU card, you only enter basic info plus SSN. For AmEx, 13 is the youngest for personal. They need to be 18 for the Biz cards. Chase doesn’t have any age constraints.

I think with Plat they get the Lounge access and global Entry but I am not sure what other benefits as DS is only 14 and not currently flying by himself. The Gold will get you on the GE credit, if you need more.

ok thanks for the replies. It sounds
like he will have to wait and get in the mail set it up and then merge it.

If you plan to go to Acadia National Park, you need to make reservations in advance for Cadillac Mountain, Sand Beach and Thunder Hole. They started requiring reservations a few years ago because there are so many people. I already have reservations for my trip. Last year Cadillac Mt. was booked solid and we weren’t able to do it. Stewman’s Lobster Pound is a great place to eat on the water. We love doing the Nature Cruise. We saw porpoises last time we went. Southwest Harbor is nice too and close to Bar Harbor.

I guess we got lucky - we did a day trip to Acadia & Bar Harbor last summer without a reservation and had no issues. We were there just a week or two after they stopped requiring a negative covid test in order to enter the state, so maybe they just hadn't implemented reservations yet.

Will somebody point the way on this Global Entry credit with the Gold card? I'm trying to pay for a few of them and I don't see it on my Gold card. I'm going to take another look later but right now on my way for a routine dr. appt.

The only thing I saw was the Global Assist hot line.

Is the Barclays Biz the one that was hard to get. Like it needed documents sent in? Or am I thinking of a different card?

i was just approved for the barclay biz. No documentation needed but got the 7-10 message. After about 14 days I called and they said everything looks fine it’s just being processed. Said to watch for email in the next 24 hours...it was several days lol. Applied 6/20 approved 7/10. Still waiting for the card to arrive....

Just an FYI, I got a Citi Biz card in April, which I had to explain on my mortgage app. So obviously they report to credit bureaus. (Explaining wasn't hard, just another letter to write and a copy of recent statement)

I don't think the card reports, but the inquires on all biz cards do. Those do show up on your mortgage credit report. If the card did, they likely wouldn't have needed any info as they would have been able to see it on your report.

I don't think it is a benefit of the Gold card. It is only a benefit for an authorized user of the Platinum card- but you can select the gold card rather than the platinum card for no fee. Here are the terms from the Platinum benefits:

Did they remove it? I know @wendow used the Gold card AU on her Plat for her family’s GE.

According to TPG, it is a Gold AU on Plat benefit as of earlier this year.

@Judique, I would think you would just pay with the Gold AU card since it is not benefit that you need to activate, unlike almost everything else.

I think you and @Alexle2007 are actually saying the same thing. GE is not a benefit of the actual Gold card. It is a benefit of being authorized user on a Platinum card, of which there are 2 versions - a plat AU on plat and a free gold AU on plat. Which is very confusing and hard to specify!

I know some of you have traveled to Alaska. Planning a June 22 trip (flying into/out of Anchorage) We will have 6 full days there. Any tips for deals or best use of points? I have some chase points but that’s about all (Hawaii drained us lol). My DH is open to any cards that could benefit us. CSP is out as we both have and I don’t think my DD20 could get one. We could probably do a $3000-4000 spend since our car insurance will be due soon and that would be a large chunk. I’m still working on getting AA miles with my Barclay personal (extra 40,000 mile offer) and the Biz card (if it ever comes).
Any help/advice is always appreciated!
