My boss is looking to get a new credit card for our company. We have always had a Capital One card where we got money toward GM vehicles. We got a new General Manager and they wouldn't change him to the administrator of the account without cancelling the old account and re-applying for a new account. He was a bit miffed and decided that if we are applying for a new card, we may as well see if we are getting the best deal for the company.

Anyway, he knows I do a lot with credit cards and points, so he asked my opinion (that and I'm the controller lol).

I have business cards, but they are for my "business" and this will be for a real business, so I'm not sure if it's the same advice. I figure a cash back card may be best all around. We definitely don't need travel points nor will they want anything super complicated.

We are an established local ag company that does about $65M in sales a year. We do not charge super high amounts though and we currently have a $30,000 credit limit with our current card.

Any advice, or just go with a 2% cash back card (I assume they have those for businesses).

Thanks!

FINAL REMINDER: Southwest Airlines schedule release is TOMORROW and takes their schedule out to 1/5/22 covering THANKSGIVING, CHRISTMAS, and NEW YEARS.

Release likely will occur between 7am and 11am Eastern, in the 9am hour is most common.

What kind of purchases will be made on the new business card?

There are 4 people who hold cards. The account is primarily used for places that we can't pay by setting up an account - so mostly internet purchases and meals out. Our bill tends to run about $5,000-$6,000 a month.

I have an AMEX gold that is 4X on restaurants and the Chase freedom which is a quarterly catergory on gas, restaurants, and home improvement, plus grocery stores. I do have a CIB that pays 5 times on shipping and airline travel. The AMEX Gold is not a business card though. You could use the chase card for cash back though. The AMEX Gold is 4 X gas, groceries and restaurants, I think. I would check my work to be sure. Sorry I don’t have more

Amex has the Blue Business Cash, 2% cash back.

Except an actual business is going to want a business card.

Saw a card over on the Reddit discussion thread (the main one) - but the link was acting weird on my phone so I'm not quite sure what it was.... I think it was a Chase card for British Airways with a 100,000 avios miles SUB.

I am currently 1/24 and while I'm not a huge flyer, I did take advantage of my AA points when I got the Citi card early on. I think Avios is partners with American so it might be nice to have a few miles for easy spend when I don't have any other new cards right now (and cannot do the spend on the Biz cards right now).

However, I can't seem to find this card with that SUB on the Chase site so now I'm wondering if I misunderstood what I saw.

Help?

DoC tweeted about it so I'd check the blog for the link. I'd make sure you can book AA with them first and if the redemptions are worth it. I think it's a 5k spend.

Oh thank you! I found it using your suggestion.

So far, yes, I can book AA flights with them... and I think I set up a BA/Avios account awhile back so I think I might do this. It's not flexible like URs but at least I would be earning something!

I know several are looking at Hawaii trips in the near future. If anyone is traveling to visit Pearl Harbor they’ve opened tickets up to August 4th. I’m here now and have been trying daily at 3pm with no luck. (They were only releasing one day at a time). Decided to look again and was just able to get time slots for Friday! Lots of days and times available up to early August!
Now to get some sleep...booking our thanksgiving trip on southwest...those will open about 3 am for me lol

Have any of you stayed at vero beach around thanksgiving?

Yes, we have but it's been so long. I've owned there but don't go there - it's probably been close to 10 years since I've been to the resort. It's a lovely resort but the beach is like many of the Florida east coast beaches, small and narrow. I much prefer the wide sand at Hilton Head.

Are you planning to visit? It would be a nice getaway for you since you are so close. If I were that close, I'd definitely go there once in a while.

We were thinking about going there for a day or two too if we end up driving down, but haven’t ever been yet to either of those resorts.

I was looking at doing a confirmed dvc reservation for over thanksgiving but I’m worried it’ll be too cold to swim in the ocean and pool for ds

Well, the ocean is always sort of cold. The pool would be heated to the same extent most Disney pools are heated. There used to be a baby pool in a sheltered area. Probably still there and if the sun is strong enough, probably quite warm.

I see there are a few nights still left that include the actual day. I'm guessing you are talking about a speculative reservation that someone is selling? Have you checked through Disney? Slight chance it might not be as pricy as WDW. November is off season there. The cheapest rooms there are usually the last to get rented - garden view. At this resort ocean view is a big seller. And getting it is only guaranteed through ocean view inn rooms or beach cottages. The rest are set back and not as direct.
