Bagels are so good, they really are. They can be eaten any time of the day, but today we’re going to focus on eating them for breakfast. In the morning, many people will toast a bagel and put a topping on it. Others will make or buy a bagel breakfast sandwich that normally has an egg, cheese and sometimes a meat. However you have bagels in the morning it’s good, but not all people eat them, because they are sadly high in carbs. At one time, we had soooo…..many bagel places by me and they were always jammed with people (this was back in the late 90s and early 2000s), now there’s only one and it just opened earlier this year. I don’t see a lot of cars by it, which is kinda sad. It seems like people are just not that excited about bagels anymore. Are you one of them? Let’s find out….

Do you eat bagels for breakfast?
If yes……do you put something on them or have them as a breakfast sandwich?
(multiple choice)

*I only have 10 poll choices, so I didn’t put every possible choice. Please post your answer if you put something on your bagel that is not listed - thanks!

For Me……I do enjoy a good bagel, but I don’t eat them due to the carbs. Back when I did eat them, I’d toast them and put regular or strawberry cream cheese on them. I’m not a big fan of bagel sandwiches, so I very rarely had those. I’d much rather have a breakfast sandwich made with English Muffins.

I love good bagels but rarely eat them since having bariatric surgery. I can't quite finish 1/4 of a bagel, so unless I'm sharing it with someone, I don't order them. Sometimes at home I'll have a piece of a bagel. My favorite cream cheese is green olive, my favorite bagel is either everything or an onion bialy.

Love bagels 🥯 eat them all the time breakfast or dinner I should probably worry about the carbs but I just don’t

I love a good bagel also, but they are calorie bombs for me for breakfast, plus fairly refined for the most part. For my everyday eating, I don't do stuff like that. About once a year I might treat myself.

We enjoy bagels for breakfast. We’ll have them a few times a month. I do like lox, but don’t have it every time. Cream cheese, plain or vegetable is what I use. With lox I would also put on capers, lettuce and tomato, and I would have sliced onions for my sister. DH only uses cream cheese.

I like plain, poppyseed, sesame seed and pumpernickel. DH likes everything, Black Russian everything, or onion, and DSis likes Black Russian everything.

I will sometimes get a bagel breakfast sandwich out. I prefer one on an English Muffin, and those I make at home.

I’m not really a breakfast person so that would be a NO to bagels in the morning. When I do buy them it’s more of a lunch item and I love cream cheese and ham on a raisin bagel.

It's a bit of a drive to Marie's dentist, so I drive her there. While I wait, I go park by a bagel joint, Einstein Bagels. I'll usually get a sesame seed bagel, toasted, with cream cheese and a large decaf coffee. Maybe 3 times a year. And it would be mornings, so yes, breakfast hours. I kind of look forward to Marie's dentist appointments ha.

Love bagels but no longer eat them as I eat low net carb. I did see keto bagels but I try to avoid processed foods.

I don't have them often, but I really like bagels. Bagels with cream cheese would be my "go to" in bagel breakfast, but I also like a bagel breakfast sandwich.

I love bagels but don't do them often because decent ones are pretty caloric and most of the bagels around here are pretty average. That being said, my perfect bagel...

1. Is toasted... an absolute MUST!
2. Is plain... although I'm not opposed to sesame seed or everything.
3. Has plenty of good plain cream cheese. There are some good spreads, but I'm talking about my fave traditional bagel set up.
4. Has lox...specifically NOVA! Belly is so salty that it's hard to take it in the quantity I like to balance things out on the bagel.
5. Has the proper ratios of Lettuce, tomato, red onion...light on the onion, a heartier lettuce, and bonus points if it's an in-season Jersey tomato.
6. Has CAPERS...the final proper salty touch (even more reason to go with Nova over Belly in terms of type of lox).

I love bagels but I'm diabetic. I have maybe one a year as a treat. They are almost the full amount of carbs I should consume in one day.

I've voted for Other as I really like bagels and would happily eat them for breakfast, but it's not something I do very often. We have bagel thins over here (not sure if they're a thing in the States), which are a slightly healthier version of bagels but not so much with what you put on them...

I tend to eat bagels when I'm away on holiday for some reason. Always seem more tempting!

I love bagels! I try not to have them too often, but I don't completely avoid them. I usually put cream cheese on them, but do occasionally have them as a sandwich.

Yes, we have those (at least here in Massachusetts). I sometimes buy the "everything" ones.

I like an occasional toasted bagel with whipped cream cheese. As with most things you eat, moderation probably means more than what exactly you are eating. I doubt most people choose to eat a bagel every day for breakfast.

I like them and eat them every now and again. Usually it's either with just butter, or cream cheese or peanut butter. I buy mine on line from Western Bagel on line. They have a low carb version and I eat the small ones not the full sized ones.

Love them, usually reserved for vacations/special occasions.

I love bagels, but like others here, have to watch my carbs, so these days, it’s only an occasional treat. I grew up eating one every weekend.
