Thank you so much for your generosity with your advice. Is it worth driving down US-1 from around Reheboth Beach to Ocean City or are the inland road the way to go?

I've done the inland a few times and it may be a bit less traffic, but you still have stop and go traffic, speed limits and lights. Tiny one light towns. Plus in summer a lot of people decide that's the way to go.

Especially on weekends it's pretty difficult to avoid traffic. Once through Rehoboth, it doesn't make much difference, as that's the most congested.

I prefer the coastal route because sometimes I stop at outlets or to get a few groceries for the room or a bottle of wine or something. I also love seeing a bit of the ocean and driving through the coastal area, getting lunch on the way.

OMG...multiple offers on our house, all over list price, some with all inspections waived. While it has been well maintained and most appliances and roof are less than 5 years old, it's over 60 years old and I'm sure inspectors would come up with some things. Now there's the emotional appeal of selling to a young family vs military with VA loan, or highest offer, etc. It's a good dilemma to have and I am feeling very blessed today.

Definitely don’t pack salt and pepper. 😂 I knew I needed some at our home in FL so I had thrown them in my carryon. TSA has to do a very thorough check on the salt. Never again. Lol
OMG! I had a horrible experience with salt at TSA as well 🤣

I brought home 2 8oz containers of coarse salt from Paris. The TSA agent at DFW ran a very THOROUGH chemistry experiment on a sample of it. Jeez! Made me feel like a criminal. The entire time he’s looking at the containers, but he’s completely unfriendly so he’s not communicating with me what he’s doing. Finally he asks me “what is this?” He can’t read it because it’s in French 🤣 When I told him it was salt he kind of rolled his eyes, and told me to move on.

I was told it’s salt, but I can’t read French, so it could be anything... lol. Ok, that’s 1 way to have a very bad day. 😳

Good to know! I'll have to figure out how to cram it all in my quart bag again next month. Took two of us to get it closed for DLR last year. Between the sunblock, contact solution and dailys, and all the rest it's a bit ridic. And I do put some in a smaller container. I may just have to do that for SLC as I don't think I'll need a ton.
I may just be lucky, but I have never separated out my liquids in a quart sized bag for the past 10ish years.

I just forgot to do it once and no one said anything, so I haven’t don’t it since. I’ve never been stopped.

I don’t bring liquids over 3 oz, but I have definitely had more liquids than would fit in a single quart size bag. No one has ever said anything about it.

Anyone that has been to Maui (@Lain)...a few questions.

Can I get by without a rental car? If I do Haleakala I'd probably join a small tour or hire a private driver, same for the Road to Hana. I do want to go to Mama's Fish House -- can I take an Uber there and back (from the GW)? I'd rather not try to navigate and drive on my own in a place that I've never visited before. The rest of the time I'd likely just spend at the resort or the Shops at Wailea. I do have to get to and from the airport, but figured I'd just get a taxi.

The GW has been getting hammered on TA due to the long lines for pool chairs and limited pool hours. Since my trip is scheduled for October 28 - November 4th, any guesses if this will still be an issue? My idea of a relaxing vacation does not involve lining up for a chair by the pool. I have been pondering switching resorts after 4 days, but I'd have to pay cash if I go this route. Any thoughts?

With TSA precheck since they don't make you remove them, I have them all just floating around in my backpack or carry on, LOL.

Same - I actually have gotten away with having items over 3oz several times.

Also, when we flew out of our small airport last, they weren't doing a real precheck line, and we were not prepared at all. Even though they told us to take out our electronics we forgot and they made a big deal out of it.

I totally forgot I have the $25 off Staples offer on my Delta Biz Amex. I guess I need to go use that, LOL. Since I never can land VGC, maybe I'll just get target or something else I know I'll use.

I hate that the tiny ones make you pull out ipads and laptops even for precheck. I get it's one line at them, but it's annoying, LOL. I do however love rolling up about 25 min before boarding at them, LOL.

I did not know they allow full size. I've been buying my daughter the smaller bottles when she travels. Good to know. Do you still have to fit it in the quart size bag?

I didn't put mine in a quart bag as it would not fit. I didn't think it was worth it to not have the smaller bottles. Took a while to test and pull me aside in pre-check. I'd just do the smaller bottles unless it is a long trip and you need the larger size.

ETA: that screen shot is from the TSA website.

NPS travelers: Anyone been to Crater Lake? Preliminary planning for next year. I want to go once all the roads are open. Anyone know if Mid-July is highly likely for that to be true? I could not find past opening dates on the road like they have for Glacier GTTSR. I can push to late July but wasn't sure if it was necessary.

Can someone do me a favor who owns DVC. I am booked right now on rented points for May 9-16 (Sunday - Sunday). Flying Delta - 3 of us 81,000 points. Well, SunCountry is having a sale and I can fly all 3 of us RT for $200 if we go Saturday -Saturday May 8th-15th. Wondering in BWV is even available for the 8th. Currently have a 1 Bedroom Garden/Pool view. Thanks.

tagging @FreeDiningFanatic who was just in Maui

Personally I cannot imagine going all the way to Maui and not renting a car, I would feel like I was missing out on so much. But, it has been years since I've been to Maui.

As of now nothing is open at the BWV for 5/8 :(

And this is why I always make sure it's in a bag just in case I do need to take it out. Not as big of a deal when visiting a friend vs vacation but I still don't want to have to replace stuff because of it. If I check a bag it's not a big deal, just carryon only trips. And I have had my sunblock not in the bag without issue. I also question if mascara and my tube of Vaseline lip therapy are liquids as I don't consider them to be since you can't pour them out. A lot of sunblock is loose enough it'll come out some even without squeezing the tube.

My toothpaste is also an issue as it doesn't come in small tubes so I'll put it in a small container too. The whole quart bag thing is kinda ridic anyway.
