I decided to try for the AmEx Rose Gold since I was blocked from the SUB when it first came out. I was approved and will have my card by Feb. 10th. I was able to get my card number, CVV and expiry date from the screen so I can start to use now. I am now officially, for the first time ever, 5/24 (until April).

I used a support link from the dis group; unfortunately a lot of the links that I tried were not valid, not sure if it was my browser or the links, but I was finally able to get one to work. Just putting this out there in case anyone wants to update their links (most say they were updated 1 month ago).

Can I use a support link from my SW Performance business card to apply for my SW personal card?
Can you... yes... But it is not advisable. If you can do it across spouses that is perfectly fine, but a self-click could be an abuse of the support program and people have been warned in the past about various support abuses (I believe this being one of them).

Thanks, I assumed that was the answer since the RR points would go in the same acct.
If I’m being honest you’d probably get away with it no problem. It’s a really hard one to advise somebody to do though! I’d bet it’s... 97% safe, haha (yeah I pulled that outta my butt). You’d really have to abuse it to get warned or shutdown over it... so make the decision that’s best for you...

re: Fort Lauderdale: - my favorite use of the Hilton FNC is the Diplomat Beach resort in the Hollywood beach area. Often they only offer an accessible room as a standard reward, but have been advised to select that before and have always been upgraded to ocean view.

The Marriott Harbor Beach club is great for families, but when we stayed there I thought the rooms decidedly average and the service lacking. That said, I would stay there again for the pools and beach location.

I'll look into that tonight when I'm "in class" and super bored, LOL. My parrothead soul would love to stay at Margaritaville in Hollywood Beach....but at $400+/night, I don't see that EVER happening, LOL. And thanks for the heads up on the Marriott. Doesn't sound like a place to necessarily go with just the BF.

If you're up for a 3 hour drive north and can fly out of Orlando, the WA there is really nice. I think the Conrad Fort Lauderdale looks really nice and would be a good value for the FNC. There's also the Diplomat, which is a Hilton Curio Hotel (used to be a Westin). In terms of location, I'd say the Conrad would beat the Diplomat, because I think you'd be in a more "happening" area and walking distance to shops and restaurants, whereas at the Diplomat you'd need a car to go shopping or out to eat.

I can likely fly anywhere in FL that Spirit flies. We're likely gonna try using his benefits for me. But not sure he really wants to go to Orlando, LOL. And I am a beach girl. I'll check out the Diplomat too.

So any good uses of the Marriott FNC in southern FL?

In addition to flying several times a year, we generally stay at Hilton properties, which leads to my question: I was thinking about getting the HH AMEX Aspire Card in the near future, thinking it would piggy back well with the SW card (and the CP), and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or suggestions?

The Aspire card's $450 AF is pricey, but I think that would easily be offset by the Hilton and airline credits offered with the card. All of the other benefits that come with the card (Diamond status, PP membership, etc.) we have never had/used, but I think having those is where we would gain "value" from this card. Is there another card that would have better airline and hotel benefits than the Aspire?

I'm a fan of the aspire card. And I don't keep a lot of cards with annual fees but I find that one has a good value for us. We tend to stay in hiltons more than others. I've had it for about 2 years, I think. No problem maxing the resort credit, the airline credit and using the free nights. Right now there's a $20 restaurant credit/month until Dec, which adds further value for me. I originally had the no fee hilton card, took an upgrade offer for the surpass, then another upgrade offer for the aspire, all within a year or so. So I ended up with a crap ton of hilton points. I use them occasionally to book rooms for my parents in their travels. My father is impressed with the Diamond parking. :rotfl2:

Thanks for pointing that out! I fixed my links for the Rose Gold.
Plus you reminded me what my wife's next card is gonna be :D

Thanks, I decided not to try it. I applied for the SW Premier using a family member's support and got the stupid "we need more time" message.

Posts like this remind me how sad I am not to have a P2 with even a remotely legit side biz. 😢

Hi everyone. Popping over here from the Gift Card thread to ask a question. I am interested in getting a Chase SW card. I have a Disney Chase card already that I've had 3+ years. As for a lot of ppl, 2020 sucked. A lot. We own restaurants (buffets specifically) so with Covid we lost a full 6 months of business and put most of what we had saved trying to survive until we could reopen. Thats a whole other story though, that i won't bore you all with here. Needless to say, our credit took a hit. Mostly my husbands, but mine too. To make matters worse, his credit was hacked and that cost him both his SW and Disney chase cards, and a couple of his AMEX cards. Another very long story and lesson learned. Always pay for Lifelock... I have not gotten any new CC's in the last 2 years except for my Target card in Jan 2019. I guess the 1st question I need to ask is what should my credit score be before I consider trying to get the SW card?
Good seeing you here. Are you trying for biz or personal? I would think biz requires I higher score than personal but if I’m recalling correctly some have gotten it with scores in the low 700

Tks. Updated all of my Amex links. Bonvoy Biz was also not working.

I'm going to include @SouthFayetteFan in my answer to this question. I'm sure OP has decided not to do this but, if I remember correctly, self referring went along with some shutdowns as well as claw backs.

I did it just once before it became a possible issue. I didn't get caught but for the $100 statement credit I got, it took a long time before I felt comfortable. I lived in fear of shutdown over this $100. It really took the joy out of churning for me. This used to be a strategy that was offered on this board as well as through other channels, so it's a reminder that what we view as 'ok' can quickly not be okay by the companies that supply the rewards we seek.

Thanks! I just updated my Amex links. And congrats on the new card.

Ok Amex offer gurus--on the $25 off $500 offer (I have it on my BBC) do I need to do that in $500 increments (meaning one $5000 charge will only trigger a $25 credit)?

Never mind--I see on Doc they do need to be in smaller increments. I probably can do five federal income tax payments for q1 and split my car insurance up into three payments. At least this makes me feel a little better about having no msr.

I have the side business, I just haven't done anything in a LONG LONG LONG time, LOL. But I still have to file taxes w/ MI and I have a tax ID number, so I think that should count for getting business cards. As for a P2....I'm trying to get my BF into the game. But as a pilot, he doesn't see value in a lot of the cards/perks/offers.
