First time poster and long time lurker here!

SouthFayetteFan has been helping me get started and I am currently using the Chase SW RR Priority Card with the hope of earning CP status within the next 6 months. I have been using the Chase Disney Visa for years and although I realized there is not much "value" in using it, I guess I have been lazy about switching things up until recently.

In addition to flying several times a year, we generally stay at Hilton properties, which leads to my question: I was thinking about getting the HH AMEX Aspire Card in the near future, thinking it would piggy back well with the SW card (and the CP), and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or suggestions?

The Aspire card's $450 AF is pricey, but I think that would easily be offset by the Hilton and airline credits offered with the card. All of the other benefits that come with the card (Diamond status, PP membership, etc.) we have never had/used, but I think having those is where we would gain "value" from this card. Is there another card that would have better airline and hotel benefits than the Aspire?

I have also been reading (and learning) a lot from thepointsguy.com and was wondering what everyone here thinks about that website and are there other sites that you would suggest?

Thanks for any comments!

This thread has served as a hilarious rumor 😂

Good chance to get a couple of Chase jokes in there amidst the other ridiculousness.

https://www.disboards.com/threads/a...ake-them-for-chase-card-holders-only.3824994/

I should have known better than to go down that rabbit hole, but I would probably do Pretzels with Pluto or maybe Brownies with Bambi, or even some Ravioli with Rapunzel or maybe a Rum hot toddy with Rapunzel, considering the wet cold snow there. and as for the Chase Financials seminar, I think I'm in!

75k is a great offer for the personal Gold. It is one of my favorite cards. You can transfer to airlines, some of the hotel chains, and if you are motivated cash out eventually with a Schwab Plat. There is also a gift card option.

But to just get started on MR’s I think the Gold with a 75k bonus is a good place to start. Post if you have other questions. It is a higher AF but not scary and it has some great benefits.
Which transfer partners does AMEX have?

Ha, I have plenty up my way. Of course, we are in the 3-5 in band. I just shoveled a path for Puggles to do his business. I am so tired of snow and can’t wait to head to FL on Thursday. DS and I are planning to do all 4 parks in a day on Fri.

I've done that several times! It's fairly easy when you live at Boardwalk.

We've got a coating and it should leave as soon as it stops and the sun shines on it.

Sheesh......snow is actually falling and turning my yard white. Temp has dropped to 34.

Well, it's supposed to go back to rain at 10am and stop at noonish. I wish the world was normal and that I was in Florida where I belong in February!! I had to cancel a trip that would have started this week.

And, I want to go to Hilton Head but not sure I'm getting my shot by then. I'm registered and ready but they haven't scheduled me yet. Said it could be several weeks.
I hope you can get it soon!

And I came out of the y to roads covered. Wanted to head to Kroger and Dick's (used my two Paypal credits last night to buy ds new tees and shorts). But decided to head home, take a shower, put my loungewear on an hunker down:) I am not meant for this weather.

No, you can use any card you like 👍🏻 You’ll be able to login to your shop runner account when checking out and pay how you like
some sites have shoprunner enabled which gives u free 2 day shipping with them.
YES! I was about to place an order at AE and wanted to get FREE 2 day shipping. The list of stores is very limited but AE and Under Armor are both on it. That's about it for me. The link says it's free to sign up till Feb 28th. I think it's worth getting (since it's free lol) and they advertise that more stores are signing up.

Well hello Otterpop. You certainly seem like a nice fellow who would never create any scampi-related trouble. 😂

I’m a Chase girl, so I can’t help on the AMEX questions, but my favorite source for miles and points info (along with this thread) is Miles to Memories. You can follow them on Twitter or Facebook, and they also have a podcast and a private Facebook group. They are great at giving you a heads up on different offers and promos. I follow TPG on Twitter, and they seem more focused on rating insane first-class plane cabins than anything else.

This may not be on your radar but, if you as yet have no Amex cards, look first for the Platinum offer of 100K MR's. There are some great benefits that can be taken advantage of right now. Later on, the offers on this card are much lower, once you have other Amex cards.

Doctor of Credit is a popular website for finding new stuff. Some people here get hat tips for being the first to share new info.

The points guy is not a bad website, but on this board mostly people are looking for 'breaking news' versus a sermon on how to go about whatever the points guy is selling this month. Reading about experiences is one thing. Staying on top of current offers is another, and what a lot of people here find value in.

That said, the website can be interesting reading at times.

I have the Hilton Aspire and have had it for 3 years. I'm able to use the credits to make it worthwhile to pay the AF. Next weekend I am using 3 free night certificates (FNC) from the card, expiration dates extended due to pandemic, to treat family to a stay at a local Hilton resort for my niece's 15th bday. We will have 2 adults and 4 kids staying, use the pool, and order enough food to use the resort credit. Just make sure to look at the list of resorts at http://www.hilton.com/resorts to make sure you'll be able to use the credit. I'd have a harder time justifying the AF without using the credit, although DH did enjoy parking in the Diamond Members reserved spots 🤣

What if the Bambi brownies were in small round brown shapes... 😳

I guess if they had fluffy buttercream icing and sprinkles, I'd probably eat them! Bambi leaves those little piles of brownies in my backyard all the time. I wasn't thinking bite size, but you have some out of the box thinking going on there!

Some of my Amex cards have or have had shop runner. I looks like you can get it on any Chase card. I haven't used it but did look at it in the past. Didn't sign up and can't remember why not. Probably because I used Prime or something like that. Or it didn't have the stores that I needed at the moment.

Welcome! Some other helpful sites I use are millionmilesecrets.com and onemileatatime.com. Doctor of Credit will be your new best friend though. You'll save so much that it'll you think about how can you get the most value out of your normal spending. I haven't paid for a flight in like 6 years. It's a fun and useful hobby!

Reminder: Tomorrow is the last (official) day for elevated offers on the Southwest Personal Cards (3 options) and the SW Performance Business Card. That also means that today could be the last day to start a MDD.

Support Links typically will live on beyond the posted "apply by date" but I wouldn't count on that as a strategy.

More Info and links available on DISchurners ;)

Guys. We got snow. In South Carolina! This is pretty unusual for us, and was a complete surprise since the weather was calling for rain! (Our last snow was December 2018, 1 inch, lol.) Here’s the pup with his first (and probably last for at least a few years) snow experience. He absolutely loved it!!

My love reaction was for the pup, not the snow LOL. I hate snow, and it's all I see :-)

I'm glad I'm not the only one that shovels for the dog.
When our little 7 pound nearly hairless dog was alive, we shoveled a small path for her in the yard, otherwise she couldn't even get in the yard, she was too small. As she got older she wouldn't even leave the porch, and just went there. Anywhere but in the house, was a good thing.

Would also recommend Frequent Miler for Twitter, Podcasts, and blog.

Definitely consider the Platinum card if this is your first Amex. You may be able to find the 125k MR offer through their prequalified offers page.

We have an Aspire card and think it’s worth the value. Just make sure to check the resorts that are eligible for the credit to make sure there’s value for you. We only have 2 resort options within driving distance. Other than that we’d have to have something very specific in mind to get the value from the resort credit. Also the airline credit can be tricky to use. I found it’s works great in combination with Southwest when purchasing sub $100 fares. Took a bit of reading to figure it out, but so far it’s worth it to me.
