I'm so confused on my DH's Chase Freedom Unlimited card! He PC'd from a CSP last year, and we honestly don't use it much because we usually have an MSR to work on. But, I read that the quarterly bonus category this quarter is warehouse clubs, so I wanted to buy some DGC's at Sam's to cover our DVC dues. I don't see where he can activate the 5% category. Are there different Chase Freedoms and the CFU doesn't have this 5% category? I found a link to activate it, but it says it's not valid. Help please!
No bonus categories with the CFU - just the CF and CFF.

I had computer drama today. DD helped me replace the battery in my xps 13. It was an involved process and there were stripped screws (had to buy an extractor kit from Amazon). Anyway we finally got the battery replaced and then the screen wasn't opening properly. So I took it to one of those fixit places today and they told me the case was broken (no clue how that happened). I went and got another opinion and at first they said it wasn't broken but then they said it was. They recommended I sign up for Asurion Home +, wait 31 days and file a claim then they would replace my laptop. I got home and couldn't even get the laptop to connect to the internet which was going to make working tomorrow rather difficult! Somehow it connected to wifi again.

So I still had this issue that the laptop either needs to be repaired or replaced. Thought about a Surface Laptop 3. Then went back to Dell (because I'm a glutton for punishment). Found another XPS--list price was about $1,100 and it was on sale plus 15% off. Still had my 10% off Amex offer and my $100 Dell Platinum credit. So it's less than $600.

My lesson was to stop trying to replace batteries myself in laptops (and iphones).
I got DS a Surface Laptop 3 in the pretty blue for Christmas. I am totally jealous of it! Then I got him the headphones, mouse and laptop bag from the MS store using my Dell credits for XBox. The Surface pen is next.

I was really close to getting it since I was in the middle of dell drama and Best Buy had it in stock. And the blue one is so pretty!
Now I just need to hope my current one doesn’t die before the new one arrives because I don’t want to work from the office (ever again- ha!).

It looks like the SW change window Is still a 2021 thing. I can change my 2/28 flight but not my 2/15 or 3/11 so I have no idea what the window is. If others have been SW flights in late Feb or early Mar can you please check them?

I just tried to book and change a flight for several days in late February, but I wasn’t able to find any dates that would work.

New here! I've been active on the DCL and ABD boards where I've enjoyed reading about Calypso's travel hacking experiences. Now I want to learn how :-)
I need a points strategy for trip planned from Los Angeles to New Zealand in Dec 2021.

Cards applied for in past 24 months: 0
Cards I currently have: Chase Sapphire Pref, United Explorer, Marriott Bonvoy
Monthly spend: $5K
Payoff cc?: Yes
Airport: LAX
FF program: UA MileagePlus
current points: 500K UA, 100K Chase
Goal: 3 business/1st class tix to New Zealand
When: Dec 2021
Travel Party: me, husband and teenaged son

Thanks for any advice or suggestions!
I am going to NZ in March, 2022. I have been 'practicing' booking flights for a few weeks to see when first class award availability opens up on Etihad for our dates. You don't mention when you are going, but since you have a teenager, I'd guess over the Christmas holidays, in which case you have around a week to 'practice' booking the flights you want on United (award seats over Christmas break go fast, so be ready to jump once they appear). From what I can see the flights go from 'saver' at 80,000 (hard to find) to 200,000 for regular business class. If you transfer your UR at a 1:1 you have enough for 3 seats. The trick is to know exactly when UA releases the award seats and be ready to pounce immediately (you will need to book the tickets as one way to get business class both directions).

Thanks so much for your response, WDWGroupie! I went onto the UA site to practice booking -- thanks for that tip. It's confusing, so good to get some familiarity ahead of time. You had indicated that you thought we would have enough points but it looks like it is 200,000 one way per person! So that would take us to 1,200,000 points round trip. Yikes! Am I mistaken?

Out of curiosity I did go through that same exercise, and you're correct. 200,000 UA miles one way per person for the regular business seats. But if you were lucky enough to find business saver seats, I think she was saying those could be had for 80,000 miles one way per person.

As a Browns fan living in Pittsburgh, I am loving this game. However, they can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory so we'll see. OK, back to your credit card discussion!

Sad fans here. If it was anyone else I would be rooting for the Browns. I’m probably one of the only people to like both teams. 😂 But I do love me some Baker Mayfield so I am happy for him. I can’t stand Ben, so please, please, please let this be his last season.

Just cancelled flights, hotel, and dining for our trip WDW trip next weekend. We have lots more miles now but I cannot even figure out when to plan a new trip to use them. I am so over all of this. :charac2:
I am with you. We recently canceled our trip for the first week of March. And our CP had been extended until June - sadly I don’t think we will use it before then. I rebooked with our DVC points for September- fingers crossed we go then, otherwise our points expire at the end of that month.

Q4 taxes are paid. Used PayUSATax.com to save $3:) < $5k to go on my Platinum Business MSR (Q1 taxes).

And somehow I got ebates on my dell purchase. I was having issues and the price kept changing on dell (I think the price on Dell consumer was higher) so I'm shocked it tracked.

I was confused with this too and posted something similar the other day. CFU does not have bonus categories - CF and CFF do.

Has anyone that has the arrival+ and got the offer for (I think) 50,000 bonus points for $3,000 spend had their points post? I was well over the spend on my December statement and my points weren't there. I'm wondering if they are waiting to post after the promotion period ends? I'm not in a huge hurry, I just like seeing the points in my account :)

And the fact that chase is again approving biz cards makes it easy to earn more URs. Perhaps I’d treat them as more precious if they were more difficult to obtain.
speaking of.... :rolleyes1 is something up with the automated app status line? I have tried calling, and keep getting the prompts like a regular callin... trying to find out if I'm approved or denied here:bitelip:
