If you don't use the CFU, you could PC again.

Thanks for the suggestion! I was considering it, but not sure my DH will want to call. We only need about $400 in DGC's for the rest of our dues, although I'm sure we'll need more later so that might make it worth it.

speaking of.... :rolleyes1 is something up with the automated app status line? I have tried calling, and keep getting the prompts like a regular callin... trying to find out if I'm approved or denied here:bitelip:
Yes - it basically doesn't work for business applications any more, and even some personal applications seem to not track to it. So you apply and wait.

I am with you. We recently canceled our trip for the first week of March. And our CP had been extended until June - sadly I don’t think we will use it before then. I rebooked with our DVC points for September- fingers crossed we go then, otherwise our points expire at the end of that month.
I also have a CP that may never get used. Definitely a bummer, but I remind myself others have lost much more. We have a WDW trip planned for April (after 2 canceled trips), but doubtful we will be comfortable going. We were hoping for CA or national parks kind of trip for the summer, but I just booked VT (driveable) instead. We had DVC points we had to move to RCI, so we are trying Smugglers Notch in Aug. Seemed like a safer bet with all the quarantine rules!

So true. I just want this thing over and for my parents to remain healthy. I'm fortunate to have a job and a roof over my head. In the meantime I'm hoping to get a few trips to visit them this year. I'll travel in 2022.

About the Sapphire MDD...I get I apply for the reserve today and get approved, I can apply for the Preferred tomorrow. What happens if I don't get instant approval of the reserve?

I know we have some world travelers here so I thought I would ask this group and maybe save some time on research. Can anyone recommend a safari company, preferably Kenya? Also, best airline to Africa suggestions? Once upon a time I was a Delta flight attendant but that was almost 20 years ago and I haven't flown internationally since then. This would be a "last minute" trip for this summer so I will most likely be paying cash for the tix.
I'll be following your planning for any tips! My son wants to go to Africa in lieu of a large party for his bar mitzvah in a few years. (That's my boy!).

We went to Tanzania on our honeymoon through Abrocrombe and Kent, but it was 14+ years ago. It was an amazing trip, but $$$. I have a feeling you could find a similarly great experience for less. It was a different world for travel planning back then (less internet-available info).

Absolutely, I feel the same exact way. I try to remind myself how fortunate we are and not dwell on the small things. We have cancelled 3 Disney trips now. We were hoping to go to California and Hawaii this year too. But I am not even going to try and plan a trip there until 2022. Vermont is beautiful. I have been to Smugglers - but skiing in the winter. We are doing things we enjoy around the area we live like skiing and snow shoeing. Also, that is a good idea about RCI but I still have some time on my DVC points. They expire September 30, so if I dont think we will end up going in September I will look further into renting or transferring to RCI as well.

I wasn't trying to be a downer... sorry! I'm typically a "make lemonade" kinda person. But it has been a tough 10-11 months for all of us, and it's OK to mourn whatever we have lost, even if it is small in comparison to someone else. As you said - above all, grateful for our health and steady employment!

We are also interested in Smugglers Notch for skiing, but can't go this year bc quarantine rules. It has a great reputation as a family resort. And my kids have never been to VT, so we can add another pin to the map!

Thanks so much for your response, WDWGroupie! I went onto the UA site to practice booking -- thanks for that tip. It's confusing, so good to get some familiarity ahead of time. You had indicated that you thought we would have enough points but it looks like it is 200,000 one way per person! So that would take us to 1,200,000 points round trip. Yikes! Am I mistaken?
They may use dynamic pricing -- I don't use UA so I am not sure. However I'd say that 200,000 points one way seems excessive. I hope that it's 200,000 pp return. Are you looking at the latest date that you can book (i.e. December 10th)?

It is a wonderful resort. I live close to Vermont - so I have skiied there many times. I am sure you would all love visiting there. Summers are beautiful and maybe you can get out on the lake too when you are up here.

Yeah. I don’t think our rescheduled April trip to the UK is happening :( We will probably push it out to Fall 2022. But life could be much, much worse.

Also adding that Smugglers had some RCI availability throughout the summer, but more for 1st half of June and 2nd half of Aug, if you would be interested for a summer trip.

Thanks, I think my daughter was actually looking at that through the Disney collection too. Will definitely keep that in mind over the next few months.

Well, I just cancelled the last of my existing SW reservations - this one for my yearly trip to Vegas for March Madness, the first weekend of the NCAA basketball tournament. This one was especially a bummer, since my first COVID-cancelled trip was March Madness 2020.

I've now got 218k SW points AND a (somewhat worthless) companion pass through 12/21. This makes me wish SW had first class seats I could splurge on!

I tried late Nov returning early Dec and got 200,000 pt/pp/one way. Oddly, I'm not seeing any Alliance Partners listed. I know there's an option to check where you want to search (all airlines, UA, Alliance Partners) so I've tried checking all airlines and then Alliance Partners but the search only pulls up UA flights.

I need a spreadsheet or something. Just signed up for Hello Fresh...but the Amex offer is for Home Chef. Darn these meal services and their similar nameso_O lol.
There has been an offer for Hello Fresh on Amex, I have one that expires 1/23/21, so maybe check all your Amex cards for that.

I thought the food quality was great, but the website and their back end accounting is annoying. Do not buy gift cards for Hello Fresh. If you try to apply them to your order, you lose any other promo offer you signed up through (I went through Swagbucks for $50, and $90 off spread over 5 or 6 deliveries). And if you're trying to reach $45 to activate the Amex offer (save $5 on $45) and put an extra item in your cart, they will charge that extra separately so that you get charged a $40 charge and a $5 charge, thus not qualifying for the Amex offer. Grr. I'm quitting them, but not because of the food. I have downloaded the recipes which are free.
