We are having a hotel stay from he**. Okay, that’s an exaggeration but it’s not great. The room smells like weed. Already had maintenance up to deal with a toilet that won’t flush and randomly bubbles. And why the heck don’t they give you sheets for the pull out sofa if one adult and two teens check into a room with a king bed and a sofa bed? And there aren’t any in the room. No safe either. The cash rate is almost $400/night. Not worth my 50,000 point certificate:(

Hilton Diamond experts...
I will be staying at a Hilton resort (The Boulders) for the first time as Diamond member. Are there special perks that I should know of? Can I request an upgrade ahead of time? I have the Hilton Aspire. I'm hoping I will be able to use my $250 resort credit.
TIA

Is the 48 month rule still applies for the Sapphire cards? I got a bonus 2 years ago on csp.

You can try asking for an upgrade when you check in online and/or when you check in in-person. I haven't had much luck though some people have great results.

The Confidante smelled of weed the whole time too. And when we dropped DD off in South Bend we had asked for 2 queens and they said they were overbooked and gave us a king with sofa bed. We called down to ask for extra bedding and they said I think we just gave out our last blanket. How does a hotel run out of bedding?? They did manage to find one before we went to bed, but i thought it strange.

For those heading to HI, here is your warning to make sure you use a trusted partner!

I had to go ask for bedding for DS and felt sorry for whatever family didn’t go through the trusted partner for their COVID tests and will now have to quarantine for 14 days. (The desk clerk was verifying their booking with someone.) They are serious about the testing. I had to show my SafeTravel approval at the airport in ORD, the rental car and the hotel. And show our blue wristband with a million people waiting as we deplaned.

Ok, glad we opted for HI. We did have to ask for bedding at RH today. They just brought a bed instead.

Oh, no! Hope your trip improves and the visit to Georgia Tech is better.

I'm so boring in my churning activities lately, lol. Just an Ink every so often and then methodically hit the MSR. Sorry this response is super delayed, I was behind and skipped some pages, with the intention of reading all comments when I came back through to update the news thread. So tonight I'm doing the news thread for the week. At any rate... I'd say an Ink card is in order, but that's basically what I say to everything these days hahaha!

EDIT: HEY - I see you got autoapproved. That's awesome!!! I'm glad you took my advice... before I gave it to you.

What's the shortest period of time you've seen an offer like this stay open? Would I need to move on it right away? I'm a little concerned about velocity. I applied for (and got) the Amex Plat on 1/27, and then I applied (and was rejected) for the CIC on 2/25. I figure I should wait at least 30 days since my last hard pull, but I would like to MDD these sometime in April, when I will be doing some spending for my 5/1-5/8 Disney trip (and then at Disney when I should be able to put some decent spend on the cards.) I burned through my Plat MSR quickly due to a VRBO reservation, and now OF COURSE I find myself with some decent-sized expenses and no MSR to use them on.
I'd be shocked it hangs around less than 4 weeks. Honestly, I'd guess 6-12 weeks is the likely period for this. They probably want to ride it into summer even, as people get more excited about traveling again.

Curious, does anyone know what kind of hit my credit score may take once I no longer have a mortgage? Does thr history stay like for cc's?

Also guessing, and yes I know, that still having my student loans will help as far as it being more than just cc's. Though knocking it out is the next goal. It had such a low interest rate and payment I've never been worried about it.

I've just read on reddit some people have been denied, I think from bofa, due to a lack of an installment loan so I'm trying to figure out how it'll all work as I don't plan on buying a house any time soon. Can't afford to here.
Anecdotal of course, But paying off our mortgage has had no impact on my credit score or churning activities :)

That is crazy and makes zero sense!

It got a little worse for us. Around 10 when we were all settled in and in our pjs we had a knock at the door. I told the kids to ignore it. This went on for about ten minutes. The knocker was patient and persistent. I finally called the front desk and it was housekeeping with the sheets that they had already sent up. And I am up now because the bubbling toilet just woke me up. So much for my excitement to leave the house. :rotfl2:
And ds (most opinionated human I have ever met) does not want dd going to school in a city so there’s lots of color commentary about how he has no clue why she would even consider Atlanta. Thankfully she mainly tunes him out.

My SIL lives in Honolulu and she has told us they are very strict about the rules. We are hoping to visit in early June (flights are booked!) but we are waiting to see if they relax some of their restrictions. I’m hoping to avoid being tested if vaccinated and she’s said no more than 5 can gather together even at the beaches and there would be 7 of us.

Credit mix is 10% of your score, so theoretically it's 85 points. The student loans count, personal loans count, auto and of course mortgage. The history stays in your file for 10 years after closing, same as CC, but only open accounts open count for credit mix.
If you don't have any of those open you can do what is called a Share Secure Loan. There are a few banks and credit unions that do it. Navy Federal is the one I have experience with. They open a loan and take that amount out of your savings account, as you pay the loan back they release the funds that secured the loan. So what you do is open a $3000/ 3 year loan. Pay off 90% immediately and set an auto pay for $3/month. That give you the maximum score boost and you don't have to think about it again for 3 years.
