What are the chances this offer will still be around 3 months from now? I just applied and got instant approval for a CIU today.

I'm not sure of the history of bonus increases but last year the 80K deal started in mid September and ended on Nov 8. I applied my wife for a Chase SW card a month ago so I'll hold out as long as I can but once we get an end date even if it's less than 3 months since the last opening I'm going to try for it.

For the Chase IHG tap to pay 1k pt promo, when do the bonus points post? I thought they would post with my statement, but they didn't. I have the promo on two cards, but no bonus points yet for either one. Since the offer was extended, I'm wondering if I should just do 6 more transactions.

I'm so boring in my churning activities lately, lol. Just an Ink every so often and then methodically hit the MSR. Sorry this response is super delayed, I was behind and skipped some pages, with the intention of reading all comments when I came back through to update the news thread. So tonight I'm doing the news thread for the week. At any rate... I'd say an Ink card is in order, but that's basically what I say to everything these days hahaha!
But aren't we all excited about that new CSP offer? I'm thinking me and P2 both need that..... I hope it lasts a while so I can do it

Both DH and mine posted with our statements.

And ds (most opinionated human I have ever met) does not want dd going to school in a city so there’s lots of color commentary about how he has no clue why she would even consider Atlanta. Thankfully she mainly tunes him out.

I'm glad she can mostly tune him out. She's the one that would be living there and needs to decide. But I also decided I'd go to school I SF and had never been there. I've never heard anything baf about GT though, only good/great things from those that went.

Credit mix is 10% of your score, so theoretically it's 85 points. The student loans count, personal loans count, auto and of course mortgage. The history stays in your file for 10 years after closing, same as CC, but only open accounts open count for credit mix.
If you don't have any of those open you can do what is called a Share Secure Loan. There are a few banks and credit unions that do it. Navy Federal is the one I have experience with. They open a loan and take that amount out of your savings account, as you pay the loan back they release the funds that secured the loan. So what you do is open a $3000/ 3 year loan. Pay off 90% immediately and set an auto pay for $3/month. That give you the maximum score boost and you don't have to think about it again for 3 years.

Interesting. And there's no interest on it?

Though I will say buying dvc and having that as a loan has me thinking about it simply so I'd at least get something out of it :rotfl2: :confused3

Trying to finalize my Glacier trip this year. I am probably jinxing it but as long as there no wildfires, I think it is good to go! Getting down to finalizing and I have two itineraries - one 15 days, one 11. Can I make speculative flights out on SW that are 4 days apart or will they see that and cancel one?

Nope, you arefine. It is the same day Flights it doesn’t like.

BIL is applying for a CIU and is having trouble categorizing his business. He's a landscaper. There's not an obvious fit under agriculture or under construction. Help?

i was looking under personal services, but nothing really fits it... :\

I got my $5 dining credit finally, after chatting with Amex yesterday. Still none for DH since his has to go into "research". Seriously the charge is from Pizza Hut, pretty obvious that's dining.

Sounds like a cop out but really the best fit looks like Other Services>Other>All Other :teeth: As you can see they don't have an exhaustive list and it won't cover every type of business out there, so I don't think it's unusual to go that route. I see approvals reported using those categories. Good luck!

Unfortunately As of now Disney isn’t selling new APs....they are only renewing or if you had one and cancelled last year they may let you buy a new AP

Just saw this comment from Tuesday. Yes, I know. Maybe I am being too optimistic. I am thinking pass sales will be open again by June which is my first actual planned trip to the world. But who knows since everything is still pretty nutty!

Amex SUB has additional $200 credit for home furnishing stores (includes Home Depot and Lowe's) via support on personal cards. I saw it on every card except the Hilton and Bonvoy ones. (Darn because I wanted to go for a Surpass.)

EXTRA $200 ON MOST AMEX CARDS VIA SUPPORT LINK!

The wording you'll see in the SUB is:
  • Plus, Earn Up to $200 Back in Statement Credits on eligible purchases at select U.S. home furnishing stores made with your new Card within your first 3 months of Card Membership. Apply by 05/05/2021.
This is pretty wild! I had been talking to my brother in law lately about the American Express Blue Cash Preferred card and I looked again today and I guess I had somewhat glossed over this tidbit (despite putting it into the news thread).

So on BCP as an example, it still has its increased bonus going for $300 / $3,000 MSR with waived AF for year 1. I'm not sure if he's going to go for the card, but I tried to tell him he could basically spend the $3k MSR in groceries and use the $200 credit at Lowe's and get around $680 in bonus out of one card!!

At any rate, if you're thinking about Amex personal cards, I'd take a look at this benefit! Also, this is only on personal cards FYI.

just to be clear, is that only for the person getting the card? Or does the referrer also get the credit?

Good question - and yes, you are correct. The person who generates the support link will receive whatever shows on the page generating the link. It varies by card (some cash; some MRs, some miles/points). But this extra $200 is for the person who applies. 😊
