I'm thinking of getting the 140k IHG card from Chase for DH, but it would bring him to 4/24 until 8/21. He just got denied for a CIP for business structure last week. So it's either wait 30 days and try again, or use up his last personal spot for this. I thought about the Marriott 5 nights free as well, but with the one year expiration and our next three vacations already covered I think I'd rather have the flexibility of the points. I've never had an IHG card or really looked into it, but it looks like the 140k could get me quite a bit. I checked out a Holiday Inn for our layovers for our Thanksgiving trip and I can get 5 in a room for 12,500. It's only about a $100 room, but if that's the kind of redemptions I can get the 140k would be worth about $1100. It could also be a good option for baseball tournament stays.

Any thoughts? Think this is worth going to 4/24? I am also over 5/24 and I'd like to get CP Dec 2021/Jan 2022 so this would mean no personal cards for P1 or P2 for 10 months.
There is a nice Hyatt Place near BWI for 5000 points a night. We had been staying at the a Courtyard but switched to Hyatt now.

What weekend in Charleston? We’ll be there Oct 23-24 :-) but we’re driving, only live 3 hours away. Make sure you go to the Charleston city market, one of my faves!
We are there the following weekend 10/29-11/1. I think we are staying at the Wild Dunes Resort. Love to hear suggestions!

Thank you, no fancy hotels for us either. As long as there is a pool and it's clean, we're happy. We'll be out of our element at the Grand Wailea next year 🤣

That's awesome!! I can't believe you could go all the way to MLK. One of my CA flights I could only change to mid Dec. After that it was going to charge the difference.
Really, I forgot I had walked my LAX from early Nov to early Feb. I wonder why you can’t walk yours.

Stayed four nights at Hyatt centric key west. Expensive. I think the 100k points are better used elsewhere like 4 nights at all inclusive in Cancun. Was a prefect resort. Small but right on water and walking to all of key west downtown.
Thanks! We actually ended up changing our plans for the Keys to visit DH’s sister for New Year’s in AZ. Maybe we’ll get there one day.

:rotfl: My frugality goes back a long ways, so I'm not too worried about myself but....my 15 year old daughter on the other hand...I better watch out:rotfl:

I'm the same way lol! I love nice resorts - DH is eligible for an annual sales trip if he has enough sales for the year. They are at awesome all inclusive resorts, so I'm know how nice they can be, but when it's my own money (or points), I just have a hard time forking them over. I will say now that DH and I are starting to travel on our own occasionally (other than his sales trips), I may start re-evaluating :)

I got the IHG card 3 years ago; right before the changed structure and AF fee Increase. I have yet to use any of the points or the free night. The point and reward night I have found to be not bookable for any trips as of yet; and if you are booking for the whole family a room for five is pretty difficult. So if you are thinking you would wanting for tournament stays I would just get on and see if those particular hotels have availability. So personally I don’t think it is worth a personal spot. But I am an Amex fan girl as of late and have been using personal slots for that...so I have that bias too.

I have a similar experience with a family of 5. I usually find somewhere to use the points and reward nights, but it takes a lot of searching. The most convenient hotels never have availability.

DH and I have the Disney Visa and haven't used them in over a year. Received a letter from Chase they were closing us for inactivity or we needed to swipe in 50 days to keep active. Closed via SM today.

I'll just sign up for the card again sometime soon and take some more free Disney bucks, thanks. :D

per r/churning:
> Looks like RR gift card redemptions have been needed further. $100 gc is 15000 points. Still pretty much all crappy options no amazon.

I just looked at my account and verified it. Of course there are no good options anyways, and flights was always a way better option to begin with. BUT I used to often mention that gift cards was a nice backup option with RRs. Well that definitely isn't the case anymore and unfortunately the good options probably won't return (or if they do it will be at a very poor value).

I was checking offers this morning on a BBP and got a pop up suggesting I add a gold biz card. Never had that happen before. It wasn’t advertising a great bonus or anything, just said “earn a special welcome offer”. What’s up with that?

I have the same offer... but no info, if I click on the terms and benefits it says the site is down.

Question because I think I might have missed something about Chase's 5/24 rule. Is it really true that you have to wait til the 1st of the month after your 5th card drops off to apply when you hit 4/24?

Select one of the Happy Cards with Gamestop. Next Redeem for Gamestop. Finally use the new Gamestop credit to but a $100 Playstation card,
Can this all be done online? I'd like to get my nephew a PS GC for Christmas but I am not currently in the US. I have the Happy Card promo on my personal platinum that I could use!

New offer for SW Visa card... seems to be a targeted off. I have 2 relatives who got it this morning. Spend $4000 in first 3 months, earn 30,000 points & a Companion Pass for 2021. An excellent offer IMHO (if you can travel in 2021) . I don’t see it on the SW site, they saw it when signing into their SW account. It is for the card with the $69 annual fee.

What is the welcome offer? Also, I've had the Biz Gold before, not even sure I would qualify for the special welcome offer.
Honestly I wasn’t sure what would happen (like would it automatically apply me?) so I just “x-ed” out! 😳
