I will try to use the AA miles for travel of some kind. DD lives in Philadelphia, so I will be able to use them next year for SOMETHING. My problem right now is I need ides for a good, non-travel use of B of A points.
I not only now have a bunch of AA miles back, I am going to have a Chase UR credit of $1200 for AA. I NEVER fly them. Guess when we reschedule Hawaii next fall, we will have to use them again. I cant' believe the flight schedule they are still flying daily to and from Hawaii. Who the heck are on all the planes, with the quarantine still fully in effect. Pretty expensive to fly planes just to avoid having to refund peoples money.

A fun SW note. DH has to go to Cleveland for work (he has never gone anywhere for work before), and his boss booked him on the cheapest flights. The flight there had a 3 1/2 hour layover! But with the magic red bar, I rebooked him to a better flight for now charge, via Twitter, and shortened his layover by an hour and 45 minutes.

Have a cruise booked for March (hopefully). Used one of my Marriott Free Night Certificates for the hotel the night before. Brother and SIL and Niece are now coming with us. I had another Free Night Certificate (which is not going to get used for anything ) but it was to expire on 2/15/21. I called Marriott and asked if they could extend it a bit - she was able to do so as long as I booked the room right then. So, at least I got use of the free night and my brother gets a free room. Hotel room is running around $200 so good use of them.

DH and I decided to take Mon and Tues off then tried to figure out what to do. So we‘re off to Orlando to enjoy some pool time at Hilton Bonnet Creek. It was a steal and hopefully Diamond status will get us a sweet upgrade. If not, we’ll at least get breakfast for free. No parks in the plans just relaxation.
Interested to hear how your stay was, looking to stay there next month. We would do parks but a bit of pool/hotel time too.

I grew up in CT and chose UVA over University of Pennsylvania because I hate being cold. Then I moved to Chicago upon graduating. Not my brightest move.
:) My DD's top 2 choices were in Southern California and Philly area. She chose CA and stayed there after graduation. She was also an athlete and playing lacrosse in Feb in CA was more fun than Feb in PA!

I think doc posted that some people are getting $10 for purchases over $20
hmmmm it was $12 purchase .... interesting. I'll take it tho,and hope the others I did this week credit too! (I've been hitting all the local farmstands with this offer...so much fresh produce!

I had to call into WDW Group Reservations to pay the balance (because apparently there is no way to do it through the Dapper Days link) and I was connected to a lovely young lady who said "Dapper Days is like my Christmas!" so we had a nice chat, and she kindly looked up my 6 day park tickets for me because the confirmation email said they would MAIL them to me (convention rate tickets)... so they're all linked and I made my park reservations and now I need to figure out what kinds of dining reservations we might want!

Oh and of course put a nice dent in the MSR....

Group rates like that and room only you can only pay via the phone. For all that Disney does with stuff why these two are still so archaic makes me wonder every time I have to call and pay. Most of the phone people are super nice and helpful though.

lacrosse isnt as popular on the west coast than east coast. I caught on the trend as it was growing in CA. fun sport... although women and men lacrosse is so vastly different lol.

Yup. There is a big difference even within our state - western PA lags behind the eastern part in both lacrosse and field hockey. It's funny, she was an average player in HS here, but a leading scorer in college.

Has anyone been able to stack the Amex $5 off $10 offer on multiple transactions from the same business? My friend’s framing shop is on the list but most custom framing jobs cost more than $10. She’d be happy to run our cards multiple times and DH and I both have the offer and would like to maximize the value...

It's my niece's senior year too. I'm very bummed for her. Thankful she's a smart kid and wise beyond her years so she's taking it in stride (honestly, probably much better than I would have my senior year). Hanover sounds like a recipe for disaster.

My niece is planning to apply to UVA early decision and they've already said SATs are not mandatory. She's taken them and has a good score, but is debating whether or not to include it in her application.
DD will also be applying to UVA (Engineering) early action.

Good luck to them! DS got in with Early Action Engineering. He is so excited to start.

Monday Mom drove herself to my house for her morning walk. Monday night she called that she fell at home. SIL and I went to get her and brought her home to my house. That night I went to work and she was able to get herself back and forth to the bathroom. Last night she would call me and I would go with her to the bathroom. Then this morning she got much weaker. We took her to the hospital for a workup and got no obvious answers. Tonight it was taking 2 of us to transfer to bed. We could use a few prayers this way.😢
So sorry to hear this. Praying for you all.

I guess that's what they'll have to do. But extracurriculars are strongly affected by this too. DD is in theater and volleyball, and I rather doubt those are going to be allowed this fall (and even if they were I don't know if I'd allow her to do them). If kids were relying on extracurriculars to strengthen their apps, so much is affected by groups being limited in numbers (rightfully so, I totally understand the reasoning for it). I can say that DD has taken several AP classes in 9th and 10th grade, and once they went to online for the rest of last school year, it was a poor substitute for actual in-person classes. Perhaps that's because the teachers were thrown into it and some adapted easily and some didn't; same as for the students. Her violin lessons became zoom lessons and that was lame. Some things do not transition well to online instruction.

So true. Plus there's a strong correlation of test scores to zip codes where wealthier communities' students have lots of support and opportunities. Still it would have been a boon to DD since she is a good test taker and did well on both the SAT and ACT in 9th grade, and I was hoping she'd get a chance to boost those scores (based on the pre-covid paradigm). Oh well. Like everyone has to, we will adapt and do the best we can given what the situation is. At this point just staying healthy physically and mentally is the primary goal in my mind.
DS is taking mostly AP/honors classes for the first time this year. I'm worried for him for those classes because we are starting off virtual (no choice here). Hoping he learns enough to make them useful. He has ADHD and does better in person. I was also not impressed with the online learning learning this past year, and our district was already set up well for it. We're now in a new district and I'm sure they've been planning for it, so we'll see how it goes!

It is going to be rough with the online learning. All kids learn differently that is for sure. DD took many many AP classes and 3 of them she just took the test, did not take the class, and still got 5s. She is unusual, I am sure, lol but you can self study for these classes and don't necessarily need a teacher at all. Though I do think it would be harder with Physics or Calculus to self study. I can not remember which ones she took without the class.

Or maybe it was just a bad test taking day for the 610 person? 610s grandmother had just passed and she took them so not to lose the money? Or 750 had the advantage of multiple test taking preps than 610 didn’t? I guess I just don’t put a lot of stock in one day tests.
Not a fan of the tests. I’m not a good test taker and I took the sat once and act once. Then the GRE once. Figured they had my transcripts to see my grades. Got in both colleges and I knew others who applied to the same grad program who had higher test scores but their transcripts weren’t as diverse. So I do think some do take a look at the whole student vs one test score

Well the last cancellation of the year hs finally come through. We had already cancelled our Ireland trip and got our URs back for Ashford Castle but had not cancelled the flights. We were waiting to see if British Airways would wind up cancelling them. They did and we will be getting our miles and taxes and fees back in full. They also extended our travel together ticket until March of next year. I highly doubt we will be able to use it though.
Sorry you had to cancel but glad you got all your points and no fees

I got an odd credit...I used my card at the farmers market last week 4 times,4 vendors. I got 3 credits, one of them was for $10...:confused3 I'm guessing it's a mistake it should have counted as 4 $5 credits(?) anyway at least it's working...it did take a few days to post
Were the charges the same company? I had my $5 credits combined to a $35 credit

I bought candy from the same shop within 5 minutes of each transaction to create 2 transactions and they both posted.
