We’ve stayed at YC and loved it, but I showed DH a picture of the BW pool 😂 and he thinks it needs to be remodeled before we commit to BWV - I guess he’s not a fan of the clown 🤡.
I ran into this same problem, when I was planning my honeymoon. The garden suite didn't end up being in the budget anyway, but DH would not have gone near that pool with me...

Happy Saturday everyone! Thanks for all the tips on buying DVC, I’m getting antsy, but I must be patient we have a budget and must wait for the right contract.

In other great news, our Utah trip is happening. We leave in 40 days. We will spend 9 nights visiting all 5 National Parks and swinging down to Arizona to visit Lower Antelope Canyon. I need to finish planning our hikes. What is your favorite hike at each park?

You should still have the additional 3 months, AmEx is still advertising it on the card pages. I'd guess it's like the Chase trackers that don't update, the CSRs have the usual system info that calculates 90 days but really you're part of the covid-19 extension. (Or you got an uninformed chat rep that just makes it up as they go, had one of those before)
https://www.americanexpress.com/en-us/company/notice/covid-19/#welcome-offers
And while the pandemic isn't new at this point, people are still a little gunshy about committing to spending so much money in a short time frame. Knowing you have extra time may entice people to get the card anyway and keep spend flowing through AmEx versus a competitor. Which is why I think they had advertised a set date in the future when they announced.

Maybe, his 90 days was accurate, was a day before I thought it would be but I wasn't accounting for 2 months with 31 days. When I did chat for the Plat after they'd done the extension he gave me the new correct date in August, I met it in less than 3 months. It won't be a problem doing this one in 3 months and maybe he did give me the wrong info but he took time like they always do in looking it up. If it was more I'd have questioned it.

ETA the only tracker I have on my hilton card is for the 15k free night, which is at least nice to have since it also tracks meeting my spend.

Exciting. Hope you have a great trip. Here are our favorites.
Arches - Delicate Arch. For a short hike we liked Sand dune hike
Canyonlands - island in the sky. Mesa Arch is must do but not really a hike (.5 mi)
Grand view trail was a favorite.
Zion- the Narrows followed by Angels Landing ( only went to Scouts overlook)
Bryce - due to my knee issues we did the horseback ride into the canyon. Then we just did some rim hikes and overlooks.

Apparently as of May 1 HawaiianMiles can not be transferred into Hilton points. I thought this was mentioned here before, but it's not something I follow closely so I'm not sure who was discussing this option. (Sorry)

I was planning to do this after our Hawaii trip. A little advance notice would have been nice. I don’t know I will be able to use my Hawaiian Miles at all now.

Have only been to Zion, but the Narrows is the most awe inspiring place we have ever been. Two tips-go as early in the morning as possible. You will have the canyon almost to yourself. It is a totally different experience early in the day. Also do rent the walking stick and the water shoes from the outfitter. It is 25 dollars well spent and you can thank me later!😃

But I have kids who will want to do the slide! I brought it up tonight and no one cares about the clown. So, I guess I will just need to sit where I can't see Pennywise the nice clown.
lol, that is true. I just like the peacefulness by the quiet pool, nothing to do with the clown really.

The shoes are vital if you want to spend a lot of time in the narrows (we call them the jello shoes) and agree with all the above as to time etc. It's pretty crowded for the first 1/2 mile or so,those shoes will help you get past the initial crowds to the glorious beauty within.... We spent 7 hours in there exploring (with our jello shoes!)

Are you going to Capitol Reef Nat'l park? We did a couple really nice hikes there, but I've gotta go back and figure out the names. We fell in love with Capitol Reef. Gorgeous park and few people.

Bryce - not so many choices. We took the hike everyone takes, down the switchbacks, across the bottom and up the other side. I don't recall trail names, but it will be obvious I think when you're there.

Zion - we hiked Angels Landing. It was scary, and there were TONS of people. I wouldn't recommend it or do it again.

Grand Canyon South Rim - you can hike the rim which is nice, or if you're up for something harder, you can take Bright Angel down into the canyon (take lots of water!). South Kaibab is an option into the canyon, but there's no water on that one, so I'd probably avoid it.

Grand Canyon North Rim - North Kaibab is the only option down into the Canyon. The first time we visited, we hiked down a couple miles then turned around and came back. Steep! We hiked a few others on the North Rim, but I'll have to see if I can figure out which ones. Let me know if you're going there, and I'll check for you.

Oooh and we did a terrific hike in Grand Staircase Escalante that ended in a GORGEOUS waterfall. It was a highlight and the hike was easy. I'll have to look that one up too. We stopped to do this hike while driving between Capitol Reef and Bryce.

I love those Utah parks. You will have a great time!

I remember this!! I love all the pics you share here!

Thanks! I don't mind sharing pics. I just wish I had some new travel pics to share from our travel hacking adventures. 2020 is looking like a whole lotta points and no where to go. Our latest cancellation was for what was supposed to be our first DVC Vero Beach stay over Memorial weekend. It got cancelled by DVC a few days ago. I had originally used Sep UY 2019 points to book the stay before the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. When I saw that DVC would return borrowed points back to their UY if they cancelled, I called in and switched out those 2019 points so I could bank them and used borrowed points so I wouldn't be stuck with soon to expire points if DVC cancelled. Glad I did that. So another trip bites the dust. I have a handful of speculative reservations for WDW for June and July but I'm not really counting those as trips. If they happen great, if not, great.

The next real vacation up to bat is Northern Ireland and Ireland in September, followed by Dubai and Africa in December. That's a long time in an N95 mask for both trips. I can swing it since I wear them for work (I'm back at work and off furlough) and have finally gotten used to wearing one all day. I dunno if PlanePrincess can though. I'm hoping there is a solid cure or preventative therapeutic by then.

This year I feel like truck stuck in the mud, spinning my wheels and going nowhere. Y'all know I'm normally vacation planned out for at least the next 2 - 3 years. Beyond December, I've got nothing and haven't even begun to try and plan anything. So much uncertainty. If I didn't have the current September and December trips booked I think I'd be all over booking and changing flights with Qatar to get business class seats at a really great price. But, I don't want to wind up getting left with a travel voucher. I've already got a few of those from cancelled trips that I'm not sure what I'm going to do with just yet. #firstworldproblems So for the first time, I find myself having no idea where I may be going next year.

I can't remember if anyone said they got credit or not, but I rented When Harry Met Sally just now and used my Plat. I'll let you know if it credits.

And yes, I've never seen it which is why it's one of my movies from the 80's I'm watching this year. Sadly, I forgot to write down the movies I watched for a few weeks and can't remember what I watched one of them, which really says something about the movie. Hopefully I'll eventually remember. I searched through this thread and my texts and stuff and couldn't find it and my mom couldn't remember so clearly it was a fantastic movie :rotfl2:

My favorite movie of all time!

One of the (two) DL-area hotels I have a reservation for in late June just emailed me to cancel. They're closed through June 30.

Bummer. Hyatt House reservation is still good (AFAIK!) for now.

I wonder if BW knows something concrete, or they're just being cautious?

Good thing I didn't need that stay to meet MSR!

I have two trips booked for Disney in November and early March. If it was up to my DH we would already have cancelled November but I am holding out hoping we can still go. He says he won’t fly until there is a vaccine, so we may still go in March but drive down when we have more time off from work to do so.
