Is everyone already pulling the plug on their April trips? I know I should...having a hard time doing it tho. Room booked via portal on points-easy cancel- flights on swa-easy cancel- tix thru portal...not sure about how to fix those yet.... I thought April 11 would be ok, but I don't think so anymore....at least as far as travel goes. It's a tough one,bc I have a sick feeling it'll all be open for business by then (maybe I'm nuts) and then I'm going to be struggling with FOMO bc I can see it (online, virtually) but I can't go bc I canceled...... I feel like I need to make a firm decision.

As you can read in the last couple of pages, I have been whining about not pulling the plug yet, and my indecision.

On a churning note, I am anxiously awaiting my support points for Dh's CIP that he got a week and a half ago. They did not show up in my account last Tuesday so crossing my fingers they show up today.

The official DVC Corona Virus policy page says otherwise:
"To make the process of changing reservations as smooth as possible, Disney Vacation Club has lifted the close-in reservation cancellation restrictions and will return any of your Points back as Vacation Points or Reservation Points without placing them into holding. In the meantime, all Points banking rules remain in place."
https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/travel-information/
There's enough rumors floating around. I suggest people get into the habit of checking every "someone on Facebook/a friend I trust/I saw on Twitter" personal data points against official statements. Is it possible DVC has changed its policy and informed telephone CMs, who are implementing it perfectly, but nobody has updated the website? I suppose. It's much more likely a CM misspoke, or a DVC member misunderstood, or something was mangled through multiple communications. And even if the policy has changed prior to a public announcement, the public announcement will come soon enough that it is not worth spreading what is likely disinformation.

I realize with you being at 31 days you have a special interest in this information being correct. By all means call and see what they tell you if it will give you comfort. I find it very unlikely that Disney made a decision 2 days ago and has already reconsidered it, becoming less generous to members, then enforcing the policy without making it public to the detriment of people who relied on the public information.

Got this stuck to my fridge when I came in about an hour ago. It still says no holding points:

Another sideways picture! But I do like that they are making sure we get the messages plus the free magnet is a nice little touch!

But we were out choosing another dream. N1 couldn't decide so maybe she'll surprise me later when she grows up.

I have seen several reports of people cancelling early-mid April trips now, less than 30 days and points not being put into holding.
I did go ahead and cancel our 3/31-4/3 and 4/3-4/4 bookings and all points, including the 4/3-4/4 went back to my 2019 UY and not into holding. I guess now I need to bank them since my 'bank by' date is 3/31...?

ETA: Still just not sure about our May trip. I'm confused what happens to those points if they are still closed or they're open but travel is still difficult...Those points are borrowed from 2020 and I'm fine banking them with the 2019 but I really don't want to be forced to use by 7/20. I'm not sure we can get down to wdw until Aug if May doesn't happen.

Oh I’m never giving up my pasta lol. Does it help that we only buy whole wheat?

No. lol, I was really referring to you having a second dinner with a big plate of buttery pasta and can't you tell I'm jealous??? I can't eat like that. 1/2 cup of spaghetti is not much spaghetti on my plate. Which is what is for dinner tonight, little (homemade) meatballs and spaghetti with parmigiana reggiano and garlic bread and wine for me just this once. I may or may not end up with much more than a 1/2 cup, especially after I have a few sips of wine.

And, I went to Publix near Seapines Circle and it was full of people but not overwhelming. The shelves weren't bare but they weren't even close to full either.
For @striker1064 - there were full stocks of beer and wine - no empty spots! Maybe I should shop before I leave on Friday and get what we need before driving home.

Can you cancel Amex cards online? I have decided to not keep my SPG cards. I love those free nights, but with all this Bonvoy business going on I think I can find plenty of other hotel options

Ours is earlier than yours (first weekend in April) but haven't pulled the plug yet. I have serious doubts Disney will be back open Apr 1 and even if they are what kind of reductions in staffing will they have just a few days after reopening? And will travel in two weeks seem like a good idea? So in all likelihood we will cancel but holding out until the last minute.

Honestly, I keep wondering if they'll charge me full price for my discounted magic band if I cancel. Has anyone heard anything about that? For $10 it's cute, for $30? Nah, you can keep it. When I put the order in this hadn't blown up yet and I didn't expect to be shutdown so soon, so I didn't think and ordered it on my Hotwire night reservation. That reservation would get flat out cancelled I think if Disney stays closed, whereas my RO ressie direct with Disney could just be rescheduled and wouldn't even have to think about the band. It's the goofy little things I think about.

Can't bring myself to do it. Do I know I'm losing my mid-April Disneyland trip? Yes. But I'll deal with it when it happens. I called to cancel my WDW reservation to make sure refunds all processed right but I let Disney cancel all my dining (which they did automatically). I plan to do the same for Disneyland. I'm not doing one thing a computer will do for me right now, it's just so painful to look at the trips that would/could have been.

Chase Ink Preferred 100,000 Points Offer With $15,000 Spend (Public Offer)
Due to other more lucrative strategies (especially in 2 player mode) I'm personally giving this one a PASS for now... but for some with really high organic spend, this might interest you!

FYI - Support Links still show the tried and true 80k/$5k offer!

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-ink-preferred-100000-points-offer-with-15000-spend/

I would copy and save your CIP support links for the 80k/$5k offer in case Chase switches the support offer to the higher SUB/higher MSR offer.

I cancelled our trip, which was 3/31-4/4. It made me very sad to do it cause I was excited about our dvc stay (two new resorts) and we had great FP's plus it was just dh & I going to see our dd. But I highly doubt wdw is back open and even more doubtful they will have brought any of the CP's back yet.

So my gym hasn’t closed yet but I’m not currently going. They just started live streaming workout classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and saturdays and it is amazing! It’s on Facebook so I can go back and watch whenever. I love being able to pause it and go at my own pace

Would the 2020 points not go back to 2020? I thought that was supposed to happen, but I'm not sure. I don't think much of anyone is at this point.

I briefly thought of this and then filed it away. I also have ordered discounted bands for this May trip, they haven't shipped yet so I wonder if they will just cancel them, continue as is or charge more. I don't think they can charge more without notifying and getting approval, can they?

This is an absolute awful time I know, but how do I move my Chase booking (Riviera via UR) into MDE? I believe a call to Disney Wholesale? Does anyone have the number handy so I can do that eventually. I'm trying hard to find the good and focusing on a July trip would help. I feel like we're facing a 2 month closure and July should be good to go.

And, WWYD? I'll have 2019 points banked into 2020. I can book Shades of Green in September and January. I have a September trip and planned for SOG, which I should have already booked. I can use these banked points instead, use them to extend Nov/Dec trip or hold them for a 2021 trip once I know how long APs will be extended. I think I'm leaning toward the last option.

That's what DoC is posting too. I went ahead and applied from a referral from DH. Instant approval!!! Only a 5K limit but I'll take it. I had lowered a couple of personal card limits 2 weeks ago, but hadn't done the business cards yet. I knew I was treading in low limit territory.

I saw his post about tax payment due dates being pushed out 90 days. Filing still due on April 15 but payments can be postponed if necessary. I dropped my info off at the accountant today. I'm sure I can meet my MSR with taxes.

My DH's company is talking furlows already. He's in sales of large printing equipment. Customers already not letting them in. My work is dwindling. MDs telling patients not to come.

I have 2 current cc problems.

The first is that I used my biz plat to pay in full for our June 6 Arctic cruise with Quark. We are waiting for them to cancel it, and when they do I will get a full refund. I could move the trip to next May, but it's very hard to commit when I don't know what dd is going to want to do next summer (hopefully look for a summer job in the engineering field). Or I could give them an obscene amount of money to go on a 15 day cruise in August, but I don't want to do this (our June cruise was only 7 days). If they refund to the biz plat then I lose the MRs. Is it possible, if they cancel the cruise, (which I expect they will), to tell them the card was cancelled and ask them to mail me a check? That way I won't lose the points.

Second is the MSR on a new Chase card. I was going to use this card for the PIF for our May / June Russia & N. European trip. I am trying to get our deposit back from Scott Dunn (currently they are not willing to offer me a refund, rather force me to go on the trip, thus PIF by Friday, or schedule a new date, neither of which we want to do -- we just want the money back). If we don't make the PIF then I don't meet the MSR. I'm slightly more than halfway. First world problems for sure. I am going to try to put our mortgage payment on Plastique in April, but the payment currently gets debited directly from my HSBC account, so not sure what's involved in changing payment method.

Can't answer your questions but you can only pay a mortgage with plastiq with a mc or discover, no visa or amex and no more gift cards.

Are there any ulitiies you can prepay?
