Not sure if anyone is up for a celebration.....but my SUBs posted for the AmEx personal and biz plats! So 193,751 MRs in my US account and 37,000 in my Cdn account (they can be combined) :flower1::yay::yay:.

Also got the points back from the WA Maldives and I now have 611,000 HH points + the FNC I had redeemed (this is not including the 3 nights I have booked at the WA Caledonia in Edinburgh in September).

Plus all the URs I got back from the cancelled flights and hotels today. So, trying to figure out travel plans for the next 2 years :rolleyes1:rolleyes1. Next spring is taken with our postponed Arctic, Russia and N. Europe trip. If this situation settles down then I'll be looking at Banff / Lake Louise on our own for this summer with dd and ds, but I am in no rush to book it.

Yeah, even DD thought it was safer in Norway than here. Are you across the Bay or near me? We are in the area with "all the cases." :( All my friends with kids in college in the US are saying that they had to come home as well.
We are in East Bay (Alameda county) so across the bay from you, I think. I really hope we can buckle down and get a handle on this quickly so all these kids can go back to school!

I'll be honest... it's only recently that I've seen this "influencer" title (?) come around. I find the whole thing rather... distasteful, really. Although the lady that does "Disneyland Daily" seems like a sweetheart. I "liked" her page but I think since that time she became "official" with Disneyland, plus with GAT, and maybe some other companies too, and now she has a staff (she was a one-woman show at the time, if I'm not mistaken). I still like her but I almost feel like I liked her better when she was JUST her. (In fact, her "title" changed to Disneyland Daily from something else and I remember being a bit disappointed that it changed, too. Probably had to, to be an official Disneyland infuencer!)

Sorry, that was really rambly!

Casey at Disneyland Daily isn't an influencer. She started as the DLR offshoot of WDW prepschool and then went out/bought out on her own to do Disneyland Daily. She's in the parks weekly redoing touring plans etc. She's hooked up with a TA and some other sponsor/products she supports. She does get invited by DLR just like the Dis gets invited by DLR or WDW. She's a great resource for planning DLR if you've never been or even if you need a refersher. Plus she's a hoot. I've been following her on fb since she started as part of WDW prepschool, which was one of the sites along with the Dis that I used to plan our first trip in 2014. Prepschool was just the one person at that point and now it's two. I still follow her but don't use her info as much because I can find pretty much everything on the dis somewhere. If she has staff that's news to me, it still seems like it's just her but that she spends time with friends an others that she's met through her thing with disney. I don't look for her opinions on stuff so much as her info.

I didn't know most of that! Thanks! And I agree, she is a hoot!

Me, too. Norway finally took a very strong stance, and DD worries they will fix it there and then not let her in because of where she lives. She's crushed that she can't finish her research. Of course, we talked about the big picture and how we have to protect everyone.

My parents are at their rental house in Florida where they spend the winter. I can’t decide whether to tell them to start driving home or not. Their from Long Island where there’s a fair outbreak going, although Florida’s going pretty well too.

If they came home I could drive the 3 hours every week and drop off groceries for them. I work in healthcare, so I’m the designated outside of the house person.

They’d need at least one if not two overnight stops. They would have to head home by March 31st no matter what.

This whole situation has me a whole ball of anxiety. And of course I’m supposed to be the calm rational one in the family so everyone keeps asking me for advice.

Is is like July or August yet?

Eh. She probably wasn't washing often enough, or she needed to use a wetpail instead of her diaper-laundry drypail.
The last time I was this thankful that we cloth diaper was when we had a late-spring snowstorm and got 3ft of heavy, wet snow dumped on us in about 36 hours and didn't have power for 5 days (then borrowed a generator to get the essentials running for another 3 days...helps that DH is an electrician and we could make a 200amp portable generator do what we needed), and couldn't get plowed out for the first 4 days. Our 3rd baby was 4 months old at the time and my husband quit complaining about the number of cute diapers I had collected after the 4th day. People are stocking up on diapers around here and I don't plan on going back to a store until we are completely out of bread, milk, fruit, and fresh veggies. So, probably Wednesday.
you sound like a pro! Yes,all you moms out there who cloth diaper are one step ahead of the game :thumbsup2 I'm totally onboard with the cloth diapering thing (both my sisters do it with their kiddos) but cloth tp? Nooooooo, only in the most extreme emergency situation would I go with that idea....

Worst case scenario FL sort of scares me because there are so many older people. So maybe they run into an issue like Italy (demographics skew pretty old) with hospital beds.

My parents are snowbirds. I'd love to tell them to go to Northern Michigan where I think they're less likely to be infected. But they don't listen to anything I say so I'm not even going to try! My sister has been trying to persuade my mom to stay home and stock up but my mom wasn't listening as of Thursday.

Went to Publix, Food Lion, Kroger, and Costco. Food Lion actually had toilet paper. Costco had no ground beef. Otherwise things weren't too bad. No terrible lines. People were in decent spirits.
I went to Sams today. It wasn’t crowded at all because the shelves were empty. I think the disboards are pretty doom and gloom, but it’s gotta be worse on other social media sites for people to acting in this manner.

People that were there in were good spirits and laughing about the whole thing. Traffic is awful. I think people are driving around wondering what to do since Spring training is cancelled.
The weather is warm and gorgeous, hopefully the tourist can enjoy some pool time and golf. Our golf course was packed as per usual.

I think this is a situation they are damed if they do xyz and damed if they don’t do xyz. .....Whatever they do some people are going to say it’s not enough, while others think it’s an over reaction
Here on LI we have school closures.....some agree...others don’t ...in my neighborhood if they thought the kids would stay home, they were sadly mistaken...they are still together walking around, going to stores etc..

the NYC school system has not closed...even though some think they should due to the students taking the subway, buses etc..while others feel it’s fine...so :confused3
yeah...no rhyme or reason at this point.... close the big parks, schools, churches etc....people just congregate at stores and local restaurants.... how is closing the other stuff supposed to help slow the spread?

Went to Costco this morning, arriving 10 minutes before opening. The lot was pretty full but there were some spaces available at the far corner of the lot. As walked towards the entrance I could see the line of people snaking from the door to the end of the first parking aisle where it swung around and went the entire length of the second aisle, cut across the third aisle to the sidewalk where it ended about half way down the length of that third aisle. I decided not to stay but as I was driving away I decided to head back figuring my best chance at getting what I needed was at a store that was just opening instead of grocery stores that had been open for hours.

Headed back and the line was half the size, moving very quickly. Employees were stationed along the line keeping things in order. Only 400 people were allowed in at one time. The handle of the cart was wiped as I went in. I joined a line for TP that snaked from the back of the warehouse half way towards the front. Two minutes later they ran out of TP so I headed to the back for the two things I wasn’t able to get at Safeway, bananas and eggs. Also picked up dishwasher and laundry detergent, trash bags and, for some reason, a four pound box of butter. Checkout was quick with only about four carts in each line. I was out of there by 10:00.

The food court was serving a limited menu for take out only. All tables and chairs had been removed.

It was a surreal experience. Many people were taking pics of the lines.

I felt paranoid for buying the 3 pack of organic ground beef at Costco last week because I still had 1 in the freezer. I feel better now that I did.

Tough spot to be in. Is Instacart available in their area? Would allow them to get groceries delivered and they wouldn't have to risk the travel.

Crazy. At least people were behaving well it sounds like.

Also kinda funny they've been counting people coming in all these years for other data but now it's like necessary in the moment" how many bodies do we have in here?!" data....

Update on my Chase Travel phone call.
Talked to someone at the 1:15 mark. Rep said she had to call Universal to get their okay to give me the pts back for the tickets.
She put me on hold to call them. She kept coming back and saying she was on hold with them and to keep waiting.
Line just cut off at the 1:30 mark!!
My guess is I won't be receiving a call back.
I was so hopeful!

I don’t know about Florida, but the snowbirds leave here about April 1st. Our hospitals do not run at full capacity in the Summer. We really slow down from May to September, and we still have a lot of retired people that live here year round. We usually close down units and cancel staff. Im not worried about lack of beds or staff in the upcoming months.

I thought about doing a travel gig in Florida last Summer, but their wasn’t any positions open. There busy season is similar to ours. Some of our travel nurses are heading to Seattle for the Corona Virus money.
