We use Epic also and we just got remote access. I don’t do much education either really- some low fiber and ostomy discharge Ed, but their talking about postponing non emergent surgeries.

I was in Pittsburgh during H1N1 and I don’t remember it being terrible by us. I was working in a large tertiary care hospital where they’d bring in very sick people from hundreds of miles around too. But nothing where the ICUs were overflowing.

My DH did get it though. Early on, his sample was sent to the cdc and everything. Somehow I managed not to get it.
Are you able to input your own orders? We have privileges to order any diets or supplements without a consult, any TF or TPN once consulted. Makes it very easy, I manage all the TF in ICU.
For H1N1, I think Illinois was one of the particularly hard hit states. I recall the hospital having to rent extra vents and being told they were being brought in from out of state as every supplier in IL was out. Plus lots of RNs got H1N1, so staffing was awful. They made everyone suspected stay home for a week. The following year (and since) everyone was mandated to get flu shots, no excuses.

For homeschool resources, my advice is read books and play outside a lot. For the younger kids anyway. I also really like Dragon Box. It’s a math game you can get as an app for your device.
My son hates reading, so a month or more of telling him to read will be awful. It’s possible they may miss the whole 4th quarter of school, so I want him to do something constructive. When I’m not home, I know he will watch TV and play games. No way he’s going to do schoolwork without supervision, although a math game might be acceptable. I will check out Dragon Box, is it appropriate for a 5th grader?

We can enter our own orders. We just can’t initiate a tpn- but once the resident orders it I can go into their order and do whatever I want lol. I work at the largest hospital in my system- the only tertiary care facility- the rest are small community hospitals, so things are weird cause we had to let the old grumpy mds there have some input. Every resident where I work and basically every attending except one would be happy to just let us do anything we wanted.

I just like to go in to room and make sure the tpn is running at the right rate, and the right tf formula is hanging at the right rate. And double check drips and stuff. Because when things are bad in the icu the epic flowsheets are always updated.

I just gave my neighbor eight rolls of toilet paper. They were desperate they've been out searching since 6 am. My kid's homeschool assignment is to figure out the psychology behind why people panic buy toilet paper. I'm also having them write papers on the Stafford Act....the good and the bad.

Dh went to Walmart by himself. They’re completely out of all bread, almost all shredded cheese, all brats are gone, no frozen vegetables. These are things we need regularly so I’m not sure what we’re gonna do. This is getting a little ridiculous. All there is left to buy is junk food
I’m planning on going to the grocery store early tomorrow in hopes they’ve restocked things overnight.

Supply chains are cut off. If you can wait a few days people will probably realized they don’t need anymore food and the stores will be mostly normal again.

My mom was a prepper. When we moved her into an assisted living we had to sell her house. We laughed at how much toilet paper she had in storage. I took all the toilet paper home and it lasted me over a year. My moms having the last laugh right now. When this is all over I'm going to become my mom and store about a year's worth of toilet paper. Hopefully, my kids can inherit it someday.

I live in the boonies, so I always stock pile it. But of course it was running a bit lower than I like.

My mom was too, I think because she was a depression baby based on the stories she use to tell us....when she passed away last year there was a lot of stuff in her house, unfortunately some of it was canned stuff that had expired years ago

I have no idea when our Walmart restocks but I’m definitely not making Dh go back again tomorrow lol. We actually use a ton of bread so that really stinks. I told him to get bagels so we can make those for breakfast instead of toast. Idk what we’ll do about sandwiches

When my parents moved into my Great Aunt's house, they didn't have to buy TP for well over a year. She also had about 50 bars of soap under each sink! I joked to my mom today that Aunt Louise would have been more than ready if she were still alive today.

My mom is a depression baby, but she also lived on an earthquake fault. In addition to that she was ready for the end times. This woman was prepped for a nuclear war. She even had the iodine tablets.

Lol ...we are the opposite DH has been on a low carb thing for a year.....I think the last time I bought bread was when making sauerbraten and needed it to make croutons for the potato balls

Luckily I bought toilet paper at target a couple days ago before it started getting crazy here. If we did run out I can always use Kleenex or take a shower lol

Ok guys I went shopping today too before I picked my son up from college for an unknown amount of time. No toilet paper to be found but I did splurge on Mickey Bars!
#priorities
That's what I picked up the other night. Almost bought multiple boxes since that row was fully stocked!

Dh eats a sandwich every single day for lunch at work. He also eats toast for breakfast and I do as well. So we go through almost two loaves a week

I was at Publix just after 7 this morning and they had re-stocked (after the shelves being almost empty yesterday around 4). I'd try first thing as they have may have overnight deliveries.
