Question about AF on a cc..... Barclay AA cc..... the AF just came due...(2/28) I'd like to not pay that, will canceling this card do anything negative to my (teeny tiny) stash of AA points? Or is there a card I can pc to without an AF? I don;t have much Barclay experience....
I would think your AA points are safe. They are in your AA account. Go ahead and cancel!

Update on the flight from Male to Doha. After almost 2.5 hours on the phone with Chase, it's still not resolved. They wouldn't budge on the cancellation fee, so I agreed to pay $115.00 pp (I think that was the amount -- it's $295.00 if you are a no show). But during the call Chase's system went down so I wasn't able to cancel. I have to have faith that Ramaleen will call me back when their systems are back up as she promised. Otherwise I will be going through this process again when I have the energy.

I still can't get through to DVC.

I'm supposed to have a Sam's pick up order today. I told DH we'll see how it goes, I'm planning on madness but I'd rather deal with madness for a pick up order than madness trying to get around the store. Beyond that if we want/need anything else or something we want is missing from our order, we'll hit the grocery store at 10pm and just get what we get 🤷‍♀️

I finally got through to Delta on their cancellation line. Was given a credit for future use. I'll take it. Heading off to the grocery before work. Slightly stressed about things and about going to work. I'm a PT in an outpatient clinic. My boss was very resistant earlier this week to order hand sanitizer etc. I'm hoping that supplies got ordered.

My sister went food shopping at 7am this morning....she was in and out since the stores were empty then
My DH wanted me to pick up shrimp and cookies at Costco since he’s having 7 guys over to play cards tonight ....there was a line to get into the store...hmm no not happening

We're in the planned to retire next year. I'm still hoping that can happen. We have our assets allocated properly. Stocks are a long term bucket. Big factor is the real estate market. We are planning on listing our condo in a few weeks. The sooner that sells the better. It's paid for, but it would be nice to get that in cash and safe.
We are in the planned to retire in 2-5 years. We were in the midst of talking to a financial planner. Just glad we didn't put a lot more in stocks this year. We did shift some. Now, I am thinking we will work at least 5 years unless the market bounces back enough before then. Fortunately, we can still work.

I was having some random thoughts before I actually got up this morning about our community.

For those of you in the medical community, first of all, my thank you for what you do everyday. It can't be easy being on the front lines so to speak, even if you haven't dealt with a covid 19 case. I am grateful for your expertise and if I am unlucky enough to be a victim of this virus, so glad that we have people that care enough to help.

For those of you who may have already contracted this virus and are struggling to get through it and back to a normal healthy life, may you get all the care and support you need. With the fear, I would guess that it is difficult to openly talk about this experience (unless you are a super star like Tom Hanks and wife) and get the normal support that a community provides. I (we) are thinking of you and want you well and healthy.

And for those of us sharing minor disappointments in life such as having to reschedule trips, missing sports teams play, it will all come full circle (okay.....here's where everyone breaks into song - The Circle of Life.) This too shall pass and hopefully we will all be stronger and kinder to each other after the experience.

Meanwhile, get the economy going by buying up those stocks but please let there be some groceries left on the shelves this morning!
My brother texted me from Cali this morning.

"You must be working a lot of overtime these days?"

"no were slow they're calling off nurses"

"Then why am I heading out at 6 am in search of toilet paper?"

"I guess people are too busy trying to find toilet paper to come to the hospital"

The lesson I've learned from this is that the unlikely event of something bad happening isn't what you need to prepare for. It is the mass panic over the fear of something bad happening is what requires advance preparation. Going forward I will always keep at least one 40 roll package of toilet paper in my garage.

AAVacations called me back after about 2-1/2 hours. Now I’m apparently in their hold queue. Been holding twenty minutes so far. This trip was DS19’s Christmas and birthday present so I guess over his long spring break we’ll plan what to do.

I’m really glad I used my Boxed Amex offer last to buy tp and tissues. Went to Kroger this morning around 9 and it was already busy. With two boys being home from college for an extended period our grocery spending is going to go way up. I really hope the colleges might give us some sort of refund onroom and board. It would sure help out.

  • A world without sports is just shocking to me. I know it's necessary...but wow...just WOW. I know that might not mean much to some people, but it's jarring for me to realize just how much sports fills my day. I basically spend my day reading about sports, Disney World and Credit Cards... Suddenly 2 of those won't exist
I know, my boys are like, "What are we going to watch!?!" I asked my DH what he is going to read, now that there won't be sports. "Now I'll just read what people are saying about no sports to watch!" 🤣 We got our basketball fix last night watching girls state tournament without fans. I'm thinking we will get out some board games we haven't played in a while, puzzles, and get our money's worth out of Disney+ :-)

Looking for some opinions on what to do with my planned April trip to WDW.
I started on this thread 2 years ago to try and save on a trip to WDW. Well that trip is scheduled for April 16-26 (and by the way, is being 100% paid for with points/cash back).
And now there's the Corona Virus...ugh.
The 30-day mark for paying in full is March 17. I know WDW is waiving cancellation and change fees currently.
I think I'd still go if the parks open back up by then.
So, should I go ahead and pay it and assume I'll be able to get a full refund if the parks are closed? Should I just cancel now while I can easily get the full refund? If the parks are open and we decide it's not a good idea to go, can I change to a future date and then cancel without penalty?

Talked with an AAVacations CSR just now. She talked like I could get a future travel credit. Not a refund but I’ll take it! I’m back on hold now while she gets things taken care of for me.

I would pay. The parks should be open and there's no risk because you will get a refund or be able to change.

I think from what I'm reading elsewhere that Uni is working with people to extend the use by dates on purchased tickets...I hope that holds true b/c my entire fam bought tix thru UR for April...if we can't use them then I'm counting on a date extension..... Uni has a cs # posted to call for assistance
Do you think I will have better luck with calling UO or chase? I didn't buy the tickets from UO.

So our trip for next week is definitely cancelled. It was DDs high school softball spring training trip. I knew it was coming but still disappointed. One of the hardest things about the cancellation is that this is a trip that we'll never be able to complete at another time. She's a high school senior and was getting to go to Disney with all her friends- been planning the trip since she was a freshman. Only brightside I see is the AP extension. DH and I wanted to go for an anniversary trip next year. Out anniversary is Jan 7 and our APs expire Jan 6, so this will give us the extra days we need. I'm trying to focus on that instead of losing this trip, because being honest, we are really really bummed.

I survived Costco but it wasn't pretty. Never seen anything like it. Really grateful that so far I've been able to find what we "need."

Also picked up Visa gift cards at OD.
I don't think I'm going to try Costco (although they do have the most reasonably priced box of our favorite Dino Chicken Nuggets (yes... my kids are 13 and 15 and they're our favorite!!!)) but my local grocery store was decent Wednesday morning when I got off work (at 0600) so I may pop in there Monday on my way home again. I'm off until Sunday night but no way am I feeling up to deal with people right now.

Since my kids likely have no school for the next few weeks- looking forward advice from the homeschoolers.

My son is in 2nd grade, rather advanced at math, just took a standardized test and scored in the 98th percentile.

Anyone ever used khan academy classes for math or coding? Any suggestions for other sites- I’m not necessarily looking for free, but that’s a plus.

Reading is fine, he loves that. He’ll build Legos and we’ll make him do some writing. The school plans to do some online stuff, but he generally flies through school work, so we’ll likely need some extra to fill the day. My DH needs to attempt to work from home some.

My other kid is 2, so she just gets to color and play with toys. Lucky her.
