Nope, I thought it was a pretty good deal. I knew when we bought it that we were going to want to go back to Orlando again, so why not🤷‍♀️ I have no problem saying no repeatedly during the presentation.
DH doesn’t want to go to a presentation but I didn’t think it was bad. We weren’t planning on WDW in 2020 but I always want to squeeze in another trip. We have until February 2021.

A bit off topic...

I was just told by a payment processor that "the banks route the transactions through terminals, each bank chooses It's terminal routing for each amount that is send through them or from them or to them. " Basically, my client was charged FTF when both of us and my processor are US based (they are also in Hong Kong and Ireland). The way I understand him he's saying Visa can randomly choose any charge to route through HK. I told him that didn't sound right because what's to stop them from routing every charge through there and incurring more fees for themselves. I think they've changed something on their end that now includes HK and my clients are going to incur fees if they don't have a card with no FTF. I know it has to do with merchant coding and I believe Visa (card in this case) assigns that based on info from the merchant. Right?

So, now I'm on the hunt for a new payment processor, I hate their reports feature anyway. This was just one more thing to push me to move.

Happy New Year everyone. Just spent a few hours catching up as I haven't been on for 10 days or so (actually skipped the last few pages of the old thread so hopefully nothing major happened).

To kick off 2020 - DW has just got instantly approved for Amex Delta Gold Biz. I am resigned to increasing my efforts to deal with SkyPesos as Delta are increasing their presence out of BOS, and I have actually gotten some decent redemptions to the UK recently.

Next up will hopefully be some thirst quenching URs - unfortunately I have a lot of organic spend coming up and not enough MSR's - seriously considering abandoning Chase and 5/24 in the quest for more SUBs to go after. Will have to assess over the next couple weeks.

Lol she must’ve been a horrible queen. If he was in her spot I would’ve liked him. He is oddly cute. I always liked the lollipop girl
HAHAHA fair points!

Princess Lolly, right? I wonder If Princess Frostine replaced her?!

We got 2 of the 10% off $100 Lowes offers, both on our Marriott Biz cards. Likely we'll have something to buy there before they expire anyway BUT, can you just buy $100 Lowes gift cards and call it a day? Just curious....
Yes! I buy Lowes GCs at 10% off, then when we use them DH uses his veteran discount so another 10% off and pay with the discounted GC. No veteran discount on GCs. I try to keep a small stash of Lowes GCs because we are in the midst of renovations and in there almost weekly it seems. I do also pay directly with credit card and veteran discount, but by buying GCs I can make the discount last beyond expiration.

2019 TAX PLANNING AND SUPPORT LINKS
Oh boy - it's now January 2020 which means those 2019 tax returns can't be far behind!

As a reminder, last year Chase and American Express issued 1099s for support clicks! Here are some random thoughts on this:
  • Chase issued one 1099 per person for all cards. It showed the card # on the 1099 so you could easily match up and check for accuracy.
  • American Express issued one 1099 per card! So some people received numerous 1099s if they had clicks on multiple cards. The 1099 showed the account number also so you could match up and check for accuracy.
  • People did identify ERRORS on their 1099s. The only way to check this is to comb through your records for all the clicks your received.
  • We never reached a consensus on what sparked you to receive a 1099. There were lots of theories of a thresh-hold of $500 or $600 but never reached a clear answer there. And there were some people who inexplicably received 1099s at lower amounts if I recall correctly.
  • If you had any support clicks last year, it would be best to wait and be SURE that no 1099s are coming your way no matter how simple your taxes may seem.
  • I don't recall ANY of these 1099s being available online
Here are the way points were valued last year:
  • ALL American Express related cards/points (MRs, Marriott, Delta) = 1 cpp (with exception of Hilton)
  • Hilton = 0.67 cpp
  • ALL Chase related cards/points (URs, Southwest, Hyatt, Marriott, United) = 1cpp
  • Please let me know if anything is wrong here and I can update this.
Some people - namely @Andysol - did make an effort to dispute some valuations last year and/or attribute expenses/annual fees against them. Unless you are a major heavy hitter in the support link realm, this is likely NOT worth your time since you're probably saving an inconsequential amount on your taxes and possibly putting yourself at a risk of larger scrutiny by the IRS (this is probably just paranoia on my part though). If you can identify a clear mistake however, (i.e. that your amount is higher than the actual points received based on the calculations above) then you may want to follow up with the bank to attempt to clarify that.

Please share here on the thread if you receive a 1099 for support links so that people can be on the lookout for them. These likely won't go out until very late in the month based on how it worked last year.
Chase also included cash incentives including paperless statement credits and cash retention offers. While I can't imagine Chase issuing a $35 1099, let alone a $5 one, if you had other incentives that put you at or near the $600 required reporting threshold these incentives will also be added in and could push you over.

Or if they screw up again and mistake 500 UR points for $500, the horse is out of the barn and you could get one for less than the minimum requirement.

As long as we are still chatting about games, the most surprising one I saw at the toy store was a Golden Girls version of Clue. Seriously, who is the target audience for that one? :rotfl:

DD's Life wasn't as good as mine. We finally found that one and only play the original version.

My mom wanted to buy my nephews candyland but she said the new characters are too creepy lol

I still have my game of Candyland which is... kinda old. DD played with it alot when she was little and her friends all liked this one better than the newer version. I can't even imagine what they have done to it now.

Ha! He makes a beautiful garden every year, but lord can he burn up a credit card at Lowe’s. Every year he’s like “I’m done, I got all the plants I wanted” and then next spring he’s like “we should landscape around those trees.”
You own a house, it'll never be done. Once you fix up one spot it shows just how shabby another one is, and on and on in a vicious cycle until you're back around updating the first spot that's now overgrown/dying/the wrong color...

Can you tell I'm getting close to hubby's solution? - a flamethrower and then concrete...

Who here has a spreadsheet where they track offers? Can you share the heading? I remember thinking that was a great idea now I can't find the info.

Is this what you're looking for? Looks like I'm updating this week lol

Then, as offers post I move them to a second sheet where I track my card year totals

I like this group, so I'm gonna ask this off topic question here.

If you are job hunting, do you have a system for tracking ones you've applied for? What kind of info would you mark down?

Our box is falling apart and it’s being held together with scotch tape. A few years ago we went to an antique mall and I found monopoly jr which I couldn’t find anywhere. I love it because it doesn’t take nearly as long as monopoly but it’s also super cute.

I 100% agree with her. WHERE is Plumpy? He was my favorite. I would hoard the card even though it meant I was going to lose. I recently discovered he was only in the 80s, 90s, and 50th anniversary edition. Give me my retro game!!!

LOL that's not retro. My game is from the 70s and there is no Plumpy. You're somewhere in the middle I guess. :rotfl:

I was poking around Delta yesterday to get an idea about prices for flights to MCO from BOS. I picked a random Tuesday in February and the fare was $58/4500miles for a nonstop one-way! I was shocked (in a good way).

Finished up my spend on SW Performance Biz on 12/30. 80,00- Points show pending today. Just applied for the SW Premier Biz and was auto approved.

Put remaining tuition on DH CIP - should only have a few hundred $ left on that to meet MSR. Which is good - as I used point for Vegas Hotels and Airfare and DL Hotel through my CSR and now I only have like 230,000 points. So, this will put me over 300,000 again but like it to be more in the 400,000-500,000 range. Will have to work on that. But also need to pace Chase applications also.

Also DH and I are both 3/24 now. Leave for Aruba on Saturday on AA Rewards Flight. So far so good. Don't seem to be locked and have a very slim chance of being shut down. Still - I will feel much better once on the plane.
