I love credit cards so much! v3.0 (see first page for add'l details)

Warning for Verizon customers attempting to use the new Amex wireless credits. We already know that paying part of your monthly bill with a credit card will void the credits you receive for enrolling in autopay. You can potentially get around this by using your American Express card to purchase Verizon gift cards, then apply the gift cards to your bill.

I just used 2 AmEx Biz Plat cards to purchase 2 $25 Verizon gift cards - they are sent by mail, there is no digital redemption option. Unfortunately, when I try to use gift cards, or check their balance, they are reported to be invalid. I tried phone, text chat, and twitter, and Verizon reps are unable to resolve this issue. I was told to go to a Verizon store to have it addressed. However, a google search of, "Verizon gift card invalid," pulls up multiple reports of this same problem, and that the problem could not be resolved in physical stores. Many of these reports were for much higher dollar amounts, and it took months of escalating phone calls to get the issue resolved.

I think I'm just going to dispute the charges with AmEx. It is unfortunate to lose out on these wireless credits.

Oh gosh, I guess I should count myself lucky with the phone rep I got. When I had the same issue, the rep opened a "payment investigation" ticket. Said I'd hear back in 7 business days. I got an e-mail with the ticket number, never heard back, but at 7 days I checked the gift card and it was fixed.

Good luck if you decide to HUCA!

I'm perturbed our new cards aren't physically here yet. I realize we were just approved on Monday, but the hubs is out doing his first trip to BJ's and Home Depot in 2 months and I really was hoping to knock out a bunch of our MSR with his purchases. Stupid waiting for the mail... I told him to hold off on anything he doesn't NEEEEEED today so we can put it on the new cards when they show up likely next week. I got a big eye roll from that, but he'll play along.

Patience is a virtue... that I haven't quite mastered yet...
what bank issued the cards? Did you know that if you get a chase personal card you can add it to apple pay before you get the card?

May 9th and its snowing in MA  :confused3 Fortunately its not going to stick, but this is first time I have seen it snow in May in the 12 years I have lived here.

We didn't get snow but might have set a record low in SE Pa. I haven't turned my heat off yet. o_O This is unprecedented, normally we're setting up the air conditioners at this point. Even if we haven't turned them on, I've never had the heat still running in May. The tech is coming for annual maintenance in the "off season" on Tuesday... who knew May wouldn't be the off-season??

...
I have a couple of questions:

After meeting the requirement how long does it take for the CP to show up in your account? If we need it by late July last cycle would close 7/5.

...

Here are our possible uses for the CP if the world starts spinning again:
Hawaii August 2020 DS
October -swtich it to DD's friend and take her to WDW
Puerto Rico December 2020 DS
Hawaii- March 2021 -possibly use for DD's friend (if we choose to fly SW)
June 2021-somewhere for DS
July 2021-December 2021-????
A day or two usually for the CP to come through. There's sometimes a delay if it's earned at the beginning of the year, but most people see it a couple days after the points post.

And I'm sure you know but you can change your companion 3 times per calendar year. It counts changes not companions, so even changing back to a previous companion uses up a change. Your current plans seem within the policy but something to keep in mind as you think out 2021.

Do we have to keep at least $5,000 on a CIP credit line? I'm trying to figure out how to get more space on my SW Biz Performance card so I can pay $12k in federal taxes between now and 7/15 without credit cycling (sorry if my terms are wrong here). I currently have a $5,000 limit on the SW card but have been using it for everything else so I can hit $25k of spending in six months.

No, I took some from the CIP and SW Biz to float more on the 0% CIU. I have one at 2k and the other at 3k now I think. Others have dropped the CIP to 1k or maybe less.

I must be the only person around who is not baking and has not bought flour since Christmas cookies!

Me neither  Except I did buy some AP the other week when I found it at Target because we were running out of the leftover from Christmas baking. We use little here and there for cooking so I hate being completely out. But I haven't thought about baking at all really.

My in-laws had a cottage in Sturgeon Bay we used to visit every summer with the kids. Sister-in-law recently rebuilt it (was quite rustic) and we were supposed to have a large family reunion/memorial service for MIL who passed away this year. Not sure that's happening but DH and I can drive, we have a 10 day VRBO nearby the old place, but our kids will have to fly in. That is still my 27 yo DS's favorite place to vacation, he loves to fish and paddle around in the water.
I grew up camping in Door County every year. Best recent non points vaca was in Sturgeon Bay. Spent a week in a little cottage fishing and hiking around.
Just found KA bread flour at Publix. Sometimes it's the little things in life:)
Cannot find bread flour anywhere. Also couldn't find baking powder and ended up finding it on KA website a few weeks ago, hasn't arrived yet. In the meantime I found baking powder, plus KA whole wheat and AP flours at Target last week. It was like winning the lottery.
I posted my own which I've come up with after years of tinkering. It's easy:
1.25 c. warm water, 2 t. yeast, 1 T. honey (I used to use malt syrup but it's expensive and hard to find)

Once that bubbles, I mix it with 2 c. bread flour and 2 t. salt (I've already combined those) to form the bath.

Then I add 1.5 c. whole wheat flour (to make it a little healthier but could be bread flour).

Mix it with the bread dough hook in my KA on speed 2 until it is the right consistency. It can't be too dry but it definitely can't be too wet. I generally have to add some warm water until it all comes together, but once it seems almost right I add some bread flour to make sure it isn't too wet/sticky.

I make my dough at night, stick a plate over the bowl, and let it proof overnight.

In the morning I pound the dough down and cut it into 8 sections (about 3.5-4 oz). I make those into balls and cover them with a wet paper towel and let them rise for another 1.5 hours or so. Then I stick my finger through the middle and form them into bagels (you're supposed to make them into snakes and connect them but that's for the birds).

Then I boil them (about 1 minute per side) and bake at 400 for about 15 minutes.

Leftovers get sliced and frozen.
We really enjoyed these. I found everything bagel topping at Aldi and used that on one batch. I will admit I converted the recipe to use instant yeast as that is all I buy. And your method for forming the bagels seems fine, I watched a video of a professional baker and he did it that way.

Not a baker here either. I just don’t have enough self control and it is easier if the baked goods are not around. I do find myself cooking more, today I made a big pot of beef stew to feed the planting crew. I cheated and did frozen bread dough to go along with it.
Some of my baking these days is necessity. Can't find some bread products like bagels and hamburger buns, so I bake them. I have an old bread machine that I use to make whole wheat bread although the last couple times the bread has not come out properly. Meant to bake the bagels today but got lazy so no bagels for breakfast this week.

Another store, though it's just a reorg for now. May still see how their sales are this weekend and use up the last of my giftccard for some of the staples I buy there. JC Penney to file for bankruptcy, close about 200 stores: report
Ugh, this is so sad. My mom worked at their corporate HQ's in TX for 15 years and then for them in CO when she lived here. She has a lifetime employee discount and always gets great deals on clothes for my kids and housewares stuff there. JCP is like part of my childhood.

I also saw Sweet Tomatoes won't be opening back up. My dd's and I were just discussing yesterday about how we hadn't been there in awhile and we excited to go once this was all over. Then read that news this morning :( :(

I found mine. It's called "Easy Bagel Recipe" from Skinnytaste. I want to try that one since I don't need yeast to make them.
is that the one c flour, one c greek yogurt,2 tbsp baking powder recipe? I like that one, I use it frequently but instead of bagels I make a pizza crust with it.... I like it bc I can use gf or regular flour to make stuff with this one.

I saw that recipe too. I was thinking of trying it. I have never made bagels before and now in the past month I have made 3 different recipes!

HAPPY MOTHER’s DAY, HALEY!:flower3:
Thank you! Dh and Elliott made me a card with his little footprints so of course I cried lol. Dh isn’t a super emotional person so I was surprised. He also made me origami flowers since he couldn’t go out and buy any.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers on here!

I know this crew gets it.... I'm a little down today as we are supposed to be on a flight to FLL today to board a cruise. I know there will be other vacations but I really need one now. I know I am blessed that I am able to work from home but my company just extended WFH to September 1-- ugh. The governor speaks Monday and hopefully we will be able to move into phase 1 of re- open soon. Trying to see when would be safe to book a short beach trip on the Gulf Coast and really need a hair color.

Happy Mothers day all. Very happy to have my 21 year old at home. Looking forward to. peaceful, beautiful day.

Totally get it as our cruise was canceled 2 days before we set to leave. Did you take the voucher or reimbursement? So far we have taken the voucher but we have until the end of the year to decide.

I believe the Gulf in FL (Sandestin, Panama City Beach, Pensacola) are slowly reopening. We were supposed to be in early June but SW canceled our direct flights and wanted us to explore the country to get there.

Enjoy your Mother’s Day!
