Happy Mother's Day to all!

DH and I went out for breakfast and sitting inside a restaurant and being served without the dogs begging for food was so nice! I had a bite of his s'mores French toast and it was really good😋. I hope in the distant future when this is just a memory of an unpleasant time I'll continue to be grateful for things like eating out, flying on a plane, and getting excited making travel plans.

I believe the Gulf in FL (Sandestin, Panama City Beach, Pensacola) are slowly reopening

We are-DH drives along Hwy 98 Fridays and Mondays and says the area is definitely perking up. Destin is starting to get busy and I know our beaches are open (and gorgeous as always). Our restaurants are open for limited seating in and outdoors and the beach shops are open too. :-)💙⛱

I know this crew gets it.... I'm a little down today as we are supposed to be on a flight to FLL today to board a cruise. I know there will be other vacations but I really need one now. I know I am blessed that I am able to work from home but my company just extended WFH to September 1-- ugh. The governor speaks Monday and hopefully we will be able to move into phase 1 of re- open soon. Trying to see when would be safe to book a short beach trip on the Gulf Coast and really need a hair color.

Happy Mothers day all. Very happy to have my 21 year old at home. Looking forward to. peaceful, beautiful day.
I totally get it. Exactly two weeks after my meltdown because Delta totally screwed up our Hawaii flights that I worked so hard to plan, I woke up to an email today saying they cancelled our July 1st flight to Disney. The flight they put us on, will not work, we cannot take that flight. Only option now would be to fly out the 2nd and lose an entire day of our already short vacation. I can see in their schedule that they are going to cancel our return flight as well, and the only flight options left will take away the last day of our vacation too. Of course who knows if Disney will even be open then, I would feel much better at this point, if I knew they were going to be closed :-(.
With DVC points, an early September trip still up in the air, and an AP with an unknown expiration date, trying to reschedule is almost impossible. Wow, sorry to be Debbie Downer today. Mothers day is not a great day for me, mommy issues LOL, and I am working right now, ick.
It is my sons 27th birthday, so mothers day here is cancelled till next year :-)

So nice! I am ready to eat out again! I should have ordered steamed crabs earlier in the week and now our favorite place’s line has been busy for an hour. I guess I will be getting them next week instead.

Wow, we can't do any of that yet. My dh is going to lose it if he can't get a haircut soon LOL
She has to have her temperature taken and wait in the car. No cut or blowdry. Dad is going to the barber tomorrow. It's a two person shop (husband and wife) so not as many rules.

I read that hairstylists who are on their own (think the sola salons model) are much better setup for this since their "salon" only ever has one client at a time. I'm trying a new stylist on the 23rd and she's on her own.

DS is being super sweet and hanging with me. We're watching House Hunters. But I sort of want him to go play his xbox so I can read my book and take a nap. I do want to be able to stay up to watch the Last Dance with him and the dog and I were up at 5:30.

ETA: and there is some accessibility narrator stuck on this episode and the narrator keeps says stuff like, "he seems tense" or "he exhales sharply" about the buyer. It's sort of comical.

Took about 45 min to get my grocery pick up order today. They had already taken 20 off the order for it and that was prob done for at least 7 other cars. Also hadn't gotten notification anything was out of stock so I had to stop and buy lettuce on the way home for my lunches this week. I'm glad it's nor normally this way or I'd never do it. I think they added more spots rather than people using it less because spots have been much easier to get and I've never seen more than 2 cars when I've picked up same day/time but all 8 spots were full today. So crazy.

I just redid our Hawaii flights for September. I am not feeling very optimistic at all for actually taking them, but I feel better after redoing them. Originally I had $784 in flights and now I have them down to $381 total, so less than $200/person with companion pass. If I was thinking properly I would have done some multi-city and saved some $5.60s, but that is OK. That is for
PIT-SFO
OAK-HNL
HNL-LIH
LIH-SJC
SJC-PIT

I did a backup SFO-PIT in case maybe we could do a long weekend in SFO instead if Hawaii can't happen. I have zero hotels booked. For some reason cancelling just flights is not as sad as cancelling hotels too. But I guess I should have some booked. I planned Grand Hyatt Kauai, but have not looked into Honolulu area (i guess anywhere on the island) hotels if anyone has suggestions.

Congrats! So excited for you! We are supposed to be heading there at Christmas. Darn, SW delaying their next schedule release.

We can't either. Chicago is looking at at least mid to end of June for restaurants. I'm not ready and wouldn't be going in anywhere anyway.

I work for a large hospital corporation but locally, it's a 3 hospital group. One large teaching hospital and 2 community hospitals. The large hospital was taking our overflow and opened another icu for our transfers. We don't have enough beds or nursing staff to cover. Well, as of end of the week, we had the highest numbers of inpatient COVID positives we have ever had. The large hospital has reached capacity of their ICU beds and can no longer take transfers. It's getting worse, not better. We have 7 inpatient units plus ICU, 4 units are now COVID only plus icu has COVID patients.

My PIF date for my Alaska cruise is Tuesday and Costco keeps calling and emailing me. Was hoping DCL would have cancelled. I think I need to PIF and wait for DCL to cancel so I can get the cruise credit and have my onboard booking discount extended. Really want to rebook for next summer (Mediterranean).

Sounds nice. Which Med cruise are you looking at?

The 7/23 one that starts in Spain and ends in Dover. I'd tack on two to three nights in London. DD loves theater. Of course this assumes life is a little more normal next year.

I really wanted the 11 night Norwegian Fjords cruise on 7/30 but DD wanted the Mediterranean and it's her graduation trip.

I would love to do the Fjords. That would have been my choice as well. Those prices though!!

Hello all and Happy Mothers Day.

I have a few credit cards that I might need to close and not really looking to open any new credit cards right now unless the monthly spend works for us. We don't have any trips coming up or big purchases where we would easily meet a spend requirement. Can put about $1k a month on credit card to meet spend.

Both annual fee for the CIPs are coming up. I think from what I have read most call and downgrade it, but since I have the CSP is there any benefit to keeping the card or downgrading to a different card?

Same for the Hilton Surpass, I will keep it for now but will not pay another fee for player two. What are the best options there? Downgrade or close? Anyway to downgrade some how and get points?

My cards
08/19- CIP
09/19-Hilton Surpass
01/20-CSP

Player 2
07/19-CIP
09/19- CSP
11/19-Hilton Surpass
  • All credit cards are always paid in full. Zero credit card debt.
  • Have only about 300k + chase rewards and about 100k HH so would like to continue accumulating there, but willing to look at other options.
