Dh is headed to the grocery store after work today to hopefully get us stocked up for the next 2 weeks in the event that we have a state or national one week quarantine. I’ve messaged my niece and my SIL letting them know I have extra cloth diapers if there ends up being some kind of shortage.

our mini spring break trip to Wisconsin dells is officially cancelled as the resort is closed from the 18th-1st. This saves us the $30 cancellation fee, but this trip was also going to be a decent chunk of our MSR for our cip.

we had booked a hotel stay on the way there through hotels.com/Expedia at a non-refundable rate. Anyone have any experience getting a refund on those, or will it come down to the hotel itself being closed for that to happen?

I read a few days ago that China had decided that none of the dogs they had quarantined when their owners tested positive had contracted the virus but I couldn't tell whether the source was reliable. If we have to worry about the cats, I think I really might have to go sit in a dark room and cry for a bit.

How many people really think the kids will be going back to school? I am 90% sure DS will be completing 8th grade virtually. His last day is 6/3. Luckily, he has that option at his private school. Our county students don’t since there is barely enough laptops for a grade and certainly not enough for everyone plus the lack of internet service that some students may have.

We were just extended through the middle of April but I don't see them going back. School ends mid-May here.

The 8 week recommendation by cdc for gatherings puts us at the end of our school year. I guess they'd extend the year? No clue. I will just pull DS12 and homeschool him if that were announced. I already homeschool DS10 anyways.

DS would have about 3 1/2 weeks left but their lockers are already cleared out. Maybe they would have their 8th grade graduation in early June as planned?

My dh's work (a college) just announced they are closing the doors for 8 weeks. Students already went virtual this week but now staff is done too. I'm doubting if any of our schools go back this year.

Is there really a chance that places will suddenly stop accepting credit cards? Is that even reasonable?

We have places that are stopping taking cash cause of spread fears.

Well, like @wendow's DD, mine is heading home too. She is doing some laundry and then going to drive home. A friend will join her for the ride and fly to NJ from here.

I told them to get out of FL asap, because as more is announced, traffic coming home will get bad.

She actually moved there in Jan and has a year long lease, so this is just a speed bump. Hoping disney will call her back up soon after they open. We just have to have a little faith, trust, and pixie dust right now.

DS doesn't like his English teacher but she's a great communicator. She's got a virtual learning folder on schoology and already has a list of assignments for the week.

I was supposed to be arriving at WDW right about now.

The room we were assigned is four doors down from the one I requested, which is the closest pirate room to the Skyliner station. It would’ve been awesome.

I am not quarantining myself from my cat! Nope!

When I had the flu in January I did try to limit the cats' risk (even though it was very small) by not letting them too near my face and also running the bedding through the dryer on high heat (the cats like to sleep on my bed during the day). But I did still pet them.

Does anyone know if we can cancel a dvc reservation ONLINE that is within 30 days and not have the points go into holding or do I have to call MS for this? The email from them says they are waiving that restriction but I'm getting the notice online that the points will be placed in holding.

San Francisco is ordering shelter in place effective midnight tonight until at least 4/7/20. No leaving our homes except for medical reasons, to get food, or work. Several Bay Area counties expected to follow.

My understanding of the email was that the points would not go into holding - I feel confident that even if they did you would get them taken back out. You could try calling by who knows if you can get through or how long you would be on hold.

Over on the DVC board the discussion indicates even though it says they will go on holding they have not been placed in holding.

The CC system and internet banking didn’t go down at 9/11 or in the financial crisis. Might you need cash because someone’s cc processing system chocked for a day or a local restaurant can’t process cc on delivery orders? Sure. But a mass no internet financial transactions end of times situation? No. Come away from that ledge lol. If you see DH staring at that ledge and some cash on hand makes him feel like he has some control over an uncontrollable situation maybe let him get some cash just to feel better. Some people took all their cash and put it into toilet paper over the last couple weeks in order to feel better so at least you aren’t looking at a room stuffed with toilet paper

This is why I always take cash on vacation with me. I normally come back with all of it. But we have had a time or two where the computer systems were down and no CC could be taken at restaurants. Also if I am buying my $4 magnet at the NPs I usually just pay cash (especially since they had a sign saying needed to be $5 or more to use CC).

We're already fighting!

I'm so confused on what this looks like if they don't do virtual and don't go back. In VA, we still have a third of the year to go. That's a fair amount of material they haven't learned.

News from the beach. Today is our coolest day, temperature wise, but we've spent it enjoying the resort. Lunch at Tide Me over, playground time, corn hole playing.
