I love credit cards so much! v3.0 (see first page for add'l details)

I might. I was denied in early May for a CFU. Denial said too many credit inquires. I didn’t call recon. I‘ve had a good relationship with Chase for more than 20 years. My score is just as high as DH’s. Do you think 60 days is good enough to try again? Or wait?

What's your 5/24, I'd guess that may play into it. Or how many inquiries have you had?

I’m at 2/24 with 6 inquiries in the past 20 months.

When in the last 20 months where the 6 though. That's where the answer is because they do seem to have gotten stricter on stuff. And why is there 6 but only 2 cards, are there biz cards that don't count to 5/24 but are still there?

Yep. Last pull was 5/2/20. Biz cards plus two other denials. One was when I forgot to lift my credit freeze. 🤦🏼‍♀️ And the other when I applied for a CSP but totally didn’t realize my ancient Sapphire counted as having a previous Sapphire. At least I don’t make these dumb mistakes when I have DH apply.

There's way more going on here then. What biz cards do you have and when did you get them?

What cards were you denied for, including the one that was due to your credit being frozen. Though in the future you can recon that if you unfreeze it.

And what were the other dates of the hard pulls, not just the last one. You say they are all within the last 20 months but if one was 20 months ago and the rest where within the last 7 that's way different.

Honestly, even without knowing all of this, I would say don't apply, they'll probably still deny you for the same reason, especially since it was for a freedom which they'll be more apt to give right now than CSR. But they are all tightening and we can't say how long that will continue but we can help figure out how long you can wait.

Some banks, and chase may be getting to it, are very sensitive to the previous 6 months.

Another outlier - no to coffee. Have never liked the taste. Now teas, that is my weakness. Current favorite hot is Tazo Breakfast tea. Luzianne iced tea is what I drink all day long. No fancy machines, just an electric kettle to heat the water.
I don’t like coffee or tea. I mainly drink water, milk, and Gatorade

My DM was interested in Keurig or Nespresso, not sure which one, so DH did a "deep dive" doing research, etc. We have friends who love their Keurigs. We loved the Nespresso from all the hotels we stayed at. His research for her led us to getting a Nespresso for ourselves (oops) and we love it. It steams my almond milk perfectly, there are lots of pods to choose from, and unlike the larger ones with the beans, it's not a pain that I want decaf and DH wants regular all the time. Recycling the pods is very easy (and that was important to me when we were choosing - there is already far too much plastic out there). About a year ago, DH's work added a Keurig and all the special coffees and he can't stand it, so I guess we made the right choice for us. :rotfl: He thought it was so bad that he walked up and down 3-4 flights of stairs to a brew machine whenever he wanted coffee.

Also, our Starbucks habit was getting expensive, and we felt that the service and the coffee itself had been going downhill for a while, so it made sense to just get our own machine. We have the original because we want espressos/lattes and not cups of coffee. What we make at home is far, far better than Starbucks, and about as good as the lattes that our favorite, fancy, expensive and not so convenient bakery offers. So it was a win-win for us. Now that DH is WFH for 2020 he's really glad we have one here.

Sorry if that was too much information.

That was great info! Thank you! I'm on my second Keurig - again, my mom just bought me a new one so I have to stick with it for a bit - but I don't love the coffee that comes from it and I'm totally drooling at what all y'all can make from the Nespresso. My fav coffee drinks are Americanos. I always get a pump of white mocha and I found some on amazon so my dh got me some for Mother's Day. I've been enjoying that in my daily coffee but I'd love to be able to make Americanos!

I do love coffee and can hardly start my day until I've had my coffee but I *usually* only drink one cup a day (unless I have friends over or we meet for coffee) and then I move to hot tea for the afternoon. I love Twinnings and Tazo - green tea is my fav but I also like chai.

Made a spur of the moment decision today to refi LOL, it's too easy to do when you do it for a living. Now to see what our real credit scores are and how many new cards we have to explain :-)
We are still trying to close ours. They keep pushing out the closing and extending our rate lock. I guess it's fine since they're paying but I want this wrapped up before we leave for WDW!!

I like to drink tea also, not every day but maybe once or twice a week I will have a cup.
The one I prefer right now is Twinings Ceylon Orange Pekoe.

We are on the same page! And, tracking says my machine is arriving today!

Editing to add: I had an option to pay $32 for 2 day shipping which I ignored. And here comes my machine in 2 days anyway. This almost always happens with Amazon.

Question: DH applied for a CSP in early May. We just hit the MSR a couple of weeks ago. At the time of the app, I didn’t think the CSR was right for us because of limited travel. Now they’ve unveiled the pay yourself back at the 1.5 has me wondering...

Would it be a smart move to PC the CSP to a CSR? Is the $300 travel credit still also able to be used for groceries or another category? Can you even PC something so soon after opening the original card?
due to the card act you can’t PC a card to a higher fee card until it’s open a year.
does he or you have a personal chase card with a CL of at least $10k that can be PCd to a CSR ?

adding after reading your posts about the Chase denial...
what other cards do you have with them and credit limits on all Chase cards vs household income ?
..this could be a factor in the denial as well

We haven’t finished ours yet either. We were supposed to sign tomorrow but I haven’t heard from Dh about it in awhile. I need to ask him what’s going on. We’ve been waiting for new cards and not paying bills because of that. We can’t wait much longer because we have tons of hospital and doctor bills

Well now I don't know what to do. 2020 WDW ticket sales are now open. With the virus surging in Florida I am not keen to go to WDW at the end of September... but my trip is still over two months away, so things might be better there. I am worried about quarantine rules too.

I hate the idea of having a thousand bucks locked up in WDW tickets that we might not use. On the other hand, I don't want to end up going and then not have access to any parks. Ugh. :scared:

It's certainly a difficult decision. I just looked and did a little comparison to our area (which is obviously not scientific) but what stands out to me is that their case numbers are high, while their mortality rates are very low compared to what we've seen in my area. But - we spiked in late April and early May, while they are spiking now, so the next month is going to give us a better idea of where this is going in Florida. Since this is a subject that is frowned on, I can't speculate any further on this thread.

In early June, I felt as if I would be able to take my November trip - actually October 30 to Nov 12, not all at Disney. Now, I'm not so sure.

I have my annual pass, and it expires Nov 6. I let them know I wanted a refund instead of an extension. Now, I'm wondering if the extension would be a better idea and move my trip to late February into early March. It's only a studio and I just have about 100ish points involved so not a tremendous issue. Plus I've already booked some nights in January and February so have the ability to build on those or move some points along depending on availability.

I am usually desperate to go south once it starts getting cool here. November can go either way, but by January, I want Florida and it doesn't have to be Disney.

I received an offer for the Hilton Surpass for 175k for $4k spend. From DOC, it seems that this is the best SUB on this card so I'm really tempted to go for it. I am 1/24 (Amex Plat on 4/19) and we have no hotel cards. Since we are 6, I like Embassy Suites and the suites options for our family although we've moved away from hotels to Airbnb for the most part. The house remodeling should make it easy to spend the $4k and while we have no real travel planned, I still hope to do a road trip from Chicago to New Orleans which was the trip that we were most likely to do this summer. I think I'm talking myself into it. Oh, this is considered a...credit or charge card? This difference from Amex always trips me up and I know there are limits on the number of them you can hold.

Other card plans I've tossed around:
Blue Cash Preferred
Amex Gold
Churn the CSR at the end of this year/early 2021 (my preferred currency as we travel coach and we can usually get good rates available through the portal)

I know the Aspire is one I should eventually add as our kids age out of traveling with the family and I can plan (slightly) higher end vacations to use the FNC.

Just curious where you say the 175/4k for Surpass. Was it targeted?

Disney tickets are nonrefundable but they can be changed to a future date (unused, paying difference) correct?

I’m trying to figure this out right now. The only thing I could find was something that said if you purchased tickets by June 6, 2020, the unused tickets would be automatically extended to September 26, 2021 and that if you couldn’t travel by then, you could apply the value of the ticket to a future ticket purchase.

I posted on the News/Rumors thread and the moderator confirmed that he didn’t believe anything had changed with the policy (meaning, yes, we should be able to apply the value of the ticket towards future travel if we have to cancel the trip).
