Wow, I was not aware of the "25% rebate on airfare paid for with points (on your selected airline, or First or Biz on any airline)"! Also, I have seen it mentioned many times but what is the Platicorn? I have not pushed my DH into churning at all. I mentioned a couple of months ago that if he got the SW card he could get some free flights out of it for the kids and he didn't completely shut it down. I might think about referring him and then just make the spend so he doesn't lose his mind over it and then just sock draw them. I probably need to look into what points can or can't be transferred to my FF accounts though right?

I don't think that feature of the Biz Gold gets discussed much. If you can use the $200 Dell credit ($100 semi-annually) and $200 airline incidental credit available on the Biz Plat then its $595 annual fee might make more sense compared to the Biz Gold's $295, especially if you can make use of the 35% rebate (on airfare paid with points) on the Biz Plat. It's harder to use the airline incidental credit these days though since gift cards no longer trigger it.

The Platicorn is a highly targeted offer for 100K MR on $5K spend. Some lucky folks get a mailer. Some people try going through Cardmatch to see if they get it...if you get it this way, there's no guarantee that you'll ever see it again so be prepared to apply then and there. The standard public offer is 60K MR for $5K. But some support links will pull up an increased offer of 75K in incognito mode, which is what I did for my DH's Plat app.

You definitely want to look at what FF programs MRs transfer to.

I'd like to hear more about the tax credit.

Right now there is a federal tax credit of $4543 on a 2019 Kia Niro PHEV The amount of the tax credit depends on the size of the electric battery which is smaller in the plug in version compared to the full EV version (which would receive a $7500 tax credit). The first 200,000 new model cars sold by that manufacturer qualify for the credit before it starts to phase out. Because there are so few of mine driving around, I suspect that credit will be available for some time to come.

Then, each state determines what it will offer as a state tax credit. In CO, I'll get $5000 back. The CO state credit drops to $4000 in 2020, and then to $2500 in 2021. So you need to do some digging to find out what it is for your state.

Also, if you figure out the remote start, will you clue me in? There are 3 to 4 inches thick of manuals for all this and they reference going to app videos etc for info. I need a quick lesson, lol, and I've got to get my phone synced today.
The salesman was trying to help me with the phone but got himself too involved in trying to figure out the contact/wifi charge or whatever it is. So many features they just don't know everything. Yesterday I used the charging spot to hold my phone, and voila - it started charging! My guess is the car hadn't moved very much in 19 days and the charge had gone down, but after I drove so much yesterday it's now good to go. I use a charging pad at home also.

Looks like it's on the app (although I just tried, and it didn't work for me):

You might like lurking on Kia Niro Forums for lots of general and specific info.

The Qi charging in the car is what finally pushed me to buy an iPhone8 lol.

Which card would you be sock drawering? Amex cards if you don't put continuing spend on them, you might get the dreaded pop-up when you apply for another card saying you're ineligible for the sign-up bonus.

So I generally buy Kona Grill GCs for my ex and his wife for Christmas, because they enjoy it and then I get a little bonus GC that I use later.

Does anyone know if Amex would freak out about this since I am buying at/from Kona Grill directly? I really don't have an Amex MSR right now but I might, soon.

Plus, if it coded as restaurant, that would be nice!

If you’re buying GCs in a restaurant, it’ll code as a restaurant. Amex will think you just had a very expensive meal.

AND...In related news, Chase announced today that Freedom categories will remain a closely guarded classified government document until we are no greater than 16 days away from the start of the next quarter. Any attempts to gather rumors ahead of time are futile and will be met with swift justice!
