MSR Sunday is really good for me since I really need to evaluate what I'm working on after being gone for 8 days haha.

CIP- $325 left to go... Will be complete once some Costco charges and Disney charges hit from yesterday.
Citi AA Biz- $1240 left to go. Have until December to finish this.
Capital One Venture- $2200 left. Will probably alternate using this and CIC at OD/Staples this week.
Hilton Surpass- MSR is done but try to get to 15k for another FN cert. $10k to go.
SPG Biz- Took the 10k points/1k spend retention offer. $920 left.

I have $1250 in repairs for my heat pump I will need to pay this week. I'll probably put it on Capital One Venture even though it would finish my Citi AA Biz. I want to get those Venture points so I can book our Jetblue flight to Orlando for February and also buy our Universal tix. I kind of like that card, even though I haven't actually used the points for anything yet. I might pick up one for DH.

I'm feeling the itch to apply for another card, but honestly I have enough to keep me busy probably until November. I'll probably pick up something for Christmas shopping, but I don't know what yet. I'll be interested to see if the 1k I put on SPG Biz will get me out of Amex pop up hell.

ETA: LOL ok, so apparently our censors are so high on here now that we can't even have the letters A, S, and S in a row even when they're in a totally innocuous word?!

Well, I still kinda new to all this so just:

P1 $3k toward a CIP
P2 is between cards right now

Target Debit card is in the mail. P2 already has one. Does anyone else find it odd the way Target acts like a bank-issued debit card? Is Target the only one who does (or gets away with) this. Not complaining, just commenting.

I was also thinking about starting a spreadsheet that compares the cost and effort to reward of the 3 most popular strategies discussed here: CC, GC, and Bank churning. This could be too big of an undertaking for me because I barely understand CCs :D , but I'll tinker with it today.

I was going to use my Capital one miles to erase my uprade to Annual passes at WDW. I upgraded at guest services. It didn't code as travel. I'm not sure about Universal tickets. Report back. if it works.

MSR Sunday which is really a MS Sunday for me because I don’t have any MSRs right now but I’m busy.

P1
11k left on Hilton for free night.

p2
10k left on Amex Biz 50k point upgrade offer.

This week I am going to try and do as much as possible at office supply stores with the CIC. Not even close to maxing ours out.

MSR Sunday...
Currently waiting for P2s CIP to arrive in the mail...will knock out the bulk of the MSR with MILs assisted living bill...which is $4,854 per month...she then reimburses us by check
No other MSR.....putting expenses on the correct UR card to maximize category spending...and the rest on my CFU
Future plans...another Chase card in December for both of us...undecided on which one

I just put a cruise on hold with Princess for Feb. 2021. I am waiting to see pricing for Disney before I commit but I can't believe the mouse will be cheaper and I think I'm leaning toward the Mexico itinerary on Princess anyway. We'll see - I'm anxious to see the pricing quotes over on the cruise board. This would be a surprise gift for DH.

Fun fact - apparently you can pay for a Princess cruise via PayPal... Chase Freedom category starting Tuesday!

Awesome to know about PayPal for Princess Cruises!

What itinerary are you looking at in Mexico?

We cut way back on this several months ago. It was embarrassing how much we spent eating out. It was so hard at first, but then I got in the routine of only going out once a week max and now I hardly miss it.
The hard part now is declining invites from friends to join them after hockey practice etc.

My biggest struggle with not eating out is deciding what (and when) to cook. I’m terrible at meal planning.

I have the targeted Cap One Venture offer but it would put me at 4/24 until Aug 2020. I really want a gold for grocery stores too. I could get the gold for DH but might run into issues with giftcards at Kroger since sometimes they ask for ID.

Confession time: I messed up my health insurance at work 🤦‍♀️

DHs enrollment is September and mine is October. Since we got married, I've carried DH on my health insurance because even having to pay a penalty for him it's way less for better coverage plus we get $500 in my HSA for him on top of the $500 I get for me (this is for being on a high deductible plan) AND I also get $500 each off our premiums for doing a checkup (I can do mine at work this week but DH will have to go to a Walgreens or something)

So DHs enrollment comes out and I went in to compare to mine - I don't have my new info yet but typically increase is only a few bucks a month. The only way I can get back in and see what my costs would be for just me instead of including DH, etc, is to pretend I have an event where I'd get to make changes. I've done this many times and just never hit save/enter/whatever. Well I must have this time 🤦‍♀️ But I didn't realize until my paycheck cut last week and my insurance costs were different, plus my HSA contribution was lower... and then we got the paperwork to verify it in the mail. So that's a call I wanted to make yesterday... I'll try today since that coworker isn't here. I don't think my local HR will be able to do anything, so I'm just calling our HR service center at corporate.

So anyways, I had finished my BoA Checking DD requirement so I put my DD back to how I had it before - my 'base' after taxes etc goes into my main checking, and anything over that goes straight to Ally. Except I switched that to Discover since their rate is higher (are they the same again now??). Well this week I came home to an unexpected UPS envelope. I open it and it has two sheets - the first I pull out is a check and at the top it says something about life insurance. And I think:

OMG - did I put down that DH DIED as the reason I needed to change my insurance, and they sent me life insurance money???

Nevermind that I did not use a death as the reason, and I don't cover DH for that on my insurance through work...

No, it's because Discover kicked back their part of my DD :badpc: So they are also on my list to call - they don't want my money anymore and are kicking everything back with zero communication to me. Ughhhh.

I finished this last night (in one day, because I am a glutton for punishment and stayed up to finish because I had to know what happened!) 📖📖📖📖📖 I enjoyed it

I’m glad you enjoyed it. I couldn’t put it down either but it was a bit harder to binge on audio. I want to look for other books by that author now.

Wow, those censors really aren’t messing around!! I follow a thread here to track guaranteed room
as signmemts on DCL and even the title of that ancient thread has been censored. A bit too extreme.

Looks like it’s a good week for VGCs between Staples no fee and OD-
Office Depot/Max: Visa Gift Cards, Save $15 When You Buy $300 [9/29-10/5]
What’s the typical fee on a visa gc? Like $4.95? I can’t remember. We don’t have a CIC yet but could still use our CIP and serve

Just curious as to what made you fly to Osaka instead of the bullet train. I'm planning to go to Osaka too and saw the deals for the 5k United flights, but figured by the time I made it to the airport, waited for the flight, and then actually flew there that it would be about the same time as the bullet train. Just didn't know if I was missing something :)
Have you ever ridden the Shinkansen? If not, I highly suggest it. It’s so amazing and a really cool experience if you’ve never done it. Dh and I would easily pick the train over a plane but we don’t like airports and both of us love riding on trains

P1
11k left on Hilton for free night.

p2
10k left on Amex Biz 50k point upgrade offer.

Since you are the MS expert....at Walmart does it work at any cashier or just customer service...

Let’s do MSR Sunday!! What’s everyone working on? Just a reminder to please not list what number card you’re working on if you’ve received a certain card more than once. Thanks!!

P1
~$500 left on Amex Hilton Biz

P2
$1K left on Amex Hilton Biz
$4.8K left on CIP
Just finished MSR on Citi AA Biz via Plastiq payments to our HELOC utilizing the recent Plastiq promo.

Future Plans
Citi AA Biz for P1
CIP for P1
Amex Gold Personal for P1 or P2

Signed up P2 for a Discover Savings account but it’s pending ID verification (had to send in pics of his drivers license). Hope to move the full $25K (in increments) to trigger the $200 bonus.

Let’s see what you’re working on!
😕 No MSR for me. I’m waiting to apply for SW business card next month. I’ve been without a MSR for about a month and dealing with a little withdrawal.

it only works through UCT.

I probably wouldn’t have gone for the card except I am now down to 2/24 and will be back at 1/24 next month!

We haven’t, ive actually never been on any train other than metro/subway. We are definitely doing it as part of our tourist experience haha! Just curious as to whether there was some advantage to flying other than the ability to do it on miles.
