Just locked in a no penalty ally cd getting 2.3 percent. Amex is also 2.1 for now.

I’ve thought about doing that before, but I have just enough in liquid savings for a CD, and I often use that money to move around for checking and savings bonuses. I know it says no penalty withdrawal, but I can’t imagine if I was moving 10-15k in and out at a time, like I was recently for Discover, that they’d be very happy.

Yeah, I have had success with them not following that before. I hope tomorrow I can get more than one.

Definitely YMMV, I bought $400 from the manager and all he asked was for my ID and if the credit card was in my name. He said it was due to credit card fraud. I was fine with it, I was actually anticipated they he would say I could only get one.

Sorry, I was genuinely curious, because I have never gotten one. I didn’t think you could just throw it away, but I wasn’t sure how they worked. It is sad that many people would love to do it and never get called and others have obligations that make it difficult and do get called. Seems like there could be a better solution. I was actually just talking about this because my MIL got a notice recently. She was initially excited but then realized she had no transportation (she is legally blind and lives alone) so wasn’t able to do it. But I was thinking of all the lonely seniors that would love the opportunity to get out and do something like this more often.
No offense taken. Honestly I used to respond to them. I work full time in a public service job, homeschool kids etc, but after so many times of explaining this I just started tossing them. Now my dh, on the other hand, would love to get out of work to go to jury duty. The two times he got one we had a cruise planned. I felt more guilt applying for a business card then I did tossing my jury duty notice. I guess we all have our comfort levels.

Yeah I have gone to this store multiple times and this was the only time that I was told it’s one per customer even though the sign on the rack always says that lol

:offtopic:

I need to buy a mattress to be delivered to dd's new campus apartment (unfurnished yay). Any recommendations for brands or websites? Casper is waaaaaaaaay too expensive for this purpose.

I would go for one of the box ones on Amazon. Have seen great reviews on some of them.

We've had good experiences with the Zinus brand on Amazon. 12-inch gel memory foam for spouse and I. Both of use think it's the best mattress we've ever owned (not that we're picky) and we have a 6-inch twin for one of the kids, it is also decent for what it is. Also use their frame/box spring/platform contraption with three beds in the house.

Tomorrow at this time I'll be at the airport. I should really get motivated to start packing but I just am not in the mood. At least I have a list so I shouldn't forget anything :)

Are you going to the Dreams Unlimited event? I think I remember you mentioning that. If so I'm so jealous! In the past year or so I've gotten really into the Disunplogged podcasts. Hope you have a great trip!

:welcome: to the thread! I'm not gonna be able to help with your question, but I think you're new here.

On an slightly related note, from my first CIP

Thanks! And congrats on the CIP bonus! I’ve been around for quite a while but mostly lurk. I’ve looked a little more into that ANA RTW ticket on reddit. A few have commented on how tiring it would be, which I could see. With 8 stops though it seems like a fun way to hit all the international Disney parks and see some sights at the same time. Better start earning those MRs 8-)

I could use some Chase advice. My plan was to get the CSP when the CIP stuff came up, so I got that one instead.

I was all set to get the CSR tonight when I realized that the CSP would give me 60k URs (instead of 50k) + DH would get 15K URs for referring me. So, is there any compelling reason to get the CSR? I already have Global, but could double dip the $300 travel credit, and would get 3x on my upcoming spend (instead of the 2x the CSP gives on travel). On top of that, DH doesn't have his CSP anymore so his link won't work for long.

Anyone want to advise me?

ETA- we did the math taking into account the annual fees, travel credits, etc. and it looks like a wash.

The CSR also redeems points at 1.5 vs the 1.25 the CSP does when using the Chase portal. So make sure to include that in your calculations.

I am. I'm excited. I'm going to Ryno's event at the taphouse Wed and then a couple of us are taking a minnie van to mk for our 7dmt fps and EMH. I planned an unofficial event for solo travelers so there's a group of us doing Soarin and then breakfast at GG Thursday. There's the pandora party sat and the podcast taping sun. I'm trying to fit in some lasts too before stuff goes away but I'll just miss the movie in canada and soak it all in since I'm not planning a wdw trip until 2022. Oh and I'm meeting up with @wendow Wednesday morning too :)

Good point. My DH has a CSR and is planning to keep it, and if he does it won't matter. I just asked him to check and see if it's too late to PC his down. But I think it's too late for him to double dip the credit. I thought I had a set plan but I keep looking for the best way to go and end up doing too much math. ;)

I agree the math is very close. Since your husband has a CSR and you can get the CSP referral, I think the CSP works out better. You can hit your $4,000 MSR and forget about the card. With the CSR you will have to actively use it on travel 2x to double dip the credit now and at the end and you will only get the full 3x vs 2x on the MSR if you use it strictly on dining and travel. If you were going to benefit from the PP access, travel insurance, and higher redemption I think it would be worth the time and effort for the CSR. You can just earn the bonus with the CSP and combine to your husband's CSR and sock drawer the card until its time to PC. I like easy 😂

I love that you planned a meet for solo travelers and will also see @wendow in person. So nice how the DIS brings people together! :grouphug:

That's what my DH is saying, even though I can pretty much wipe out the spend on an upcoming trip (so will get 3x I think). He says it's more work to do the whole double dip thing on the travel credit. In the end, with the math we did, the difference is 500 points, which really isn't worth much. But the CSP would definitely be easier, even though I'll only learn 2x points on that upcoming trip (and that, plus the credits and AFs were put into the calculations).

If it were me and hubby already has the CSR I would probably go with the CSP for the lower AF and extra UR for support and higher MSR
