To have the miles reinstated to your account, AA charges a fee of $150 for the first award ticket on the ressie and $25 for additional tickets reinstated on the same ressie. I recently had to cancel a trip booked on miles. I believe if you are Exec Plat status (I'm not), they will waive the fees.

I knew they charged a fee, but this is pretty ridiculous... :rolleyes1

So check out this email I just received from the Marriott I'm checking into on Thursday. Can't remember who just stayed here, @Alexle2007?, at 37th street in VA Beach:

Dear Guest,

The City of Virginia Beach has partnered with the Army Corps of Engineers for a $22 million-dollar beach replenishment project to protect against hurricane and storm damage. This project includes widening the beach for the entire oceanfront area. The project is scheduled to affect 37th to 38th street, Wednesday July 31st through Friday August 2nd which is directly behind our hotel. These dates are tentative as they could change due to any delays with the project.

Hotel Information:

• The beach area before 37th street and after 38th street will remain open during this process; guest can use the boardwalk for a short walk to the next available section of the beach either north or south of our hotel.

• Expect to see heavy equipment and work crews in the work site for 24hours a day, the equipment used during the beach project may cause some disturbance throughout the night.

• Complimentary ear plugs and sleeping masks will be available at the front desk.

• The sand pumped from the bottom of the ocean may leave a slight odor as it settles on the current sand.

• Air freshener is available at the front desk for you should you need to freshen up your guest room after opening the balcony door.

We thank you so much for choosing Courtyard by Marriott Oceanfront North for your upcoming trip to Virginia Beach! Your patience is appreciated as the beaches are protected from future storms. We are committed to ensuring you have an enjoyable stay. Please contact the hotel if you have any additional questions or accommodations requests.

WHAT?! Are you kidding me?! You send me this email at 4 pm on a Monday 72 hours before I check in?? I find it extremely hard to believe that you didn't know about this $22 million project more than 48 hours in advance of it starting... The last day to cancel was 7/25.

So what do we think I ask for out of this? All rooms at this hotel are beach facing, so I am absolutely going to be staring right into the face of this construction. I don't want a refund since I'm not paying for the room anyways, but I would appreciate some points back.

Oh WOW, I feel for them too paying cash! I wish I could still get SW flights. For almost 2 years now I have had almost no non-stop flights. Now I see all NYC flights will be out of LaGuardia so what I was seeing had made sense. My SW days seem to be over 😞

My main options are JetBlue or United. If I book JetBlue as soon as it is released I get a good price. You can find a cheap JetBlue here or there after that, but it is usually on a Wednesday or some weird times and I can't do that for a quick weekend trip. United goes up and down and all around. 😂 I also feel JetBlue prices competitively against United so they both fluctuate a lot. It is annoying.

I think Southwest will return to NYC when the Max 8s get back in the air

Nothing like running out of propane with the burgers half cooked. Thankful for the george foreman for a change.

I'm sure you see a chiropractor do they have a massage person? Mine has 2 and I see one of them, she's great.
Yay for George!

I actually do not have a chiro, he died a few years after the accidents. I found my massage therapist after his death and she was so good I only once had the need for a chiropractic adjustment. The very highly respected and recommended one I chose hurt me beyond belief.

The really sad part to this whole saga is my dd. She was in the car both times and I was driving her car both times. First accident we were returning home after spending the day shopping for a concert. She was wearing a boot from a foot surgery so she couldn't drive. Her car was fixed. The second accident was on her 17th birthday. (We had made her wait until 17 to get her license so she was going to make the appointment for the following week.) We had gone into the city (thankfully I didn't want her driving) to go to her favorite place, Powells Books, and to get Voodoo donuts as her birthday cake. Some uninsured, unlicensed, high on heroine @$$H*)& plowed into us and his truck ended up in our backseat. Her car was totalled on her birthday and we both ended up having back surgery. It ended her volleyball career and she has a much longer life of pain and surgeries to look forward to. :sad1:

To top it all off we had to sue our insurance company because they didn't want to pay our medical bills.

(OMG I swear my life comes straight out of a soap opera.)

My Hilton biz AF posted and I need to cancel. I'd like to app for am amex biz card first. Any suggestions? I don't want to call about that plat biz with the big AF. Here is what I have from amex:
SPG biz, SPG personal, hilton biz, bbp.

Thanks to uniforms and books another $625 of the Hilton Biz MSR completed. On a side note, DS looked pretty handsome in his school blazer. I need to get him to try on his dress shirt, tie and blazer together. (Which he hates. Thank goodness it’s only for dress occasions until next year where it is every day dress.)

OMG, there was just a Whirlpool commercial where they were using Google to turn the oven on and off and my Google mini in my bedroom told me it looks like that device hasn’t been setup yet. I hope that’s not a sign that I need a new double oven. I am hoping my GE Profile lasts until we sell the house in 5 years.

I was discussing fall break with my boys and asked if they would like a week at swolphin or a short trip in a wdw resort. They said a shorter stay at BC. I may have to veto them.
I'm debating getting the Amex Marriott business card for a couple of nights at the dolphin pre-4-day cruise. I'm holding off to see what kind of discounts Disney offers. Normally Jan-April discounts would come out in September, but who knows this year. Fall discounts came out really late.
