I was able to link my dolphin resort booked on points that I don't have to my MDE. My reservation is for the first weekend in Feb. I guess that means I have until early to mid-January to come up with the points. It also means I'd have to get approved for the Amex Marriott business.....I'm so afraid of a pop up.:crazy2: I'm also not quite ready for another MSR. If I do get approved I will have all the Amex cards I'm interested in and it wouldn't matter if I'm on Amex pop up list.

I've always been a Hyatt and Hilton girl. If I've ever stayed a Marriott I don't remember. I like the fact that I can book a reservation far in advance without the points. That's a bonus. The Marriott biz might be winning out over the Hilton biz. I'm also thinking the annual free night would make up for AF making it another keeper. That would give me 4 Amex keepers and just one on the chopping block...the delta gold.

Help - anyone dealt with this before?

DH and I both have CIP - I opened mine in May, he opened his in June, with my referral bonus. We both received the 80k after spending $5k. DH also had a Chase Freedom that we upgraded to a CSR to use the 1.5x points redemption for travel.

I transferred my CIP points to his CSR a few weeks back. Totally fine. Used it to book our hotel at Universal.
Now I went to transfer DH's CIP points to his CSR and I get this message: "You are prohibited from transferring points to this card at this time." Got the same message twice, about a week apart. I went through the FAQs for combining points, which told me (bold underline was added by me):

Note: You can't move points to another eligible card if either account is prohibited from earning or using points at the time you attempt to move the points. To find out more about how you could be prohibited from earning or using points, please log in to your Chase card account with Ultimate Rewards, and click on the "Rewards Program Agreement" link at the bottom of the page.

Then I went to the Rewards Program Agreement, and I see this (bold underline was added by me):

How you could be prohibited from earning or using points

We may temporarily prohibit you from earning points or using points you've already earned:
  • if you don't make the minimum payment on your account within 30 days of the due date.
  • if we suspect that you've engaged in fraudulent activity related to your account or the program.
  • if we suspect that you've misused the program in any way, for example:
    • by buying or selling points
    • by moving or transferring points to an ineligible third party or account
    • by repeatedly opening or otherwise maintaining credit card accounts for the purpose of generating rewards

You can begin earning and using points again in the next billing cycle after your account becomes current or when we no longer suspect fraud or misuse of the account or program.

Soooo..... now what do I do? These are the only CIPs we have, and I haven't charged anything on DH's CIP since we hit the $5k spend at the end of June. We paid it in full in July and there's a $17 credit on that card now. I will try to charge something on it tomorrow. Any tips for me?

I also planned to open a new CIP for me on 8/1 (that's my 3 month mark), using DH's referral. Wondering if I should wait on that...
I haven't seen the error message myself, "prohibited" does seem scary, but I wonder if it could be the issue people get when they can't transfer points from two different cards to the same one. Some people try a daisy chain to get around it. You could try transfer DHs CIP to your CIP and if that went through, then move to DHs CSR.

The stuff at the Disney store was more like what you would see at a Disney store in the US; no park merch. The stuff in the parks can only be bought in the parks or at the store in Ikspiari (like Disney Springs). They still had some very unique things and it was fun to see what they sell vs. what you would see here. I thought it was funny that they had Disney themed saran wrap lol.

Yeah, dh worked with the volumes a lot. He's still trying to get used to it, but I think he must have been too far from his phone. He told me he was practically yelling for the speaking part at the end of the video. It could just be that he was recording on his phone? I have no idea because we used his phone to vlog with, too.

We walked a lot the entire trip tbh. That's kind of our touring style, though. We booked that Airbnb because we knew it was walking distance to Harajuku and Shibuya. You could for sure take local trains to get around instead of walking to and from each train. It just felt cheaper and less of a hassle to walk.

That's what I figured with the Disney stuff, but those washcloths :) No idea on the volume stuff but if he plans to do a lot more maybe a mic into the computer would work better. I've never done anything just listened to podcasts that sometimes bring that stuff up :)

I agree on the walking but I've got to accommodate my friend and if we're going to do 2 weeks including 3 parks, well 4 if you count TDL as 2, and walking in the city and finish with the great wall before we fly home I've got to keep it to a minimum. It was for sure a heated discussion in Paris. We do have tentative plans to do a pedicure at the Hyatt I want to stay at on Okinawa which would be our half way point in the trip so it'll help. I think I just need to plan one somewhere in a trip from now on. Gotta keep the BFF happy :) Though that's the only thing close to an argument we've had over like 8 trips which isn't bad. We also never had drama when we were growing up in school together so I think that helps too.

Try transferring them to your CIP then to his CSR.
His CIP—> your CIP—> his CSR
Sometimes it won’t let you transfer from more than one card.

I used to have problems transferring from dh to my account until we had more accounts to choose from. Then I had to make sure I "clicked" on the account to transfer from and the account to transfer to and have never had a problem again. But I don't recall ever seeing that message you received.

Hey - anybody on here tonight who has booked Universal Tickets with URs? I put in that we would use them on November 1st. Does that matter? I'm snagging 8 tickets and just want to make sure I haven't messed anything up haha!

I assume I just get them emailed to me then? Anything else to think about?

UGH - well they don't warn you about this but apparently they don't send you print at home tickets. They are will call tickets...

    (1) At the entrance of the Universal Orlando theme parks, look to your right for the Will Call Kiosks
  2. (2) At the kiosk machine, you must swipe a credit card matching the Customer's Last Name listed on this confirmation page for identity verification only
  3. (3) When the kiosk asks for a phone number, enter the first seven numbers printed in the Supplier

So uhhhh if your married sister is coming in from Philly and planning to hit the parks that morning before you take-off from Pittsburgh...and you put the tickets in your last name, apparently you have a PROBLEM!

:badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc:

Now on hold for going on 20 minutes with Chase trying to figure out what to do here. It's not cancel-able but had I known this I would have booked 6 tickets in my name and 2 tickets separately in her name. This is exactly what I wanted to do at midnight tonight... I called right away because I figured if anything could be done it's best to hit it immediately.

I guess my backup plan would be to order her a CIP employee card with her former last name on it and have her try to use that pick them up BUT she won't have an ID that matches that if any issue comes up.... I could also just give her a credit card with my name on it and she could attempt to use that.

I know this one!

I have a confirmation email from Expedia with the following instructions:

I seem to remember will-call tickets being available in the Royal Pacific Resort lobby, but maybe I hallucinated them? I can report back in 40 days and 20 hours.

EDIT: Just saw your conundrum! Hoping you can get it all worked out!

I should've waited just a few more minutes to book them. I just wanted to handle it and get to bed.... THANK YOU SO MUCH...I wish I had waited to see this.

Do you know what the 7 numbers are for number 3? I didn't see that anywhere on my confirmation. Will that come in a later email?

Not helpful now but they are super easy to get from the kiosk, we did it last time we went in 2016.
Do you think if I just give my sister one of my random CCs with my name on it OR order her an employee CIP card that will work fine? It does just say that the last name needs to match...

(I think I'm more frustrated with the lack of warning on this...what If I was buying these tickets as a gift for a friend!! I never would've thought of this being an issue)

I would think one of your cards would. I don't remember needing to use a credit card for it, I thought it was just the confirmation number. But it could work like self check in for the airline at a kiosk in which case she'd need one of your actual cards and not an employee card cause it would need to be tied to you.

hola, back from vegas!

on the bright side, i was not eaten by grasshoppers...

Did you fly private again?

The Information from Chase actually says the CC Last Name just needs to match interestingly enough. It will probably be fine but I don't like to chance things on probably when my flight starts boarding at the exact time my sister would be attempting to enter the parks Saturday morning. Now, she does get in Friday night and can attempt to handle all of this at the hotel's ticket desk too.

The frustrating thing for me is, had I known this (oh how I should've waited for @Artygal90 to respond) then I'd have just booked 2 tickets in my sister's name and 6 tickets in my name and we'd be all set... Now I have 8 tickets in my name... so even if they pick them up now they might need to come back out to the entrance gate to meet us at 2pm when we roll into town. I was TOTALLY expecting print at home tickets from Chase URs...

Just concurring with others -
As long as you put in the correct # of passengers (which seems like just 2?) then it looks like they do have award space on that flight in First.
(I got excited once when I checked a flight but only had 1 ticket selected. Went back to do 2 and the flight disappeared - they only had one award seat. Hate to get hopes up)
25k One Way is standard sAAver award for First Class contiguous 48 states travel. (So 50k, pp, RT; 100k total)
You just want to check for "First or Business is not available on all flights" for flights with a connection. Means one leg is going to be in economy but you'll pay full price still. You'll see it in Red under the "Flight Details" link if it comes up.

When checking for Main Cabin cash pricing to compare, they'll show the lowest "Basic Economy" price and when you click on it you'll get the choice for that or standard Main Cabin to compare side by side. Edit: I like that it gives the full totals next to each other on the pop up.

And concur with @NewbieMom - here's the reinstatement policy for cancelled award flights. You can either pay the reinstatement fee or just forfeit the points (https://www.aa.com/i18n/aadvantage-program/miles/redeem/award-travel/award-travel.jsp).
Reinstating flight awards

Contact American Airlines Reservations for assistance with canceling your flight award reservation and requesting mileage reinstatement.

  • You can request to have your AAdvantage® mileage reinstated for a wholly unused AAdvantage® award ticket and if the ticket has not expired. For tickets booked on or after November 1, 2018, you can request to have your AAdvantage® mileage reinstated for a wholly unused AAdvantage® award ticket if your reservation is canceled prior to departure and if the ticket has not expired.
  • The reinstatement charge is $150 per account for the first award ticket. Additional award tickets reinstated to the same account at the same time will have a $25 charge per ticket.
  • This fee will be waived for Executive Platinum members using miles from their account, including for Economy Web Special awards.
Still feeling new to all of this. My DH and I both have new Citi AA cards and just met our MSR on both. I really want to go to Hawaii, but DH doesn’t like long flights. Being able to use these points for first class tickets might make convincing him easier! Can’t wait until our points post so I can start checking this out.

But if she can do them Friday she should be able to leave them at the FD for you to get when you check in.
