Anyone have tips on booking Royal Caribbean Cruise Line (RCCL)?
RCCL CC offers $100 back, but CIP will come close to that (and help meet MSR plus some insurance).
Will Costco beat RCCL price ? The online price is worse, so does it require a phone call?
Other thoughts?

I've only booked DCL so I'm not sure if it's the same with RCCL, but I have both booked directly through Costco and transferred a reservation made while on-board -- the incentive was the Costco gift card that you get after sailing, which was easily better than any incentive offered by a TA. The only trick (that I know of) is that you have to transfer the reservation within a certain time frame (30 days maybe?).

DH just now: “My oil light keeps occasionally lighting up on my dash. What do you think that means?”

Me: :scared: Off to buy a couple quarts of oil... don’t know what’s up with that but I already really don’t like it.
I have a car (Subaru Outback) which is known to eat oil. If I am a bit late with my 6 month oil change, the oil light comes on.

That's exactly the type of tip I was looking for. We will book direct with RCCL, then will try to transfer to Chase UR and delay the PIF like you!

Again the DISboards comes through!
You will need to be very friendly but firm about wanting to pay at PIF because Chase will press for that UR payment when you transfer. My girl had to get approval from a supervisor for a “one time” change in the policy. She took care of everything and I received a confirmation from RCCL about an hour after I spoke to her. She called me back the following day to let me know that the transfer had been completed and then asked for the UR payment. I reminded her that wanted to pay at PIF and then she put me on hold to speak to her supervisor since conveniently forgot to ask before she called me.

With RCCL, you have 60 days to transfer:
Bookings may only be transferred to a Travel Advisor up until 60 days from creation if the request is made outside of Final Payment period and the booking is not paid in full.

Which cruise ship are you looking at?

ETA: They gave some BS about wanting make sure there was a payment on the account. Which is utterly ridiculous since how could have booked direct without putting a deposit to have a cruise to transfer????? It wasn’t flying with me and no other TA does that nonsense.

i buy most of my uber credit at 20% off.
The things you don’t think about/know when you live in the country and there is no such thing as Uber :) I even checked around my work which is much more robust area and there were only a handful of restaurants on UberEats and nothing I would be ordering.

Ok, I am perplexed? Why would you need UberEats if you were going to pick it up yourself? Why wouldn’t you just order directly from the restaurant?

We have two $15 Uber credits each month, and are having a hard time finding a way to use them. So this would be ideal, except those pesky delivery fees really eat into the credits.

Ok, I was wondering how you pulled that off :D Nice work!

That 60 days might work out perfect for our URs posting, because I don't think I can count on Alexle2007's persuasiveness.

Be aware that delaying PIF with Chase is VERY YMMV. Also, RCCL will only allow a transfer out for a limited time. Not sure what that was, 60 days from original booking perhaps? So if you can't get Chase to suspend payment till later you will either need to have points now or pay the remainder with your Chase CC.

ETA: Looks like I'm a day late with old news! Lol!

Thanks both! If I can get the right appointment times we could go with to pay. just to understand, so you just go with the necessary documents to your appointment and they do it all in one go?

Yes just make sure that they each have the right documents. My husband took my 12 year old a month ago and had the state ID but forgot another form of proof. I was at work so didn’t have a say but he ended up having to pay $31 to do a state record birth certificate check. (Sad but true if he had left it up to me I would have gone back again with the right documents and not paid that).

When I went with my friend the agent had me go back in the kiosk with her and just asked the basic questions...had her verify that was printed on the screen was correct. Then they did fingerprints and then she took my card and identification and paid. They say weeks to get the KTN but we got the letter in the mail for my daughter maybe 2 weeks later; my friend got an email 3 days later! So while you don’t get the KTN right away it is pretty quick. It is most definitely worth it; you have the credits anyway and that way it takes a painful step out of the travel process.

Haha, no problem. Tonight this board save us $200! @Alexle2007 's original tip will get me to the Chase URs travel agent. So the second half of the trip will be, say, $1000 which could be from cashing out 100k URs, but CIP has the 1.25x bonus so it would only cost 80k URs (a savings of 20k points or $200)

About URs though - we met a good chunk of DD's CIP spend and she was planning on sending some of those SUB points our way when she finishes the spend. Would that look bad? Same last name and same address. We could really use those URs.
I transferred ILs URs to DHs card. same name and address. No issues ever.
I forgot to add that it seems Uber Eats has been rolling out a “Pickup” option. Participation might vary by locality and how many restaurants they’ve signed up near you. I haven’t tried it personally, so I don’t know what if any fees they charge for this, but GrubHub by comparison doesn’t charge fees for pickup. Might be worth looking into if you want to avoid fees.

ETA: I just played around with the Pickup options and there’s a good number of restaurants nearby. No service or delivery fees that I could see in my cart.

DoC has a running list of Uber Eats promo codes (limit 1 per order):

I was looking at this a bit last night. But seems denver only has places downtown for now. Maybe this means we need to use a Marriott cert for a night away downtown and do uber pickup for dinner :rotfl:
Sounds a lot like our day. We could’ve bought the quick que....for an additional $89 pp lol. Yeah that’s more than we paid to get in. The food we had for lunch wasn’t good at all
Ugh. This is what I'm worried about when we use our tickets for BG... aaaaaand DH is spoiled and will want quick que now :sad2:

Today we drove over to Assateague Island. Last time we were here in May we saw this little guy happily gamboling along the pathway. Today we saw another young pony with his mother. We don't often see young ponies as the herd on Assateague has a controlled birth rate. We are staying at the Hyatt Place on the Boardwalk and since we arrived yesterday morning it has been gorgeous weather and a great stay so far.

I will post a few more pics as soon as I can as I think I'm going to try and get some sleep!

So the girls are enjoying the pool and as the ocean is right there, the pool is pretty deserted, but they managed to find another 3 year old to have some fun with. My grands are the girls on the left. There is also an indoor pool adjacent to the outdoor pool.

I was told we wouldn’t need QQ because lines wouldn’t be that long. This was false lol. Many of the coasters got to 100 minutes today. I think we rode four things and decided we were done for the day. We waited 60 minutes for Tigris and 40 for sheikra. I never wait that long for something at Disney.

Ugh. I'm thinking of trying to use ours in Jan or Feb to avoid that. I'll have to read up before we go

As we approach the end of the month, this is for those of you still with Amex Uber credits to use up:

Awesome for anyone who didn’t wind up taking a 6 1/2 hour Uber drive from Scotland’s Glasgow airport all the way to London Heathrow this month.

By the way, PlanePrincess was furious over this Uber drive. Not because of what it cost but because the trip didn’t earn him diamond status :rotfl2: Apparently they only count domestic trips.
