Ok, step one of Citizens bank bonus churn is complete. Got the account open :)

Didn't get instant open this time, it made me upload documents for ID verification yesterday and I had to wait for that to be reviewed. Got the email that the account is open now but have to figure out how to get an online account setup. Instant approval is nice, got a temp ID and the account numbers all during the application last time. I think without the account number or debit card I might be SOL for online access, but I guess I'll know for sure when I try in a bit.

Wish they were more like the credit cards where they wouldn't approve you if you weren't eligible for the bonus. I'm technically 6 months from closing the last one so I should be good, but for some reason I never got a final statement from that account even though I haven't had access and they stopped emailing me about it within a week of closure. It still recognizes my previous userid but in cruddy Citizens fashion just tells me my password is bad rather than I don't have anything to access. So now the waiting game begins, this one isn't a quick payout. But for 600 bucks I figure it's worth the few minutes of effort to risk it :)

Brief update - #1 evidently Citizen's just reuses the User ID and adds the new account to it. When I tried to enroll they give you SSN or Acct # options, since I didn't the account number at open I had to go by SSN which told me I already had an account :rolleyes2 I tried my existing login and now it let me in with no remnants of the previous account showing anywhere.

#2 Also for kicks and giggles, since Citizens is debit or ETF only now for opening deposit (no more 1k CC funding :sad1:) I tried a VGC debit. No dice. I got another email about an hour after the account open one that my funding failed and I'd have to go in branch or ETF to make my deposit. Was kinda wishing I had gone out for a Meta MCGC just for shear curiosity but I really only tried it to see if I could get an easy liquidation of this ~30 VGC that I keep managing to misplace just when I'm somewhere I can spend it. :badpc:

We don't allow cell phones in the building at all. Smart watches are also not allowed. No food or water either. We provide all snacks and drinks for jurors, and we'll also provide a phone if you need to let somebody know that you'll be late.

The worst is when we have to pick alternates... if a case is set for longer than one day, we seat more than 12 jurors, usually 13 or 14, in case one person has an emergency or gets sick. They have to be there everyday and listen to the case and don't know they're alternates. At the conclusion of evidence and argument, we draw names from a hat and the 13th and 14th people are told they are excused and cannot deliberate. I always feel awful for those people, especially on a long case. They usually take it well though.

Is there a reason why no cell phones? I mean it would be a problem if people didn't turn them off in the courtrooms but there was so much waiting around in holding rooms and hallways that I appreciated having mine -- there was even wifi :) Also no problem bringing food and drinks into the building, and there were a lot of vending machines in the hallways.

I imagine the altenates were just happy to be able to leave.

Lol ok, productivity has been low at work this morning. I played with FPs some more and moved things around. I switched my initial AK and HS/Epcot days. AK was showing no more FPs for EE, Safari, or FoP that Monday when we were originally supposed to go, but a lot of availability for Tuesday. So I rebooked everything, including FoP, for Tuesday instead. I figured the lack of availability for Monday was indicating a higher crowd day at AK that day, so hopefully it'll be a little better on Tuesday. Moved our ADRs around too. I actually like our Epcot ADRs better now. I plan to go to HS in the morning and then go through the IG entrance and we'll eat lunch at Teppan Edo. We then have afternoon FPs in Epcot. I'm thinking about not booking anything for dinner and instead just snacking our way through the plethora of F&W booths. The only bad thing about moving the AK day was not great availability for Yak and Yeti for dinner for ADRs. But I've read multiple posts that say to buy the Landry's card and that will get you in faster anyways. Anyone have experience doing that for a party larger than 4?
Been thinking about buying one for our Aug trip cause there are no good ADR's for TRex or Y&Y. Do you just buy the card online or do I need to go by a Landry's beforehand or buy when we get there...?
We like Bubba gump at city walk and will be at UO 12/31-1/2. Looking into the card.
Do not hesitate on Landry's Select! I ate at Landry's places in WDW 3x before joining. Waiting 20 minutes at Y&Y with an ADR convinced me to do it. They announce when they seat "Landry's Select Members" and I noticed all of them had come in after me so they definitely get priority over ADRs. You break even with the welcome reward and you can sign up online. You also get a birthday reward. They cannot be combined, and the welcome reward must be used first.

I am weird and still book ADRs and show my card and get in super fast. I also used it at Bubba Gump in City Walk where there was a 60 minute wait and I walked right in. I will note, the subscription did not code as dining on my CSR HAHA

All you soft pretzel eaters need to get one at the sams club snack bar next time you are in there. They are soooo good...taste like fresh dough and not chewy, just soft. Yum!
Had one yesterday! Very yummy! Buttery and salty perfection 😁
I know what I'm doing after work... planned to stop at Costco for a couple things we need since I have that GC from the cruise.

"Yes DH, Sam's is uhhhh better prices on that stuff..." *munch munch munch*

I just did this last week at YnY. It was myself, dd20 and 2 of her friends, and DD3...so 5 of us. I just showed the lady at the podium my card and she said they'd clear a table for us. I had time to run to the restroom and came back and our table was ready. There was a wait that we skipped in the process, because there were lots of people standing around waiting inside and outside. This was for a lunch and during the lunch rush time period. It was delicious!

For juries, it's so you can't look up anything to do with the case. It's important to make sure you have an impartial jury that isn't familiar with the case, and if you were to learn the defendant's name and go google him, you might come back with a news article that says something like "man kills entire family, fights police during arrest." We do not sequester our juries in the sense that they can't go home at night, so conceivably you could go home and google the defendant. But the judge admonishes the jury multiple times to not look up anything about the case or drive to the scene of the crime or talk to anyone connected to it.

ETA: also though, our juries are not waiting around very long. They report in at either 8 or 8:30, watch a video, and then go straight to the courtroom baring some sort of bizarre unforeseen circumstances. Our jury pool is almost always sitting in the courtroom being asked questions by 9:30 am. If you're excused for some reason, you leave immediately. Otherwise, everyone else in the pool leaves once the jurors are selected.

Online is fine. Buy it well before your trip so you have time for the physical card to arrive. Idk if you need the physical card to use the seating benefit but better safe than sorry!

I've only used my card at YnY but I never carry the actual card. I downloaded the Landry's app on my phone. At the podium I just tell them we are LSC members, and then have the app ready at the table when they come to take the number.

Thanks for the info! I think we're going to try this. I've never had trouble being timely sat at Y&Y with an ADR, but the only Y&Y available for dinner right now is at 4:30 and our FoP FP is at 4:20. So I'm thinking we'll ride FoP at 4:20 and then just head straight across the park to Y&Y afterwards with a Landry's card and be fine.

Oh, I did make to the BWI PP lounge, The Club. It is in terminal 4 and our gate was right there on United. It is small and people (guests) are rude. Many single people taking up lots of space, there was a family of 3 (one was a baby) taking up a love seat plus another spot. There was a family of 4 and the 2 kids taking up at least 4 seats. The cocktails were good. I had a glass of rose and 2 margaritas. I signed in my 2 co-workers and the gentleman enjoyed many adult beverages before our flight. I had some chicken noodle soup, salad and a maybe a cookie. They had mainly “salad” sandwiches and I don’t do mayo. The one very odd thing was no bottles of water. I tried to grab a couple for the plane ride but it was a no go so I grabbed a Perrier and Coke. I did notice on my return flight that there was a crowd waiting to get into the lounge. If I were flying United again, I would definitely make a stop but probably won’t go out of my way from the SW terminals.

I have been slowly trying to catch up the last few days after being without service inYellowstone/Grand Tetons since last Wednesday. Haven’t wanted to reply to anything as I also have the annoying problem of having to find my spot again because it sends me to the end. But this is one of the first posts I happened to read as I am catching up while in the BWI lounge, lol. We flew Salt Lake City with a connection here. We are flying SW, so it was a bit of a hike but we have over 3 hours so we are making it work. Didn’t like having to go through security again, but we all have Precheck so not too bad, except DH and I both filled our water before boarding in Salt Lake City and forgot about it when we went through security again. Got yelled at, but made it through. DS not happy with the food selection in here, but making it work.

I have been using Opera browser since all the pop up issues a few weeks ago and now I just got a pop up here, ughhhhh. I don’t even like this browser.

DD is flying back from Australia today and if all goes well she will land at 5:19 and us 5:20! Fingers crossed. She has already left San Francisco and looks to be on time so SW needs to do its part getting us off the ground on time here at BWI. She apparently has learned to ask for upgrades. Lol. She did get bumped up to Economy Plus on way from Sydney and she said she got moved to Exit row on this flight. And plus for me, I didn’t realize I could text on SW flights. I had seen the messaging, but I thought I could only message people on the plane. Nope, iMessages and What’s App works so I was able to communicate with her. Otherwise I would have missed her layover.

Vacation was great, but I really missed my girls. Will try to do a long weekend somewhere with all of us in the next few weeks before school starts.

I think it would be interesting to see how a real trial compares to the TV shows -- but I might not need a whole trial to do that! The last time I got called (but not picked) it was a criminal case and the defendant was serving as his own lawyer, which did not seem to be going well even in jury selection, so that was a bit interesting. I have thought that someday I want to just go watch some of a trial but traffic + parking is a deterrent.

This time TV is better :) The one and only time I have been called for jury duty I sat for a criminal trial. Nothing interesting or exciting, a suspected drug dealer was caught with crap tons of pills - took just over a day, started late the day before, and they asked us to stay late to finish deliberating on the 2nd day. I really expected more polish on everything but while no one was a bumbling idiot, it's definitely not as smooth when you don't have a script, even if you've done it before. We did have a "jury will ignore such and such" moment which you know all the TV shows try to sneak something in because you can't unhear it :) Unfortunately for the defendant it somehow all started from a question his lawyer asked one of the cops and was a detriment to his argument :headache: I can't remember how that even happened but I just remember thinking - 'wow I'm sure Perry Mason or even Matlock wouldn't have asked that'.

So it was interesting and boring at the same time. I can honestly say I've never seen so many pills in the same place at the same time, so that was kinda interesting. Otherwise a little boring listening to the details - essentially they tapped someone's phone, defendant was on phone agreeing to a buy, defendant was apprehended at or on the way to the buy with the phone from the call and crap ton of pills in car as discussed on the call. Fairly case closed except I think maybe the phone wasn't on him but in the vehicle and they used nicknames on the call, so it left some room for doubt he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time; but given other evidence it wasn't very "reasonable" doubt. BUT this brings me to the other side of interesting and boring - frustration.

We had some good debate but just 1 juror was stuck on one part of testimony and couldn't move past wanting an answer to a question about it that no one asked. Since the lawyers didn't ask we'll never know. Basically after a while of discussion we had 11 jurors on the same page and 1 stuck on an issue. I don't believe it had to be unanimous either so it would have been fine 11:1, but that juror wouldn't cast a vote either way for a while. :sad2: Even did one of those where we called the clerk and went back in to ask a question of the judge... for which he couldn't really answer, as suspected. Really started to think they were going to have to do a dinner break if they really wanted us to wrap it up that day but finally everyone cast a vote.

I'd suggest watching a trial, even if you have to pay for parking, so as to not be a captive audience

If I booked a room using my marriott free night cert, and later decide to cancel within the window, do they automatically give that back? or will I have to call?

It is interesting how it is so different everywhere. My last jury duty day (county common pleas) they had called in about 150 people, randomly sorted us into 5 groups of 30 (they were trying to seat 5 juries). We filled out a questionnaire and my group sat until 3 PM before we went to a courtroom for be questioned. I brought yogurt for breakfast and an apple for a snack. Happy I could have my phone to waste time since I was sitting for 6 HOURS (did have a lunch break). My pool was for a personal injury case and I was glad I was not picked.

I would be a great juror then since I never watch (or read) the news. Everyone who knows me and starts a conversation with "Hey, did you see on the news...wait, no, never mind, here's what's going on." 🤣

Being out of the loop is deliberate decision since my bp and anxiety escalate if I'm exposed to everything horrible happening; unsurprisingly from Jun-Nov I find I receive a lot of weather related texts from frantic relatives. :o
