Breckenridge is a super cute mountain town, and closer to Denver than Glenwood Springs. Both are fun to visit and have nice hiking. Breckenridge is close to other mountain towns to visit too, whereas Glenwood Springs is pretty much on its own. I'd definitely go with Breck.

ETA: If you're interested in doing a 14er, Quandary Peak is close to Breck and is one of the more doable ones.

Thanks. My first choice was Breckenridge. Sorry I chuckled when you said do a 14er! My knees would never make that! I don't mind looking at a 14er but no possibility of hiking one.

I don't live in CO but we go out about once a year. My first thought is Estes Park but the hotel options are limited there and I'm not sure if there is a Marriott option. Breckenridge is an easy drive from Denver and has plenty to do and options to stay at. Another option might be to drive down to CO Springs and stop by Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak.
Thanks for some options. I was thinking Estes Park but no Marriott close. Just went to Co Springs in May and no need to go back.

@StephPlum I agree with platamama. Our family loves Breck! And honestly, end of Aug in Breck is just lovely. Where are you planning to use the Marriott cert? We should have our second one here soon and I think we will most likely use ours 'local' (meaning, Breck maybe...) for a staycation. I'm also considering the Gaylord out by the airport. It looks pretty neat and it is a cat 5.

Some of the 14'ers are easier than you might think!! Our highest peak, Mt Elbert, is surprisingly an easy hike.

Estes is adorable but there are so few chain hotels there. Part of the charm, I'm sure, but hard for us with hotel points to burn!

We just got back to the hotel from the H2O glow nights. It was a lot of fun! We got there at 6 pm and every slide was a walk on. We ended up leaving an hour early because we were tired. Guess who we saw at the event? The line jumpers from rnrc! I couldn’t believe we saw them there but we only saw them once so it was okay

We did H2O Glow Night two weeks ago and I loved! I think it spoiled me for water parks. I'm very fair skinned so not having to worry about the sun was fantastic.

I accepted the Biz Plat upgrade of my Biz Green yesterday. My Biz Green turns 1 year on 7/28. I figured if I waited until 6/28, I'd be on the hook for a prorated AF of only 1 month, or ~$50. Instead, I see an AF of $97.80 has already been charged. Oh well.

I went back and checked my original Biz Green card opening/AF posting dates. Looks like they are charging the pro-rated AF based on AF posting to AF posting vs. actual anniversary date. Grrr.

Finally got the Amazon 20% off with an MR point to work! Out of 3 accounts I’ve been trying everyday and none of them worked. This afternoon they all worked! I did unlink all MR redeem with points the day after the offer came out and immediate re-linked it, no idea if that had anything to do with it suddenly working.
Awesome! Finally worked for me too!

THANK YOU BOTH for making me try just once more. I kept getting the ineligible message for a while, so I gave up eventually. YAY.

Completely and 100% off topic but I just got my first set of progressive glasses and while I can use them for my phone/reading and general/distance, I canNOT focus on the computer with them at all! Considering what I do for a living... that's a problem. I've only had them 24 hours but I can focus on other stuff... just not the computer. Seems odd (and frustrating) to me.

Yes. Pay with Points through Amex Travel is 1 cpp [for flights], but Southwest is not on the portal so you need to purchase the ticket on your Biz Plat first then call Amex Travel to apply MR against that purchase. If you have Southwest selected as your airline on the Biz Plat, you’ll get 35% of those points rebated back in about a month or so.

So assuming a 10,000 MR redemption, 3,500 (35%) MR rebated back makes the redemption net 6,500 MR (1.54 cpp).

Yes. My first Biz Plat is still open. It turns 1 year next month. I’ll be closing Biz Plat 1 once the AF posts in the next month and a half or so. Thinking of an upgrade?
@Wanderlust, let me know if this works for you. (The calling to get mr applied to southwest flight) I have read about it but the comments on the article were very ymmv so I never tried it. Would love to hear your experience!

Neither of us are big water park people. That’s why we didn’t put them on our APs. It was a lot of fun but we wouldn’t do it more than once a year. Our local water park in Iowa had more thrilling rides than typhoon lagoon but the wave pool at typhoon lagoon is awesome!

When I was planning the ski trip I found a residence inn there that seemed nice.0

Still 0/3 on the Amex Amazon deal - even after unlinking and relinking :(
Last time no accounts worked at first for me. Then 1/3 accounts worked, then a few days later the other accounts worked. I’d try again in a few days just in case this is programmed like last time.

I agree. Try again in a few days. I unlinked my other Amex cards so that I could link my new BBP just this week. I enrolled the BBP in Pay with Points, kept clicking the 20% off promo all week and got the ineligible message until today. Good luck!

No unwanted family members showed up today and we found out the one burned bridges with more family so don't understand. We had a good time and the weather was great. Can't argue with the views either just wish the hills weren't in the way so you could see mt rainier since it's so close.
