I just got my first progressives a month ago. Haven’t noticed any computer issues, but I still take them off to see phone. I thought it was just habit, but a month in you would think I would stop. I really don’t think they were worth the extra $$.
I've had progressives for several years now. You do have to get used to moving your eyes to the different parts of the lens (ie if I look through the top, my computer screen is fuzzy, if I look through the bottom the distant road is fuzzy). It did take some time to get used to this. I got tired of the combo of contacts and reading glasses. Now I just have one pair of glasses all the time. It almost sounds like your reading portion prescription isn't right. Not normal to need to take them off to read the phone. The only thing I take mine off for is really, really small stuff like threading a needle.

My extended SC July visit had to be reworked because of our elderly dog. My DH travels for work every week and someone has to be with the dog. She is in too bad of shape to board or have a pet sitter pop in a few times a day. So...I'm headed to SC for the week tomorrow and again the last week of the month for my grandma's bday party. I was planning to use my 7 night cert at the residence inn outside my parent's neighborhood this week. Well....it seems they have messed with inventory sometime Friday pm or yesterday to make this week a black out for points. No way it is that booked up...who would stay there other than people passing by down the interstate? It isn't convenient to touristy Charleston stuff and the rooms are available on cash. Super frustrating, but also my fault for not taking care of this Thursday when I made the decision to do the split trip. The courtyard next door is available but they don't do free breakfast which is a big expense to buy everyday. This was supposed to be a really cheap trip...basically just gas. Ugghhh. Using this certificate and the extra marriott points I have is proving to be very difficult. Bonvoyed! (She goes running back to Hilton because they aren't lame like this.)

Some of the 14'ers are easier than you might think!! Our highest peak, Mt Elbert, is surprisingly an easy hike.

Estes is adorable but there are so few chain hotels there. Part of the charm, I'm sure, but hard for us with hotel points to burn!
Even though I've been to RMNP, Estes would have been my first choice. But as you pointed out, doesn't place nice with hotel points, at least the ones I have in m stash. I'm sure I could use URs but I need to find a use for my Marriott cert. We stayed in the Comfort Inn last time we were there which was very nice.

@StephPlum I agree with platamama. Our family loves Breck! And honestly, end of Aug in Breck is just lovely. Where are you planning to use the Marriott cert? We should have our second one here soon and I think we will most likely use ours 'local' (meaning, Breck maybe...) for a staycation. I'm also considering the Gaylord out by the airport. It looks pretty neat and it is a cat 5.

When I was planning the ski trip I found a residence inn there that seemed nice.0

I have a 35K cert so I am looking at the Residence Inn. It looks like a nice place.

Are there 2 ranges or 3? Mine have 3 ranges (formerly called tri-focals 😳 ), and the middle range is specifically for computer viewing. And they have a coating that is supposed to reduce computer type glare (this makes lights reflect a purple color, rather than the older green color, when viewed in the reflection on the outside)

OMG!!! We were at the same DAH!! I experienced a VERY similar issue with the bus to Poly, GF, and CR. Mine took about 30 minutes to show up so you got me beat! It really did put a little damper on the evening. It was the worst bus situation I have experienced after a DAH. I did it at DHS last night and a boat was sitting and waiting to take my back to YC (I switched resorts). So simple. SMH
I didn’t know you were there! We could’ve met up!

I'm not a water park person either, although I do have passes to Aquatica. I'm not a fan of thrill slides so I enjoyed the fun tubes in the lazy river and hung out with DS in the almost deserted kids area a lot.
I like the thrill slides the best. Our water park we went to in Iowa had a huge funnel slide and the water coaster was better than crush n gusher. We thought the slides at TL were just short and not very exciting. They would be fun for kids though. We’ve never been to volcano bay or aquatica so I’m wondering if we should try those out

Surprise this morning. Checking all the Chase accounts and saw DH had 51K points posted. What? I remembered meeting MSR on his CIU at the beginning of the month but I thought the points posted then not were just pending. I combined on my CSR. Replenishes the 55K URs I used to book a hotel at Death Valley next March. My style is definitely earn and burn. I'll never accumulate 1Million points this way.:D

Just accumulate the zeroed out receipts for the great time you had for free!

You'd probably like Aquatica. They seem to add a new crazy slide every year. They claim they are the top rated water park in the country. I like their super fast "lazy" river. No tubes, you can use a life jacket or just surf the current on your own.
I haven't been to Volcano Bay yet. It annoys me that Universal thinks it's a third theme park and not a water park. Plus they electrocuted people a few weeks ago, so there's that haha.

I actually haven't looked too hard for what Delta Gold Biz offer I could get from a public link--right now, the AmEx site is showing me 70,000 skymiles plus a $50 statement credit. I only have one credit card slot open although that's not really a problem at the moment because I only likely can swing the MSR on one more card before I start cancelling cards. I do think I am going to wait on the Delta card to see if AmEx makes the higher offer available through a referral link. The real question is whether I should just go for the Hilton Biz even though I have no immediate need for Hilton points either.

It's definitely a juggling act with AmEx!

I jumped on the Delta offer as it's the highest the Biz has been in some time. The Hilton offer has been out for awhile now. So I'd be more likely to gamble with that one. But that's just me. And I had the Delta Gold Personal I referred myself to the Biz from. But then I had to close the personal, to get the Biz. So who knows if I got those miles. Not really worried. I say do the Delta biz (and perhaps use a link from one of the members here so they get the referral?). After you meet that spend, then look at the Hilton Biz. At least that's my plan. I was planning on hitting the Citi Biz Spend, then doing the Hilton Biz, but now I might have a CIP I can get, so the Hilton will have to wait.

Completely and 100% off topic but I just got my first set of progressive glasses and while I can use them for my phone/reading and general/distance, I canNOT focus on the computer with them at all! Considering what I do for a living... that's a problem. I've only had them 24 hours but I can focus on other stuff... just not the computer. Seems odd (and frustrating) to me.

Give them time? I know when I get new glasses, even if they are the same prescription, my focus is wonky for a little while.

Swung by staples on my way to church and picked up a $200 visa. Split the tender between csr and cf so I should get $21 back. Then ran to Kroger and picked up another Disney gift card for our August 2020 cruise. Already starting to obsess about when I’ll cruise once dd is in college—2 more years:( either Christmas or her spring break but then I could not take ds.

Well, that's what I am thinking, but I literally cannot read the computer screen at any "level" with these on no matter how I adjust them or move the monitor around. I'll be giving the optometrist a call next week.

I really shouldn't complain as RK surgery served me well for about 20 years, but this "getting old" thing is beginning to wear on me!

I didn’t know you were there! We could’ve met up!
Yes!!! We could have even complained about the busses in person!! 🤣

The WL line was right behind me. I was honestly wondering why they didn’t lump all of MK together considering WL usually pairs with CR. I wish I was at CR so I could have just walked. A family on my bus decided they did not want to so they stood for 30 minutes instead. Ok 👍

Yeah a fast river is what I would like. I took my goggles to TL and kept swimming under water way ahead of Dh in the lazy river lol. People got electrocuted?!

So I have figured out it is only the friday night (7/5) that is the issue with the residence inn I am trying to book. The rest of nights are available on points. I am thinking I might split up the stay and not do a week since I'm not using the certificate. I can do wed/thurs nights points (35k total), fri cash (upgrade to most expensive room for total of $209 incl tax for $40 back from amex), and then another night or two on points (17,500-35k).
So can anyone verify the amex offers work if the total incl tax? I have redeemed them before, but for DH work trips, so I didn't pay that much attn to detail.

Alternatively I could do a hampton for 5 nights at 120k points. I'd just rather save those for something more exciting I think.
