Ok. I have to share my bizarre silly story. I referred myself to Hilton Biz from DH's Gold. Clicked the link, applied using my name, was approved and set up my business log in using my information. Then I realized it said congratulations DH....so I checked his email and sure enough he was approved for the card. I'm assuming its because I wasn't logged out of his account even though I had clicked the referral from my email? So now his business card is coming in my name. 🤦 I mean, we were both going to apply for it but what a mess I just created.

I almost had the exact same thing happen to me the other day when I referred DH to Hilton Biz! I thought it was just me being a dummy and I caught it at the last second and logged out of my account.

I just wanted to add this to help other churning newbies, like me (I know the "pros" here already know this) ....

If you want to get your sign up bonus points ASAP, make sure you post your transactions for required spending at least 4 days or so before the credit card's statement closing date.
I had enough bills to make my required spend amount in the FIRST month of billing. The problem was, some of these bills (that I wanted to pay with my new AAdvantage card) were not payable until the 18th of June and my AAdvantage statement closing date was the 21st. The transaction that paid these bills remained in "pending" for the better part of 3 days and I sweated bullets waiting for them to actually post to my account by the 21st. They DID... on the 20th and I was so relieved. We fly in the end of Oct and I know rates will be looking good in the next month or so, so I really wanted those "miles" (sign up bonus) to be released to my account ASAP.

Alls well that ends well but thought it might be a good "heads up" point here for newbies like me.
Good advice and reminder for everybody. I would also add that the timeline can vary by lender - For instance I have made transactions on a Barclays card (JetBlue Biz) 5 days before statement close, and that was not in time to trigger the bonus. So I would plan on a week to be safe.

Yes it does depend on the lender. For American Express (assuming they are liking you) bonus posts within a day or two of meeting spend. With Amex I have even had the bonus post while the qualifying charge is still pending! With Chase (at least with business cards such as CIP) if you meet the charge in one period it still might not post the bonus points until statement two closes. Just something to keep in mind...and an interesting (and depending on overall timing and need of points) something we sometimes overlook here.

I can't believe I didn't catch it. I just happily filled in my info and submitted. Now I'm concerned it's going to create a problem when I apply or for future Biz cards for him. I'm not sure how to fix it.

Dh and I went to Staples today and used our 25% back. We bought $75 worth of Amazon gcs (I know we can only get cash back on $70 of it). We've been super anxious waiting for my CIP to come in. We have a lot of things to buy for the house and wanted to wait until we have it. I doubt it'll come tomorrow, but that would be perfect since Dh won't be at work yet.

In other news, we plan to go see Toy Story 4 tomorrow and I'm pretty excited!

How was it applying for a new card and having a new address did you have to call to verify the app with Chase?

FYI, for those who are also planning to take advantage of the Business Platinum upgrade offer. I upgraded my Biz Green earlier this week and was charged a pro-rated AF on the Biz Plat since my AF on the Green was not slated to be due for another two months or so. It came out to be ~$110, which is easily offset by the Jan-June Dell credit that I will be using before 6/30 (thus, able to triple dip, in theory, before I eventually cancel the card next year). I chose not to wait out the two months 1.) not knowing if the upgrade offer was going to poof during this span, and 2.) I have/had imminent bigger spends that actually accept Amex and benefit from the warranty coverage.

I'm under the impression that if you cancel the card you'd no longer be covered by the extended warranty? Have been thinking about this since we need to buy some appliances. I guess if the warranty is only 6 months and it gets doubled, then you'd be fine.

You need to consider seasons as well. Mid April is not as popular a time for travel as summer is (especially for families who are tied to a school schedule), so airlines don't have much incentive to put out many award tickets in the summer. Have your Plan A, but best make a Plan B (& C) if you have your heart set on award travel.

On the UR accrual front, I saw this posted on DoC for 60,000URs for Chase Sapphire Banking that maybe you could do?

My plan B is to find a business class flight from a different airport and just pay cash for economy tickets to that airport. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and will keep checking all the way up to 5 months out. If there are none at 5 months there won't be any. I am seeing award fares even around Christmas and New Years which I thought was a popular time to travel, so I am hopeful. The saver fare on the return, NRT - EWR, looks to be more plentiful.

Does anyone have a guess as to when 2020 Disney reservations will be made available on AAvacations.com or useAAmiles.com? Not sure if anyone kept track last year when the packages were first released (I'm assuming no since booking Disney hotels with AA miles is still somewhat of a new thing but figured I'd ask !).

My understanding is that no one knows since it is a new thing using AA miles for Disney resorts. I know that as soon as someone sees them on the portals it will be posted here. I am looking to book a weekend in Jan.2020 so I will be checking daily and will post as soon as I see them.

As far as I know just keep checking your UR portal itinerary and it should eventually show. My trip is in August, I have confirmation numbers for Hilton, but not the other hotels we'll be using on this trip.

Tagging @StephPlum since I forgot to insert quotes.
