Posting a DP. I am looking at Marriott for next year’s trip and trying to figure out how to get another 36k Marriott Points. Wake up this morning and happen to check my account, there is a 50k night cert there now. I had the Brilliant card, used the credits in March, and the AF posted, I downgraded.
So timeline looks like
4/19 $450 AF posts
4/23 Called to downgrade
5/19 Credit 412.50 for Brilliant, charged 87.08 for Bonvoy
6/7 50k night cert added to my account

So $45.42 AF and a 50k night cert. I’ll take it.

@CyndiLouWho and another Chicagoans (if that's a word)- Looks like I get to Chicago for a conference in July and want to take DH and DS with me. What's there to do for a 12 year old? We'll be staying on the Magnificent Mile without a car for 4 or 5 nights. I'll have to "work" while my boys play I've been before but did adult things after a conference like hit the dance clubs until 4 am. Won't be happening on this trip.

If they are ok with Uber/Lyft, there are a number of things. Baseball fans can choose Sox or Cubs, soccer fans can watch the Fire. We’ve done sailing excursions, Navy Pier, museums. The Chicago City Pass lets you choose from the Shedd Aquarium, Skydeck, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium and Museum of Science and Industry (MSI). MSI is pretty cool and has everything from a tornado to a coal mine to a U-505 submarine. Lincoln Park Zoo is near the lake and one of the country’s best zoos, plus it’s free. Your son is into architecture? Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio is in Oak Park, a suburb west of the city but worth the drive. (I’m a huge FLW fan)
ETA: There’s also an architectural boat tour that’s fantastic. Ride down the Chicago River while viewing historic buildings.

I've been gone for a week and am way behind reading, but have a question. While we were gone DH's CIP bonus posted, but when I tried to transfer the points to his CSR, it said that card wasn't eligible to receive his CIP points. I'm sure this has come up before, what is the advice? Thanks.

Oddly enough, it will let me transfer MY CIP points to his CSR?

Some of us here have had the same issue when points from another card....your CSR are already being transferred to the card...his CSR...
Try transferring his CIP points to your CSR...then to his CSR

We need to stick together since we are the only two so far I have had my inability to be flexible come up in reviews at more than one place but I do try and get better but it's normally the person that the direction is coming from that is a lot of the issue. Or you expect me to do x because it's part of my job yet we're over 2 years into said job and no one ever told me that covering x as part of it and I have my own stuff to do so how is it my problem that the other person's not there. I'm totally flexible when it's stuff I enjoy/don't mind doing/makes sense and then get annoyed when it's stuff that is stupid/unnecessary/shouldn't be my problem. If only my face could hide my annoyance better

Try transferring his CIP points to your CSR...then to his CSR

The only other UR card I currently have is a Freedom. I cancelled my CSP because I am going to apply for a new one soon from his referral. Thanks though, I was able to transfer his CIP pts to his CSP instead of his CSR.

DD19 has been approved for CIP2

Interesting DP- She was 1/30 with chase. I knew when I got her the first CIP and that it had been over 4 mos. BUT I forgot she got a SW card less than 30 days ago. Didn’t even look at her spreadsheet before app’ing. SO, is there still a 0/30 chase rule for biz apps...?

One of us says we should keep it in the bag in came in, which has a velcro strip at the top of the bag to reseal it once it's open. The person advocating this position says the food will stay fresh longer this way. The other of us says we should store the cat food in an airtight plastic food container with a pop-up kind of lid so that it's easier to dispense and looks neater in the pantry. This person would concede that we should keep it in the bag if it really does stay fresher that way, but is not convinced that the velcro strip is better than the plastic container.

So, does anyone here know what is the best way to store dry cat food?

I’d let them get at least 30 days past their SW app (longer is better, imo) and then have them try for a CIP. My dd cannot meet the 5k MSR so I will meet it and use the points or cash back for our family Disney trips. We are both completely happy with that arrangement

We do both - the original bag, inside a plastic container. We have a cat & a dog, and the dog will definitely eat the cat's food if we give her the opportunity. (The cat is too good for the dog's food.) If the dog can't smell the food, everyone is happier. It's also easier to store a plastic container than a bag, for sure.

Thanks, I will definitely have her wait. I just wasn’t even thinking about her applying at all. My DH is applying for his first CIP soon, so will probably use a referral from him whenever she decides to try for it. I would do the same with her too ( me helping her meet the MSR) She wouldn’t be able to meet the spend, but we do go to Disney often so we could use the URs towards that.

I've had Dude's food in a platic container for 30 lb bags as long as I can remember. He can't smell it or he chooses to ignore it but he's fully got a hound nose and can sniff out dog treats in a sealed ziplock 4 ft above him on a shelf so I think it does a good job of keeping it fresh. It's certainly easier.

They have pet food bags with velcro now? They should do zip top like some treat bags, that would seal way better than velcro
It seems like air amd moisture could get through the velcro since it's not air tight.

I'm very intrigued by the velcro, I've never seen that before. I would think the plastic container would seal better, personally, having never had a resealable pet food bag. We actually kept the dogs food while growing up in a big popcorn tin

I'm not a Taurus, but the above applies to me too, especially the annoyance face. Working in corporate America has made me better at my poker face though.

I'm voting plastic container but that's just because thats how we store both the dog and cat food. Our dog food has one of those velcro tops and I haven't considered keeping the food in that but more so because the bags too big to handle. It's easier to just scoop it out of the container as needed.
