I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

Well, I just recently (like three months ago) was informed by a friend that I should be able to pay my internet bill with a credit card, so I started doing that, and they make it easy (can be done online through the internet company's website). I am actually not sure whether my mortgage or motorcycle payments can be done with a credit card... it never occurred to me to check! Adding that to the list of the things I need to check on.
So your mortgage and vehicle loans usually can't be paid directly with a credit card, but there are services out there that can make that happen for a small fee. But don't let that deter you from looking at what else comes out of your bank account directly to see what else can go on a CC instead. Our cell and internet bills go on a CC, also our auto, home, and life insurance premiums, and trash service all of which charge no fee to do so. Our water sewer and electric have CC payment options but they charge a small fee to use that. If it's a fixed fee per payment and you can afford to prepay several months in advance, that can make sense in some situations when you calculate out the return.

I know AF's are hard to swallow but try to look at it as part of the travel expense. I'd rather pay $95 for an $800 ticket, than $800 :p I take the AF's out of the travel budget and treat it like a heavily discounted ticket. Just make sure you are getting better value out of the card than what you pay to hold it when evaluating the fees involved.

I have been at this for awhile now, but still confused as to why everyone wants to be first on the SW release? Does it really make that big of a difference in price? This comes from the person who still has no flights for July vacation and every time I look I am just like never mind they are too pricey.

I was 15 minutes late last year for dd's Thanksgiving flights from college, and the only thing left was business select! I was up against the rest of the college parents for Indiana schools :rotfl:

Goodness. Just like that I have a CIP!!!!

That's... crazy to think about, actually. So I can just use it just like I use my "regular" Chase Freedom? Poof?
And then wow instant approval on a Chase biz card pixiedust:, congrats!!

Yep you can use it just like you were with the CF. It does have different bonus categories so you may want to look into switching some bills like cell and internet to it to get the 3x points and meet MSR at the same time.

Wow, I'm reloading a few Southwest pages, responding to your earlier post, and you go and get (instantly!) approved for a CIP! Congratulations!

Yes, the CIP works everywhere Visa is accepted. So in that sense, it works just like your CF. The bonus categories are different, but you're focused on MSR so bonus categories don't matter as much but basically the CIP earns 3x UR on shipping, internet/cable/phone bills, and travel (hotels, flights, tolls, parking meters and garages, etc.).

You may want to call CIP customer service at 1-800-945-2028 to ask if they'll expedite your new card, and they should send it to you within about 2 days. Then you can start putting your spend on it!

for us the price is typically the cheapest as soon as it releases. sometimes I can find it lower but most times its best to get it right away vs later

ugg well just spoke to swa they are starting to release at 9 am est. so i guess I'll just be a little late to the school this morning :-) worth waiting to book them first

ETA she did tell me that there will be several batches. Just hoping what I need is in the first batch. I could call back at 9 to get it but its so much easier to do it on my own than have them book 10 flights for me. apparently they can book all flights come 9am but we have to wait for them to release :-(

Hmm, my DD is in Indiana too and definitely didn't experience this. I was looking at flights probably a few weeks before Thanksgiving and there was still some to be had. But she would fly out of Chicago, so not sure if you are somewhere else. We have decided the best way to get home for her is Amtrak. By the time she gets a ride to Chicago, which is a pain in the butt from campus, an hour or more early in airport, flight time, and we have 1.5 hrs to get to PIT, it takes about the same amount of time as the 8 hr train ride. The Amtrak station is about 10 minutes from campus. And the train is overnight, so she gets on and sleeps.

Of course, I took my wifi box with me linked to my laptop to keep checking on my way to take DS to school. At least, my work calendar is empty this morning! Now do I book Christmas in Punta Cana first or Thanksgiving in Orlando? I think I need our return flights first since they are during the peak than our departure flights since they are shortly before the holiday.
