Go two of SOs Amex cards in the mail today and they can’t be activated online. Still no response to the CFPB complaint either. I’m getting annoyed Amex.

I don’t think profit has anything to do with their decision making. I believe they’re attempting to look at greatest customer disruption and the logistics of getting planes and crews to where they need to be. They know their ability to recover and re-book customers on some routes is easier than others. Their goal is certainly to get as many people as possible to their desired destination (and with 34 planes out right now - it's just not possible to achieve that 100%)

Just let me be sinister for a little bit will ya?! My canceled flight was booked full three months out so it was not the lightest of the day but only one canceled... I was told it was canceled because it was a Max8 but I had already checked that and then was told to be thankful they gave me notice!

Ah, I've refilled my Diet Pepsi so I am all good now. :drinking1Prob should have done that a few hours ago. :cool1: So whats up @SouthFayetteFan ? :thumbsup2Lack of your favorite beverage can do strange things.

We all need to vent - you earned that man! Upon a re-read, perhaps my comment was overly blunt. (I'm trying to DIS while also reviewing loan documents for a closing on Friday sooooo perhaps I needed a Diet Mtn Dew myself :) And I will agree that their re-book solution for you was UTTERLY RIDICULOUS! 10 hr layover? But I guess if that's the best they can do...what do you do? You probably send it to the customer and wait for their feedback...

(and you could be right...maybe profits are driving the decision...I hope it's not and it's what I said though, lol)

My wife had a CIU in 11/18 and a CIC in 2/19 (so very similar). I’m waiting until May to go for CIP2 for her (and so if you’re asking - I’d make the same recommendation to you). I just don’t want to risk shutdown over going too fast. You’re also about to be 1/24 in May so I’d factor in whether you want to risk a Chase shutdown with so much runway available soon.

I think you're right (of course!), it's just so tempting! Here's hoping May comes soon! Thank you for your input.

Shutdown risk is all about application pacing/velocity. If you list your cards out like @magickingdomprincess did I could give you my read on the situation :)

Chase only?

CSR & CSP - July 2018
CIP - October 2018

So not so many cards. The worry is if the CIP#2 would bother them. I figure P2 can apply for the CIC without angering the Chase gods, but the CIP would bring in so many more URs. No EIN # here, so it would be with his name and SS# again. Is it risky?

If I can complicate things further...I also think you'd be fine to go for it now...LOL! But I say that with 95% confidence. Meaning I reserve 5% for the chance of a shutdown, which if it went negatively would be a TERRIBLE thing for you since you're about to be 1/24. It would stink to get back to 1/24 but have Chase blacklist you (and what we don't have a lot of DPs on is if somebody gets shutdown, does not get their accounts reopened, when will Chase approve them again...could it be months? years?)

Whether to go for a card or not comes down to risk tolerance. Somebody who has used all their URs, is at 4/24, ready to bust out over 5/24 and isn't looking back to Chase; I'd modified double dip the heck out of that 4/24 slot and move on. Who cares if you get shutdown. I generally preach conservative pacing here because it seems most of us are slow/moderate churners and that we want a continued relationship with Chase (be it for URs or SW CPs or whatever). We are a slightly different crowd than the r/churning folks of course!

Not only Chase, what other cards do you have in the past year? (Assuming it isn't a ton...I'm gonna wholeheartedly recommend you try for CIP#2 now...you should've done it a month ago with those stats :P) Please feel free to provide the other cards too though and I can reaffirm this position if you want :)

I am flying SW, but not until the end of May. Currently booked on 737-800, nothing has changed yet (points actually just went down, so I got some points back). Hoping it's cleared up by then, but I guess we will find out.

question...I don't think I ever received a Bonvoy replacement card for my SPG card(s) so I've been using my old purple card no problem... has anyone else gotten a new card?

Nope. Old purple one here.

yes it is active. Now that I'm looking at it, it won't even let me customize for my may trip. I keep getting an error message, and I actually need those for my boys b/c I have no clue where their bands from years past are.

That's weird. Mine didn't show up until I used it (so of course that was after our trip) and then when I logged on it said I could order my AP one (that did arrive with the slider).

This is P2 - He couldn't try until yesterday due to his 5/24 status, but the old store card from 2017 finally dropped from his report yesterday.

I was just trying to egg you on so your 7k post was you yelling at me. #LifeGoals

Haha, I totally get why you're saying! I think it would be ok, but really is it worth it? I still want to get CIU, CSR or CSP (or both), and 2 SW cards next year. Who knows after that, possibly even Hyatt. Since Amex is so much more challenging now, I need to stay on Chase's good side. :)

Same fear here of angering the Chase people and not being able to have their cards...

Well, for what it’s worth, I’d say your stats are safer than most of the people on the thread going for CIP#2!

I went to a couple of Staples over the weekend for the fee free promo. One place insisted I could only buy one, and as soon as the (rude) manager heard me ask about them, he came over and asked to see the card I was going to use and my ID before allowing the cashier to ring me up. I asked what his problem was, and she said they are protecting against people using stolen credit cards to purchase the fee free cards. I left with my one card and then went to the other Staples in town and bought $1000 worth, lol.

I hit staples hard last week. 8k total. Each time they let me do 2k transactions even with the new limit one sign up.

:offtopic:Ok, HP fans, I am doing a HP theme for my final staff appreciation week at DS’s school and I plan to make chocolate frogs for the teachers. If the luncheon is the week of 5/6, how far in advance can make the frogs so they are still good? I have 160 or 240 of these to make, in addition, to making pencils into wands.

Nice! I may go for cip. My stats are similar to your dh’s.
I have FOMO too... but will wait the 3 months until late May/early June
No advice....but did you see the DP above @pillow ....was just approved for a second CIP and 6th Chase business card

Note though that the old CIP was over 2 years old and had been PC'd - so not 2 at once.
