I haven't seen this one mentioned yet, but it drives me insane: we're and were. I had this sentence on a wedding thank you card ".... so much for your generous gift were going to put it towards a house." Never mind the lack of proper punctuation, but please use correct grammar on a wedding ty! I see it all the time now, so I am not sure if people know the difference anymore.
Even my texts look like they came out of a book lol. I doublecheck them before I send them

So fund $250 with a visa, use promo code, use bill pay three times (> $25), keep account open for six months. And keep $1500 balance to avoid monthly fees. Am I missing anything?

I think that's it. I just did the direct link from DoC's website and it didn't have a spot to put in a promo code. Not sure if that changed since the offer was extended.

Trying to figure out where to use my bill pay at... Maybe paying on DH's Citi card? I know some places don't like it if you use multiple bank accounts to pay their cards, but I don't know who... I'll avoid Chase since I don't want to anger the gods, but I don't care about Citi.

@disneymagicgirl Thanks for the recommendations on food in Charleston. Just ate some great fried chicken at Jestine's kitchen. Good stuff.

For any other NPS fans. Went to Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie and they were just named a National Park a few days ago!! They had been a national monument. That puts me on track for 5 parks this year. Congaree and Sumter/Moultrie (just did); Great Sand Dunes (May); Olympic and Mt Rainier (July).

BTW to add on to the grammar topic. I used the apostrophe correctly in the second sentence for possession. Not for a plural. That is the one that I cannot stand. I had to tell a repeat offender at work that every time he used the apostrophe wrong a kitten died. He stopped.

@Lain @SouthFayetteFan my AmEx Hilton Aspire shipped to me on December 14th. I got the AmEx business in late January / early February. Am I okay to call for reconsideration on my Bonvoy business application on Tuesday (I had the decline for too many cards on March 8th). Or should I wait until the end of the week?

Please refresh my recollection of what Amex cards you’ve opened or applied for in the past 90 days?

Quick question. I just got my SW business from Chase. The statement closed right after it was issued with just one small charge. When do they usually charge the first annual fee? I thought it would be on the statement, but so far nothing?

Pretty sure Chase charges the AF on the 1st of the month following account opening or anniversary.

So back to credit card news:

Chase Sapphire Bonus to change tomorrow:
https://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-sapphire-preferred-increased-bonus-to-60000-points-annual-fee-not-waived-in-branch-only-current-live-online-tomorrow/

So it will move to 60,000 pts with NO waived annual fee.

This is at a minimum $5 better than the current offer. If you can use URs for something other than cash it is a slightly better offer. I haven’t seen any word yet on what will happen with support links.
I don't like this. If it weren't for the CSP offering my the free first year I would never have tried it out and decide to keep and start paying some annual fees. I now have three AF cards and plan on keeping two of them long term. I would much rather see folks try the CSP for a year free than give them a larger SUB.

Dh made it and is at his hotel. He said it’s right next to universal. I know it’s a Hilton hotel because he got a cookie checking in and said he’s on the Hilton honors floor. He also said he added my honors number to his reservation after the office booked it for him. He said everyone he’s encountered has been kind of rude but he’s used to midwest courtesy. I’m jealous of his warm weather!

I miss midwest courtesy

@wanderlust7 has been following the DPs as they were coming in this past week, and it looks like r/churning is calling it: PNC bank funding is dead with Chase credit cards as of 3/13/19; now codes as cash advance.
Oh snap! Just when I was getting ready to try it.

Did you mean your credit score dropped 9 points or went up by 9 points??? I thought the purpose of lowering CL was to get your score up?
Yes it dropped. I was a bit surprised by how much it dropped. But my score is still high enough...

Most of us are lowering our CL with Chase to improve our chances at approval so we don't have to call recon.
Exactly!! And it worked as I was approved overnight for my new CIP!!!

Is he at the Doubletree on Major Blvd by the Universal Entrance? That's a fave of many of us here for Universal trips on Hilton points!

I was getting ready to ask the same thing since that’s where we stayed in November! We only interacted with one staff person, but I do remember thinking she wasn’t generally the friendliest person I’d ever met. The hotel was nice though.

So this whole rental car and AA miles thing has me crunching some numbers...

It's pretty inexpensive to add a rental to your trip. It seems on a bunch of dates I checked, it's only about 3k miles per night to add it. DISCLAIMER: I don't know what happens with everything if you never go pick it up, but lets assume that's not an issue...

So I was planning on a split stay trip in January with the following assumptions:
  • 4 nights @ Epcot Area resort for 172k AA miles
  • 3 nights @ Contemporary resort for 230k AA miles (looking at MK view)
I can get tickets through URs if that still works so I'm tossing them aside for a moment...

However to add dining would be about 87k AA miles on the first portion and 65k AA miles on the second portion. I'd also have to assume an additional cost of about 3k AA miles for the "throwaway rental car".

This means that I can add dining for approx 170k AA Miles or so. I'm going to have a small amount of AA miles leftover so we'll round that down to 160k which is basically 2 more AA mailer signups (they net about 80k points).

If I can pickup a mailer for $40, have both of us sign up at once using that trick, and just Venmo the spend to get the points ASAP (plus then my organic spend can continue to go towards URs and other signups), I could basically buy the dining plan for < $340. Rounding it all off, it's $150 x 2 for Venmo + $40 for the mailer.

This $340 in cost buys me $1,600 worth of AA miles which pays for the dining plan and the rental car. This is like goofy Manufactured Spending for Disney fanatics! I'm seriously considering this suddenly...
So you can add dining even if you do not buy tickets? Just this 'throwaway' car rental?
