@elgerber I was going to suggest Venmo or plastiq as well. The fee with plastiq is slightly lower so if he can pay anything through there, I'd do that first. However, Venmo is a very good deal as well considering there is really no spend involved other than the fee which is worth it, imo, if meeting a MSR is too difficult otherwise.

I agree with @SouthFayetteFan that these are more last resorts so unless you need to get the CP asap, I'd hold off to see if your ds can meet as much of the MSR organically as possible.

I believe there may be some info on DISchurners for using Venmo. @Lain always suggests 'seasoning' an account first by making some smaller payments. Venmo can lock an account if they don't like something and the funds are tied up for awhile.
Thank you! He is working on his SW Biz spend still now. Maybe I will have him send me a few small amounts in the next few weeks on that one to season.

Ok well...this seems to be a DUD. Not only can you not edit the car rental dates...it seems if you add Dining OR Tickets that you have to pay in cash on a credit card. It doesn't seem like you can use AA miles for tickets OR dining...
Yeah, you can pay in points for tickets and dining but you can't modify the dates on the car.

I haven’t seen RMN chatter lately and I don’t follow the gift card thread. Just wondering if the Staples is still working for buying gift cards online.

Wait - how did you convince it to let you pay with points? Mine is not showing like that at all...It's saying the dining/tickets had to paid for in cash.

Just thought I'd share on the BB&T bank bonus...

DH's account is still showing the $250 push I did from our Ally savings as "exception/administrative hold." No idea why, but I'm not sending anymore money to it until that's cleared up. I wanted to send the extra $1250 I need to keep the account fee free, but I'm not doing it until my money is really there. I think it may be because it wouldn't verify my Ally account for some reason. I had to do two of the little deposits from Ally into my account and then verify the amounts before it would link up the accounts properly.

Yet on my BB&T account, the $250 opening deposit I put on my Hyatt Visa went through no problem and it linked with my Ally account immediately.

:crazy2:

Ok - nevermind, I think I figured it out. Wow - if you add activities the wrong way or login at the wrong time it won't apply points to them. That's weird!!
So this route is like throwing some points away on the cheapest compact car so that you don't have to use cash for tickets and dining. I would do it! Unfortunately I need to ride the train a lot longer to get a half million AA points.

Thank you! We have a joint bank account, can I deposit into my account with DH then transfer it into DS account? They can’t see that in our US bank account right? That would be creepy. I can write a check too.
DD and I transfer to each other after moving from Venmo. They cannot see the money after you move to your bank.

So fund $250 with a visa, use promo code, use bill pay three times (> $25), keep account open for six months. And keep $1500 balance to avoid monthly fees. Am I missing anything?

Also, can I just say all the grammar talk makes me smile? I have a master's degree in rhetoric. You are my people! :grouphug:

My undergrad degree is in linguistics, so this whole conversation is interesting to me. And let me just say, ‘who’ vs ‘whom’ is an antiquated distinction. :duck:But I’m constantly critiquing as well. Of the ones mentioned, ‘dinning’ also gets on my nerves.

I haven't seen this one mentioned yet, but it drives me insane: we're and were. I had this sentence on a wedding thank you card ".... so much for your generous gift were going to put it towards a house." Never mind the lack of proper punctuation, but please use correct grammar on a wedding ty! I see it all the time now, so I am not sure if people know the difference anymore.

FYI - I think you are actually referencing nonstop flights. I've seen this mistake made here a lot lately (by lots of folks) so I figured I'd share a quick comment:
  • A nonstop flight: Means a flight directly from one airport to your final destination without stopping (this is obviously your fastest option)
  • A direct flight: Typically implies a flight that stops 1 or more times before reaching your final destination BUT you do not change planes and you have 1 flight number (not changing planes means you won't miss any connections since your plane IS the connection but it will take longer than a nonstop due to the stop)
Both are preferable to a flight with a plane change BUT they do mean different things. I figured I'd set the record straight since we all want to sound like educated travel hackers here :)

I have no idea why, but using these terms interchangeably is one of my pet peeves (on the dislike side) so THANK YOU for setting the recorded straight!

@Lain @SouthFayetteFan my AmEx Hilton Aspire shipped to me on December 14th. I got the AmEx business in late January / early February. Am I okay to call for reconsideration on my Bonvoy business application on Tuesday (I had the decline for too many cards on March 8th). Or should I wait until the end of the week?
