My family felt led to this popcorn bucket:
Sully-popcorn-bucket-wdw_4793.jpg

Every time I got a refill I told them that Sulley was hungry!
I wanted a Christmas Pluto one so bad!

I chickend out with my Costco rep... she seemed a bit overwhelmed or maybe not as seasoned with Disney, so I just went with the 5 GCs. I'll call next week with the last GC and the two CSRs to use their travel credits

The popcorn bucket is party themed...I assume to celebrate Mickey’s 90th. It’s cute. I saw a Mickey balloon inspired one at MK too, but I don’t know if that’s new news or not. We just started with the popcorn thing about a year ago.

The balloon one's started in DL and have been at WDW before but sell out I think. The mickey one you posted was the one I was thinking about, I don't like the new cartoon, just not cute. I like the pixar one though.

Well, some news on my families accident: 2 year old has to have another mri for the c2 fracture. Daughter just got the email for this. The tricky part is for an mri she has to be sedated. They are working with a neurologist at Children's so in good hands.

Other than that, all are doing well. Daughter is still on crutches, but will start working with a physical therapist soon to put weight on her leg. She will also return to work in another week. She can't wait for that. SIL is way ahead of her in mobility since his surgery was almost 4 weeks earlier than hers due to her swelling.

And, the popcorn buckets - are they all refillable? I have one but we were never that into popcorn. The one I have is from the last xmas with the Osborne Lights.

I've concluded that I can't do moderate resorts. The travel time with the internal bus loop is unacceptable. (diva) I've resorted to getting off at POFQ and walking to my room at POR...9 mins...shorter than 4 more bus stops. Sigh.
Also, the floorplans are such that your sleeping area is right by the noisy door/walkway outside. It is flip flopped at deluxe so much quieter IMO. And of course at a deluxe you can open your blinds without everyone walking by looking in your room. OK, I admit, I am a hotel princess. Back to deluxe I go in May.
There is nothing like a deluxe! The proximity alone (besides AKL) really helps me justify the price difference. Location, location, location!

Besides deluxe, i've only stayed at AoA and CSR. They were both very short trips. AoA was a summer budget trip selected because of the singular bus stop and ability to take either AoA or Pop's bus and walk the bridge. CSR was when the construction started with a "magical" rate and I got lucky with a renovated room in Cabanas 8A. It was December and not crowded at all. Transportation wasn't too terrible, but not the best and I could not have handled it during spring break. Internal busses have discouraged me from places like Caribbean Beach. I think it would torture me with all those stops! I've really wanted to stay at POFQ. I think it would be my favorite moderate! However, the discount availability and rates tend to push me back to a deluxe.

Oh, in random disney rumor news, a little birdie told me that the chatter is that the dining plan is soon to be required. I can't see it really, but that is what the birdie was told by more important birdies.
I think that would be the end of my onsite stays for sure.
This would really discourage me from staying on-site! No way would I get my money back from a dining plan.

I'm not really sure what to do. I have just under $1,000 left on my CIP MSR. I have $900 in organic spend planned over the next few weeks so it will be completed before my April statement closes. I had planned on throwing my insurance charge on it, but I won't need to. It would have covered about 4/5 of the MSR so I don't want this to go to waste! I think its too soon to open another Chase card so I may have to look elsewhere and fast!

They are for length of stay not that they generally ask for the receipt of when you bought it. But it would at least need to be a current bucket. I think the refills are 1.50 or 2, I forget. It makes it a deal when I'm not sharing and can snack all day/have it for dinner. I eat popcorn for dinner at home so it's not weird for me.

Right now we pay our dues Disney GC's bought with my target debit card- which gives us 5% off. We currently own 130pts DVC resale- wanting to add 75 pts direct. A big draw to the disney visa is the 6 months interest free on Disney vacation purchases- which i have heard you can use for a DVC down payment- giving us a little extra time to pay it off. We have a family of 6- so the DVC annual pass discount is a big benefit. We have a 1/2 cash 1/2 DVC trip booked this summer- so will be paying for that first, and socking away whatever is left for DVC.

Chase Freedom has 15 month interest free introductory offer- which would also work for DVC down payment. Hmmm.. only $150 bunus.. Disney is $250. - but no annual fee.

It sounds like you are set on the Freedom but I would also just point out that the Freedom Unlimited is also a no annual fee and a 0% extended APR. The nice thing with buying direct (I just did 100 points direct at OKW this summer) is that you can split it and put the balance on multiple cards. So in theory if you time it right you could do 0% on those 75 direct points on the Freedom, the Freedom Unlimited, and the Disney and have 0% on all 3. The FU would be nice since it would net you more points with the Disney purchase. We are a family of 5 so I understand the value of getting the direct benefit of the gold AP’s (that was the primary reason I wanted a direct contract).

There is one with an aqua top too but I couldn’t find it at MK thurs pm. I saw it at Epcot today. I don’t remember what theme it was.

Eta: here is a link with the other. Maybe they are supposed to coordinate with the new mugs.

I have a problem. I am trying to rationalize double booking a night for our runDisney trip with just me and DH. We have CBR booked for 2 of the nights (we had too for the run package to get the race bib). But now my wild thought is to just book a night at a deluxe with the AP discount AND get the dining plan so we can get the new mug. Of course if we did that it would be first night in late staying at Marriott, second night at CBR, third night at deluxe (the double booking) and the other 2 nights on DVC at BLT. Paying a couple hundred to rationalize getting the new mug and the dining plan so does not make rational sense. Disney math and card churning sense but not actual rational logical sense...

Well, this one is a red and green Mickey! I'd really feel strange carrying it around out of season, lol. Would never consider bringing it back.

That one doesn’t make Disney math sense, card churning sense, or rational sense to me... but you do you!! :thumbsup2 Can you not just buy this mug?

I’m even a DVC snob! We own at BCV and also like to stay at BLT. Love having the convenience to walk to the parks.
In a pinch, I’ll settle for other properties but then we get a rental car! My DH burned out on buses long ago with strollers in tow!

Question...can you get SUBs on cards where you carry a balance at 0% without paying any minimums. So like you meet your minimum spend in 3 months but don't pay it off for 12 months. How would that work?

Every so often, I'll just buy a mug to have something in the room with a cover on it for early morning walks. Haven't done dining plan in quite a while, but when I do, I do it on a one night DVC booking. But, I can see 'some' sense in this because by the time you spend $20ish for the mug, you might as well spend $40ish for the 2 meals and snacks assuming the regular dining plan. (Not absolutely sure what it actually costs now, but I know it hasn't gone down in price.) And, that's when I like to book a Boma or 'Ohana ADR.

Would you use the dining plan credits? Maybe you could just add a dining plan to your DVC stay to get the mugs and help against the dining plan cost. It would probably cost less than adding a night at a deluxe and a single day on the dining plan.

Or spend the $40 to buy two mugs and not double book a night? Seems like you'd save more keeping it as is and then just buying the mugs. Have you asked the TA if they can switch the room to a different resort?
