My heart breaks for my home state

Glad you are safe! Most I know are in Lincoln and Omaha and also safe. I just think NE (and the midwest in general) is underrated and a wonderful place and people dont realize how devastating that is to peoples livelihoods too. Seems like it's barely hit national news.

Yeah its not right in Omaha but everything along the Platte River has flooded. It reached its max height last night and is starting to drop as of this morning but there was also another levee breach this morning. Now the focus has shifted this morning to the Missouri River that is expected to hit 34' tomorrow evening so a whole new set of flood warnings/evacuations went out this morning for East of Omaha. Bridges are washing out and really the only way to get West is by helicopter.

Has anyone here successfully bought one on r/churningmarketplace? Is it a straightforward PM, venmo the $ deal? I'm a little scared of venturing over there, lol. But I just started the clock today with my 1st Citi biz (instant approval!).
I have not but I chat frequently with the creator of r/churningmarketplace and I know he runs a tight ship. I haven’t seen or heard any complaints of “purchases gone wrong”.

We have fair to good credit- not excellent. We do not have a business. We got into trouble with credit cards in our 20's - we were young and stupid, and have not had anything other than store cards in many years. We are rebuilding our credit, and do not want a ton of cards.. too much room for error. We also need to replace our 10 year old van soon, so...

We really only want one more card for now. We may reconsider down the line.
We also are pretty frugal- so we do not want to spend on anything that is not in the normal budget, so the best return on groceries would be good. We want to be able to redeem for airfare- with SW or directly to Disney- We own DVC- so paying our dues would be great.
ETA - we do most of our grocery shopping at Aldi or Walmart, if that matters- I know some CC may be picky about what they consider "grocery" or "supermarket" purchases.

I don't think walmart counts as grocery but instead superstore. One option to save money, if you aren't already doing it, is to pay your dvc dues with disney gift cards. You can do well with earning points on your card. There's a few here that pay dues that way and many others that pay the trip that way. With credit card offers, like 10% back at lowes or staples and the cc points on the card you come out ahead. If you haven't checked out the gift cars thread I'd jump in there too though there's a lot of crossover with deals here too.

The one good thing with URs is they transfer to SW so that may be an option. With only wanting to do organic spend, which is what I do as well, what kind of spend are you willing to meet over the 3 months because that really shows what cards are out there.

So, I'm not so patiently waiting for 4/1 to apply for my second CIP, hopefully with self referral. In anticipation I'm working on lowering my Chase credit limits, I have two business cards the SW and CIP, any advice on how low to reduce these limits one is 5,000 and the other is 9,000.

Hello everyone!

Thanks to the group here (and especially SouthFayetteFan!) I have my first CIP! I applied 3/5 and was approved the very next day with a 9K limit. Currently I am 3/24 + the CIP. I will meet the MSR on CIP pretty quick because I plan to use it to pay off our May Disney trip by April 6th. This is a room and ticket package only. My question is what card next?? :-) I will have other expenses at Disney such as dining etc., so I could start working on another MSR then, but I don't know if it's too soon or which card.

I received 2 email offers recently - one for IHG Premier and one for Marriott - that had what seems like pretty good sign up bonuses. My focus is on travel. I'm sure you guys are already familiar with them, but they are below.

*earn 80,000 bonus points after $2,000 in purchases in 3 months from account opening + 40,000 bonus points after a total of $5,000 in purchases in 6 months from account opening. Apply by 3/27/2019. $89 Annual Fee.

*Apply now and you can earn 100,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy™ points after you spend $5,000 in purchases on the Card within the first 3 months. Offer ends 4/24/2019.1 Annual Fee: $450.

Are there better options?

If anyone has any ideas to get a good deal on BG Tampa please let me know (one day ticket). I'd like to take the kids for Spring break. I do see UT has the one day with the all day dining for $113.

Depending when you need them by, the daily getaways deal should start running in early April. It looks like I purchased my SeaWorld/Busch Gardens ticket on 4/12 last year.

You probably don’t want to pay an Annual Fee, but if you don’t mind, i would recommend the Chase Sapphire Reserve. It has a nice sign up bonus, and I use it to earn 3x on my Wyndham timeshare dues. It comes with really good travel insurance as well.

If you want no annual fee and a quick no hassle bonus, I would recommend a Disney Visa. There is a current referral for a $200 statement credit if you spend at least $500 in 3 months. It was fast and directly applied to my statement instead of having to wait for rewards.

I would have different recs. If you’re willing to pay an AF, Chase Sapphire Preferred is a good everyday card, earns URs (Ultimate Rewards) $95 AF, transfer partners with SW and others. Current bonus 50k points (at least $500) with AF waived first year.
If no AF desired, maybe Chase Freedom which has rotating 5% bonus categories, which can often be used to get Disney GCs (which you can use for DVC dues). CF earns cash essentially back but can be paired with or upgraded to UR cards allowing redemption for travel etc. Current bonus $150

UT doesn’t seem like such a good deal when you can get the same ticket from the BG site for $104.99. TravelZoo has them for $78.

So sad. Flooding is my worst nightmare (literally, my last house flooded twice in 3 years but not to these levels)
Hugs to all affected.

Unfortunately I think I’d like to go on 4/1. Aaa south seems to have the one day plus all day dining for $100+ tax so if I can’t find a better deal I’ll ask my mom to get them for me and pay her back.

Ut is fully loaded so it’s about $4/ticket cheaper than bg and codes as travel. Checking out travel zoo now.

I totally agree with this recommendation. The CSP would give you 2x points on travel( ie DVC dues) and dining. You would have access to use your UR points in the travel portal or transfer to SWA.

Thanks for the Plastiq advice! I’m going to give it a try. Any other quarter of the year we would have more than enough spend to use up these credits. It could be very advantageous for us to meet some of the higher bonuses on cards - like free nights and diamond status!

You may also be able to extend the expiration of your FFDs by using any small amount of them. It used to work where if you applied any amount of FFDs, you'd reset the expiration date on them to 90 days. It's been a while, so I can't say this is how it still works.
