Update on DH's CIP:
He received his letter from Chase-apparently they want proof of address/name/SSN. I wonder if he put in something incorrectly. I hope he can satisfy them and we can receive the CIP in time for Cookie Dog's surgery (fingers crossed!).

That’s good news..I received a letter on DHs CIP applied for with an EIN...once I faxed the letter in he was approved a few days later...

How many nights are you staying? I'm not at all familiar with Hyatt Regency but I know the location. It might suit your family better. I like the Sheraton because it is away from the action and should be quieter. The Sheraton also has free parking.

With my limited supply of UR's and Hyatt points and my 1/2 million Sheraton points plus free nights the Sheraton or any Marriott property is pretty much a no brainer for me, at least until I exhaust my points. Does your son play tennis or badminton? Sheraton has those. But, it is an older property so if your Hyatt is updated, that might be more appealing to you, plus the activity in the area.
I currently have 5 nights booked to take advantage of the free night. I just used Google Maps to compare the two and I didn’t realize the Sheraton was completely outside of Clearwater across what looks like a very long bridge.

But then I don’t like that the Hyatt is across the beach and not directly on it. I guess that explains why the pool is on the 8th floor.

We really, really liked the SandPearl Resort when we stayed there so I am trying to justify the cost when I have options I could do for free.

But I am also not sure we need 5 nights in Clearwater. We have 9 nights I am playing with- currently 5 in Clearwater, 1 at the Renaissance SeaWorld and 3 at Universal. Currently, all are free with Marriott cert, Marriott points and URs.

Did you ask @amalone1013 if you could borrow that emoji?? :rotfl2:

Also...it's better when you use a bunch of them...:badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc: It has a nice effect!
I have used it a few times myself recently (Citi IT is so sucky!) and I find myself feeling like I need to give credit to @amalone1013 for using her emoji. Like I'm writing a paper and need to cite my source

Art and lounge is great. Cardholder plus 2 guests for Amex Plat and CSR.

Thanks for this info. I'm sending it along to her. She has a Plat but more than 2 friends. Maybe someone else has one of those 2 cards, too.

I have more problems with this than adding utilities to my CR. Why does my future employer need to know my credit? Especially if someone was laid off and struggled to pay bills while looking for a job. To be denied a job because you need a job to pay bills is just wrong.
I am not sure it was a future employer but I know my employer (ok, federal agency) did a credit check due the sensitive of my position with them. I think it’s pretty common for certain clearances to make sure you aren’t as open to bribery or other reasons. Also, I was on detail to another federal agency and had to complete paperwork like I was a new employee (who didn’t have 20 years of federal service) and they came and talked to my neighbor. Just craziness.

I think @amalone1013 should get a royalty when we use it...as long as she accepts card!!

Fed clearance is different. My former college roomie applied to NSA and they interviewed all her previous roommates. Asked if I thought she’d try to over throw the government, which I thought was a hilarious question. But these days random companies with no need for high level security clearances, do credit checks. Apparently you are too high risk to hire if you can’t manage your credit. :sad2:

Wait a sec...you can negotiate hotel rates? I am seriously considering spending the summer in chs. I was going to do a month at homewood on points, a week at residence inn with my n&f cert, and then another 2-3 weeks on money. I could certainly adjust that to more cash and less points though, if I can negotiate a better rate!
You can. Just call and ask to speak to the general manager. I met with this one in person as I felt it easier to “sell” that way. They don’t all do it, but if you can find one that will, that’d be great.

Stays over 30 days have no tax either. Hyatt and Hilton still give pts and credit for 30+ day stays. So see which one has the better points promo or which status you’d rather have.

The r/churning Identity Fraud Police will come out and harass you!! And the sad part is the ones that will comment are probably 20something single guys or divorced bitter ex-husbands...:rotfl2:
If they had moderators that were worth a damn, that wouldn’t be an issue.

So as I sit here at work this morning, with nothing better to do than update my very neglected TRs... I'm wondering how crazy it would be to take DH to the Iowa State Fair. I grew up going every year of my life to the NE State Fair until they moved it out of Lincoln (still bitter), Also did the first year in Grand Island after moving, so nineteen straight years of fair. DH has never been to one. I feel he needs the experience. Ok lets be honest, I want to eat deep fried oreos on a stick :rotfl:
I went to the Iowa state fair a few years ago. I wasn't horribly impressed, of course I'm also originally from Minnesota, that blows Iowa's out of the water. Planning to go to Wisconsin's this year, assuming we are in the state for it.

My DH used to work for a federal contractor and also had to undergo a credit check. I think it's definitely related to bribery or potential for embezzlement if you're in a position to handle money.

I can’t speak about the other hotels, but I have stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Clearwater back when it was brand new in 2010, and we loved it.

I vaguely recall crossing the street. It wasn’t a big deal at all.

My sons girlfriend applied for a job with I think a healthcare company and they did a credit check...that makes no sense to me..she wasn’t handling money or anything like that

We added the offer to each of our Aspire cards just in case we decide to try out the Waldorf Astoria in Orlando or any other US based Waldorf or Conrad. No firm plans to do so but you never know.

It should trigger as long as the property is listed under their list of resorts and it isn't an advance purchase rate for US properties. https://www3.hilton.com/en/resorts/index.html?WT.mc_id=zkdCSAA0US1CI2REP4Resorts5US7BR840893

DH and I made a prepayment of $250 from each of our cards last year towards our reservation at the Conrad Rangali Maldives that we are going to this month. The charges were both credited. Be aware that advance purchase rates will not credit according to FT https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hil...286-hilton-amex-aspire-250-resort-credit.html

I added it too and am now trying to find a way to make it work. I also found that the Conrad Washington has an offer that if you stay 3 nights before June 30th you earn 5,000 Hilton points, plus the AmEx offer of $100.00 off $500.00 and 12X points seems like it was meant to be! So naturally I booked June 27-30 (at only $236.00 / night). Hoping I can make those dates work :rolleyes1! We just have to wait and see if dd gets the job as a camp counselor that she applied for at her school before I can book flights.

I cannot wait to read about your trip to the Conrad Maldives! Please please please post a few pics! When do you leave? I'm going to live vicariously through you!
