What I would like to know more about is "Plastiq". We have 2 properties and pay our tax with checks. If I can utilize CC's to pay for them that would be awesome.
There is a write up on DISchurners about plastiq. Some things are probably different now as @Lain wrote it a couple years ago but much would be the same.

You will pay a fee to use plastiq but sometimes it’s worth it to meet a spend quickly or for high spends that you cannot meet organically.

I'm sorry for all of you with Labor Day trips who are bummed about this :( do we have anyone happy about it? I'd like to celebrate that someone here got something good out of today's surprised announcement!

I’m excited! DH has a family wedding on Labor Day weekend at WDW that we have begged out of (because my Dh doesn’t want to deal with his family drama). If I can get him to change his mind I now have a really exciting wedding weekend planned. If I can’t, we were already planning to be in Orlando starting a week after Labor Day, so we can tag on a day to visit WDW. I am pumped!

The write up on DISchurners is a bit dated and I haven't had much time (or motivation with the death of CIP 3x on Plastiq) to update it, but there's still a lot of useful information about how it works in there. The big change is Plastiq no longer codes 3x UR when charged to the CIP. That changes the math whether it's worth it to use the service for ongoing (beyond MSR) spend. For MSR spend, if paying a 2.5% fee on a payment that doesn't otherwise accept credit cards helps you to meet MSR, then it's almost always worth it because the value of the signup bonuses on most credit card offers dwarfs the cost of the fee.

Find out if your property or income taxes can be paid with a credit card directly for less than a 2.5% fee. If not, Plastiq is a good option. You pay Plastiq the payment amount + a 2.5% fee, they charge your credit card for that total amount and send a check on your behalf. Allow 7-10 business days for the check to arrive. While Plastiq does have some limits on what can be paid using a Visa or Amex (but almost no limits on Mastercard and Discover) -- like mortgages or student loans, income or property taxes should be ok. Even with Amex, which has the most restrictive categories, taxes would fall under "government" and that's allowed.

Saw something about this a few days ago...so my DP on eBay fees and shipping...using the CIP.....shipping coded 3x, but for the first time Ebay fees didn’t

Hmmm. Chase is on a rampage gutting the usefulness of the CIP. My last set of eBay seller fees did code as 3x in Feb. Guess I will let March ride and see what happens. After the demise of Plastiq 3x, I wasn't planning to keep the CIP for either DH or me, but this just puts another nail in the coffin. Wonder what Chase is thinking....

Two things:
The sun’s out you guys! I haven’t seen it in 20 years but it’s finally here.

The teacher I talk disney with at school has been planning a big family trip (grandkids and kids) for about a year now. She booked the week after Labor Day thinking it would be less busy and today I felt bad bursting her bubble to tell her about SW opening.

Thanks for the DP, even if it's bad news. I'm really sorry to read this. This is the second time I'm seeing eBay seller's fees no longer earning 3x on the CIP. That's enough for me to change this month's billing over to Amex to help appease the RATs. Looks like I just made it, because my invoice was set to auto-pay sometime between today and 3/9.

Yep mine did too in February....decided to pay something small early to see what it would code this month...and unfortunately only 1x

I"m going to downgrade my CSR. I was planning on changing it to the CFU, but now I"m not sure. If it would happen to be unlimited again for new signups, I'd hate to miss it. I'm assuming that if I already held a CFU, I couldn't apply for another one??

Any other suggestions as to what to change to? DH has a CF, but honestly, we're not the greatest at maxing out the 5% categories, so I'm not sure we need another although I suppose that would be an option as well.

We currently have:

me:
01/19 Chase Ink Bus Preferred (Referred by DH)
08/18 AmEx Green Business (to close Gold Business w/o losing points)
08/17 Citi TY Premier
03/17 CSP (closed 4/18)
01/17 CSR (wanting to close now)

DH:
05/18 Chase Ink Bus Preferred
08/17 Citi TY Preferred
03/17 Chase SW Plus (closed)
03/17 Chase SW Premier (closed)
10/16 CSR
OLD - CF - DH also has a Chase Freedom card which he's had forever.

So, basically, I'm wanting to close my CSR and then I'll also be ready to get another card because I'm done with spend requirements on the CIP. We love UR points, but I was also thinking of possibly venturing into the Arrival or something similar. I"m not sure. We primarily fly out of STL, so Southwest is usually our best option for non-stop flights, but last year we also used lots of URs for international flights on United which worked out great, so I'm not against something like that either.

This past year (2018) was crazy busy at work and I unfortunately didn't have time to devote to working through signups, etc, but it's calmer now and I"m ready to start working on it again! Somewhat long term, I'm wanting to try to get the CO for myself for 2020 & 2021, so I'll want to hold a spot open for that.

Ok. I'm convinced it's true! Off to change mine to my BBP....

Wow, y'all are awesome! I have no doubt she's going to have the surgery if the ortho wants to operate. I was told when she was diagnosed by the cardiologist at Auburn that her life expectancy was 2-6 years (she was a year old at the time) and to keep her quiet, calm at all times and away from other pets and children. Well, I've embraced the quality over quantity mantra, switched vets because they wouldn't operate on her entropion and she's now 6 1/2 years old. She's a fighter and a survivor and if she dies on the table or post op because I'm trying to ensure a better quality of life then that's what happens. Thank you for your kind words of support, it's going to be a stressful week until the consultation and then if surgery is scheduled, more stress.

I appreciate the CC suggestions. I think I actually got approved for the Barclay AA Biz (not immediately approved, then received an email with congrats) so that could be $1000 (sorry @wendow!). I'm holding out for DH's recon with Chase to go well, then if that doesn't work, he might "need" a citi AA biz.

@WVMomof3 -so sorry to hear about your cat --the older they get the harder the surgery decision is, for sure.

@Judique -sorry about your cat, too:hug:...I think DD leaving the nest is making me somewhat more emotional and prone to spending money on DDog.
It's always easy to second guess yourself but it sounds like you wanted to make life better for kitty.

@platamama @elgerber @palhockeymomof2 -thanks for the kind words of hope!:grouphug:

I hate to agree with @SouthFayetteFan just on principle (LOL!) but this really is a great group of people and I'm happy to interact with y'all daily (drinking my diet dr pepper). I so appreciate your kind words.
I’m sorry your pup is hurting. But what a great testament to your love and care. :love:6 years is great! Can I ask, what kind of heart problem does she have?
My old pup is 15+ (rescue as an adult, no idea how old really) and she had a bad time a few years ago with autoimmune disease. She lost a ton of weight (like 40% of her body weight) but after finally getting a diagnosis and treatment, she bounced back. To everyone else, she probably still looks bad, but she does remarkably well, even playing with our new puppy. Our pets give us so much and I feel giving them as much of a chance as I can is my thanks to them.

Maybe I’m not thinking this through right so please tell me if I’m not but this 3% for a year but capped at 20k is actually only 30k above what you’d normally earn on 20k spend. That 30k is $300. When my dd got her cfu back in 11/18, she got 20k bonus after $500 spend. Wasn’t that a much better deal?? Knowing me, I’m missing something big here.

No, you're thinking this through right - I think I'm just excited about being 4/24 more than anything. Hopefully it's uncapped like it was last year. And it would be so nice for DH to have a card that he can spend on without always asking me. The other day he asks, "What card do I use for gas?" And I say, "The one that is labeled 'gas'." He's at 4/24 too.

Thanks for the info! I did not realize there was an additional annual fee for an authorized user. That's the first I've heard of anything like that. Probably will just let her apply for just the one card then.
Plus being an AU on her account will count against your 5/24.

This is what I plan on getting while at the bank. Yep, surprise DH I'm getting a business card too! :ssst:
My dh is used to the 'surprises'. I applied for him a citi AA biz card last night after he went to bed. I got a forwarded 'Congrats, you are approved!' email this morning with a note from him, "I see I have a new AA card. Am I on this grAAvy train you mentioned?" :rotfl:Yes dear, yes, you are :D
