Thanks for this reminder! I ALWAYS move my points to my CSR the instant I get them but when I downgraded the CSR to CF it didn't yet cross my mind to move them to the CIP. Done and done!

Sounds like it's time to combine my personal and business accounts.

So P2's Fico dropped by 38 points last month after hovering within 5 or 10 points for quite a while. Anyone have any reasons this might happen? Is it something to be worried about. I'm wondering if it has to do with one of the following:

She opened a CIC and spent over half of her CL last month. We don't carry balances but we do wait to pay statement balances around the due date.

Do you actually see the CIC on the credit report? That would be an odd (and interesting) data point.

That reminds me that the last time we stayed at the HoJo's, DH and I are sitting in bed and he looked at the nightstand and said "is that your Q-tip?" NO!! :crazy2:

That's pretty bad. Even a backed up toilet we encountered doesn't seem as bad. Thank goodness it occurred the morning we were leaving.

It's all bad but unexpected, while it also has it's challenges notifying people if they are out of town etc, I'd prefer it. Knowing it's going to happen and having to wait, going to bed each night not knowing if you'll get woken up with a phone call. It was worse once he went into hospice care because then you really know the timeline but are just sitting and waiting for the call.
My dad was sick for a few months, and hospitalized a couple times, before he was on hospice (he actually passed at home) I had close to a dozen calls one night, none of them good, and had to change my ringtone afterwards as every time I heard it I would start shaking.

There’s the issue. The home phone bill probably didn’t trigger the offer. The Amex Offer is for “AT&T Wireless for Business,” but paying a personal wireless line works too. My prepayments were towards my personal iPhone wireless line.

Glad to get it figured out. He paid the wireless tonight. Hopefully it'll post without any issues.

Thank you all so much for the kind words, condolences, and thoughts. It's truly appreciated. My grandma had just turned 85 in January and while she hasn't been in the best of health over the last few years, this was very sudden for us all. Having lost loved one both unexpectedly and after being sick over a good length of time, I'm honestly not sure if one is easier than the other. The one good thing is she did not suffer as it all happened so fast. Thank goodness for that!

Hoping we've gotten rid of the flu in our house. It really feels like I'm finding out another friend or family member has it almost every other day. My sister was diagnosed with it the same evening of my grandma's funeral, then her son just a few days after her. My SIL and BIL are at WDW with their family now and had to go to urgent care today. My nephew woke up with fever and tested positive for flu. They arrived Friday and are staying until Saturday. At least he got in a few park days. They plan to spend the rest of the week hold up in their cabin at the Fort.

As I'm getting nearer to our April trip, I really need to decide if I'm finally going to cash out my URs to my Chase checking to pay off that trip. I know I keep saying this, but I keep talking myself out of it. Thing is, I won't be using those URs for anything else (at least nothing I can think of at this point) and my primary purpose for them has always been Disney. It's been long enough that Disney hotels have been gone from the UR portal, you'd think I'd be over it and could just cash out. Every time I log on and I'm about to do it, I can't go through with it. Maybe I need to have DH go online and do the redemption for me. Guess I need to catch up on the GC thread to find some good deals there.

I am so sorry for your loss. :grouphug:

This is an important distinction really. My mom passed unexpectedly - went to work and collapsed. Then I spent the next 6 months watching my grandma give up and fade away. She'd been battling cancer for over 10 years.

DHs friend just lost his grandma, but they were expecting it so he made it out there to visit with her each day for almost a week. That was good for him and he made his peace with it (I'm not sure what was wrong with grandma).

Update on the dealership card---

I called and spoke with the lady at the dealership today; DH does not have to use that card. :) They're happy to have us use whatever card we want or to pay by check. :cool1:

I called the credit card company and explained what had happened. I asked if there was a way for us to not have the card, especially because we never activated it and DH had misunderstood the terms at the dealership. The lady said, "Oh that's no problem. I'll just cancel it. Done!"

While she was helpful, and I don't want the card. I'm afraid this will still probably count against DH's 5/24. In other news though, DH's tractor repair should easily meet my MSR on my new CIP. I'll refer him (if he still has an available slot) this fall and he can earn rewards, too.

Can we write off the AF on a business card as an expense?
Maybe you could try disputing it with the credit bureau

46 when she passed. Yesterday was her birthday and she would have been 53. I can't believe it's been that long...

My mom passed away 13 years ago at 62 years old. She never met my youngest as I did not have her yet. I still miss my mom.

If you’re already considering an Ink card, and also interested in the combined 100k UR you could get from a MDD of the CSP and CSR, I’m wondering if you might be interested in trying a self-referral from CIP#1 to get CIP#2 using your SSN for both and the middle initial method (for more info, check DISchurners).

This suggestion offers the best of both worlds because you go for another CIP that won’t add to your 5/24 count, get a 20k UR referral bonus and a 80k SUB (vs. a CIU for only 50k UR), on only $5k MSR (vs. a combined $8k MSR between the CSP and CSR). From your count, you’ve only got 2 Chase biz cards: the CIP is almost a year old (not that it seems to matter), and your last biz card was about 4 months ago. The middle initial method looks viable too, considering the increasing number of DPs about the SUB posting despite being within 24 months of the last CIP bonus and having (an)other open CIP(s).

If you really really want a CIU in your wallet, you could PC CIP#1 to a CIU. But I would probably just wait until May 2019 to close CIP#1 after a year and apply for the CIU separately for the 50k UR SUB.
An excellent suggestion AND He doesn’t even need to go the self refer route...P2 has a CIP so @DrFacilier could have her refer him.

Also should add that people have said the middle initial isn’t even necessary. People are straight up applying with the same name now and getting the bonus a second time.

It's crazy the number of people reporting CIP #3. I'm waiting to see the first DP of CIP #4. Are they really just not enforcing the 24 months restriction?? (rhetorical question, lol)

Similar to what happened to me. I had about 50% credit utilization on my CIU. MY credit report dropped by 23 points and both Credit Karma and Credit Secure noted my high utilization on my CIU. The name of the card was not mentioned but the amount was, so I knew exactly which card it was. I also pay my balance in full around the due date.

I’m not sure what to make of some of these recent reports on utilization. I’m not trying to dispute others experiences BUT None of my credit monitoring services are reporting anything related to biz card utilization.

I wonder if only high credit utilization are reported?

I wonder if you could get another CIP within the 24mo time period if you have closed your first one? Any DPs on that?

Interesting data point. Does the account opening date and credit limit match your CIU as well?

I can't explain your situation. I have never seen my wife's CIP, CIC or CIU cards appear on Credit Karma. She's had statement balances of $3,010; $2,749; $1,273; and $1,023 recently on those cards and it has no impact.

It's also worth noting that if you have a 700+ score you potentially shouldn't care about any of this. I check the score in one spot, 830, another 815, another 785; I don't really care. All I care about is getting approved for that next card. :) Most people don't churn in close proximity to purchasing a house so credit scores can largely be considered financial status symbols with no real meaning :)

I will also readily admit that I'm somewhat peculiar in my approach to finance and I never plan to borrow money again in my life at this point so I'm less sensitive to credit score moves than others may be.

That's what we're talking about. People are getting 2 and 3 CIPs using just their SSN in a year. No waiting, no 24 months...just reapply. Most seem to close the first one, I think I've also seen some where they left it open. They're just brazenly getting another one, and Chase is allowing, nay supporting it!
