he wrote an article how he bought a car using plastiq with a credit card earning 3x. That net him quite a bit of points to spend for travel.
His article wasnt getting enough hits so he managed to get a rather big website to publish his article, Chase kinda freaked out and removed the 3x. (big ego?)

now the rest of us have to suffer.

Oh wow! That's crazy. Thanks for the reply.

A lot of us here start with Chase cards and accumulate UR points since they can be used to book hotels, airfare DTC on the Chase travel site or transferred to partner airlines and hotels if you have a Chase CSP, CSR or CIP.
The spending requirements vary by card...but usually range from $3,000 to $5,000 in the first 3 months to get the bonus
If you’ve opened less than 5 credit cards in the past 24 months you can apply....would you consider opening a business card the CIP has the highest bonus 80k URs after a 5k spend

Thanks for your reply. I have the Chase saphire Reserve. I have about $1600 of rewards sitting there right now.

I opened the card when they offered 100k points. I primarily use my CSR and my Amex Hilton Honors cards.

Anybody else see DoC drop the hammer on people who shared referrals where they weren't allowed? Like dang! Top tip: do NOT share referrals on if DoC if they haven't been specifically allowed.

Well...at least when somebody’s links look wonky on DISchurners I don’t do that LOL! Good for DoC though - some people really abuse his process.

DoC has made it clear in the past when and where referrals are allowed to be posted; I think it's generous of him to do that. The people who don't pay attention to his website & his rules deserve to be disciplined, and the more people who torque him off are likely to make him do away with that altogether...which he has considered in the past.

Besides which, they can just join the congo line on FT if they want to do that.

Is today the last day for the SPG Personal? Still debating on what to do for DW. She is 2/24.

Yes. And it probably also depends what Amex cards DW already has, and if she has any Chase Marriott cards, and if not then whether the Chase route may be more preferable.

DW only has the freedom from a product change from the csp. So not sure what to do. I have the SPG Personal and was tempted to upgrade to the lux.

You have a nice amount of URs to book with.....my first UR redemption with my CSR was this past December...we booked the Wyndham Bonnet Creek...to visit my son and also the mouse...lol

Our district maxes at 5 makeup days. After that I guess they give up.
Every county is different here in MD. My county had 4 days built-in to the schedule but we used our 5th day today. So we’re scheduled to get out on 6/14 and the schedule says they will request a waiver from the state for extra days. We’ll see how that goes. One of the counties has a real Spring Break and isn’t using those days so the students there are scheduled to go through 6/21 and they are out of snow days. Another plus for private school in the fall, they end on 6/4 and don’t have this nonsense. Although I think the kids are expected to do online assignments when the school closes since they are required to have laptops.

Thats a nice amount, congrats! like others have recommended I'd do the CIP

I'm still not seeing any 1099s here from Chase or Amex. If I don't see it in Informed Delivery tomorrow morning, I'm filing tomorrow night. 13 days past the deadline is enough time to send me something.

No 1099s here either. I guess we are small potatoes and they didn't bother.

They are hard! I hadn't done puzzles in years, but BIL gave me this set for Christmas last year.

So far I've done the Dwarves last Christmas and then this year at Christmas I just felt inspired to do a puzzle so I did Mickey and Minnie in one night... I thought my eyes would fall out from looking at flowers.

Then we got these two, I think last January on our trip. Or maybe the castle in WDW last January and RSR in DLR last April. What's funny is DH was more of the instigator of the purchases, but he's not much of a puzzle person and did not help with either kinkade so far.

Actually, now I feel like doing a puzzle so maybe I'll break one out tonight.

Fun! DD and I love puzzles. I have 2 of those Kinkaid Disney 4-packs, and I've done them all a few times. We don't hang up puzzles here, we just wait a while and put it together again.

From the chatter, it looks like AA changed their coding for gift cards sometime after 2/4, and now list their purchase as “gift certificate” in the details.

Tagging @calypso726 (who I know buys AA GCs).

Any DPs for SW or Delta?

No. No. No. No. No. :sad2:

I'm thankful we did our $800 worth last month, but this is just sad.

My friends bought this puzzle. I don't think it will ever get finished, maybe half done and they have lost interest in it.

Oh I saw that one on the shop Disney site and I want it!!! But OMG I'm not going to pay that much money for a puzzle.

TPG notices all the chatter about the Amex airline fee credit not working on something they know it’s technically not supposed to work on. Asks AA, and writes an article about it.

Seriously? What a jerk. I don't like how he's getting rich at everyone else's expense. Too bad that reddit group is open - sounds like he gets too much info from there.

Obviously :badpc::badpc::badpc:
When I read @Lain’s message I immediately thought “I wonder if @amalone1013 will post a bunch of her faves in response!”

Today is the last day to get both the Chase Marriott Biz and the Amex SPG Personal. Both have 75k Marriott points bonuses and $3k MSRs.

Here is where it gets tricky. Marriott, together with their issuing partners Chase and Amex, came up with a bunch of rules that went into effect on 8/26/18. Under these rules, you either qualify for a signup bonus or not based on what Marriott/SPG cards you have open, have opened in the last 90 days, and what bonuses you've gotten on the Starriott cards in the past 24 months. For more: Navigating Marriott’s Byzantine Credit Card Rules.

Under these rules, it appears getting the Marriott Biz first may not preclude you from getting the bonus on the SPG Personal. See my post on that here. However, getting the Marriott Biz would disqualify DW from getting a bonus on the SPG Biz as long as she holds the Marriott Biz, and from the bonus on the SPG Lux for 24 months after the bonus posts on the Marriott Biz. Getting the SPG Personal would disqualify DW from getting the Marriott Premier Plus as long as she holds the SPG Personal.

As a practical matter, in order for DW to get the bonus on the Marriott Biz, she can't have had the SPG Personal in the last 30 days. Since Amex approvals (assuming DW doesn't get the pop up) are usually instantaneous, whereas Chase business applications can take days to approve, it's very likely DW would be approved for the SPG Personal before the Marriott Biz, and therefore disqualify herself from the bonus on the Marriott Biz. So if DW decides to make a FOMO application on the Chase Marriott Biz or the Amex SPG Personal, she'll have to choose one lane, and be subject to the post-8/26 rules based on that choice.

I'm short on time, so I'll repost some thoughts I had about this choice from a few weeks ago.

I was a big proponent of going the Amex SPG route because they had 3 cards (and SUBs) vs. Chase's 2. But the SPG Personal is being discontinued after 2/12/19. The Marriott Biz is being discontinued after 2/12/19. If you're not going to be able to get all 3, and realistically looking at just 2 of Amex's SPG cards (the Biz and the Lux, which are sticking around for the indefinite future), then why not just get Chase's 2 Marriotts (the Biz and the Premier Plus) now and worry about maybe getting Amex's cards 2+ years from now? I also wonder at this point, if focusing on Chase for Marriott cards might take off some pressure to spend on Amex. Chase doesn't really care about ongoing spend (so drop the CL on the Marriott Biz down to $1k eventually if you want to open up room for more Chase biz cards); Amex does.

You may be tempted to have DW apply for the SPG Personal because you could refer her, but as this appears to be DW's first card with Amex she needs to be very careful with Amex. If you're planning to keep opening Amex cards for their bonuses, you need to keep Amex happy by putting continued spend on the cards you already have. If Amex sees a drop-off in your spend after you've met MSR and received a bonus, they'll assume you're a gamer who is only opening their cards for the bonus and may flag your account with a pop up that appears on future applications and denies you a bonus on any new cards based on your "history." (Personal anecdote, my wife opened only 2 Amex cards, kept spending on them after she got the bonuses, but her spending dropped off from the thousands she spent a month while meeting MSR to a few hundred every month, and got the bonus denial pop up while trying to apply for her third Amex card.) While the SPG Personal's MSR is only $3k in 3 months, it might be best to spread out your spend so that your monthly statements are more even, rather than paying one or two big expenses and hitting the MSR fast, then sock drawing the card. And keep putting spend on your Amex cards. I'd hate for you to get the pop up when you're ready to apply for another Amex.

A few more thoughts. Referrals can have tax implications. So while you could refer your wife to the SPG Personal, you may end up receiving a 1099 for the value of that referral come tax time next year. Also, since your wife does not have any Amex cards, she might be a target for a big Amex welcome offer like a 100k MR bonus on the Amex Platinum, and signing up for the SPG Personal could make your wife no longer a new customer that Amex wants to target with a big offer.

I feel like a lot of folks are taking a hard look at the Chase Marriott Biz before it's discontinued because it is essentially the same card as the SPG Biz. Both currently have 75k Marriott points signup bonuses after $3k MSR, both earn 35k FN certs after one year (Chase's posts promptly on your card anniversary vs. Amex posts 6-8 weeks after your AF posts, forcing you to pay the AF if you want the FN). The big difference is in the AF. The SPG Biz has a $95 AF, waived in the first year if you apply by 2/12/19; but the SPG Biz AF is going up to $125 (in March?). The Marriott Biz has a $99 AF, not waived in the first year, but also not slated to increase.

If you have more questions, just reply.

As for your SPG Personal, don't upgrade to the Lux without an upgrade offer. You'll disqualify yourself from ever getting a signup bonus on the Lux without the points to make up for it from an upgrade offer. If you want the Lux, sign up for it separately. If that doesn't work with your 5/24 count if you still plan to get Chase cards, wait until you're over 5/24 because the SPG Lux isn't going away (it's just being rebranded).

P.S. I’d add that if you have to choose the Marriott Biz or the SPG Personal, the Marriott Biz won’t add to DW’s 5/24 count and she can eventually get the rebranded Marriott Premier Plus before she’s over 5/24. If and when she’s ready for what will become of the SPG Biz and Lux, she can (get and) cancel the Chase Marriott cards over the course of the next two years. The SPG Personal will add to DW’s 5/24 count and leave her with less flexibility to get the Marriott card from Chase while she’s still under 5/24.

Yep, they give them thick cases. K-2 ipads, 3-5 notebooks
Wow, that’s awesome. Heck, they don’t even have laptops for all of the classes in DS’s middle school and the elementary school had one or two carts that are shared by all grades. The county went to a BYOD policy but the teachers and administrators don’t even recognize it and don’t the students use their own.
