I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

@Lain is correct since this one is listed on the resort page. I just wanted to add the following for anyone thinking of getting this card. The $250 credit is only going to work at Hilton resorts. It's card anniversary year not calendar year. Not all Hiltons are considered a resort and resort doesn't necessarily need to be in the name of the hotel. For example, the Hilton Bonnet Creek in Orlando is a listed resort. Hilton does have a list of resorts that you can search. The credit can be used towards your hotel stay as well. This card is part of my long term plan to visiting Hilton Tokyo Bay in Japan when visiting TDL and TDS every few years

I believe this is the list of places you can use it: https://www3.hilton.com/en/resorts/index.html?WT.mc_id=zkdCSAA0US1CI2REP4Resorts5US7BR840893

From what I've read, the credit will cover whatever is charged to the hotel, but I always like to verify that I'm understanding everything correctly with those I trust here ;)

Amex reportedly sending out 1099s for referral bonuses. Only one person so far but.... [insert bad language of your choice here] https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/aloevw/discussion_thread_january_31_2019/efga3pz/

ETA: comments on reddit lots of people are getting them soon as seen in informed delivery. Appear to be going out for all cards folks. 1cpp on everything except for Hilton which is 1.25cpp.

Wow, if this is real, then stick a fork in Amex.

ETA: Seriously, 1cpp? Amex only gives .6c/MR if you redeem for cash!!!

Wow. Amex REALLY doesn't want people to get their credit cards anymore...

Crap! I just signed up for 10K for pay over time. Will that trigger a 1099 for next year? Or is this only for referrals (which I think I also got for referring DH for his platinum).

Guess I'll wait to do my taxes since thr last thing I need is coming today but how would this work with a biz card? I add the rental to my reg properties so the same as that but so weird and annoying.

Anyone ever tried buying shell gift cards and putting them in the shell app to pay later? I'm considering maxing out the CF category this way but I want to be able to pay with the app at the pump with fuel rewards and stop and shop points.

You should be able to enter your phone number that is linked to your S&S account and fuel rewards before applying payment with a giftcard. I do this and never found the need to use the Shell app. I just stock up on GCs and use at the pump directly after I punch in my phone #.

It was just hysterical to me. I still find myself saying "run like the wind fat man" on random occasions. lol The very last one talked about on that thread was also good, the one with God talking to the lady who lost her top. But I can't find that one again.

I've only read the first post because I've got stuff to do but so funny. And clearly he doesn't understand women cause you can totally be late to Target. :rotfl2:but I can't even imagine finding a possum in the car and thrn knowing it had been there the entire day. I have enough problem with a bee buzzing around while I'm doing 70 on the freeway, the one time I wished for power windows.

Hilton at 1.25 cpp????? What are they smoking? That's gotta be some good stuff there to come up with that valuation.

I can see MR at 1cpp, there are several redemption options that get at least 1cpp so it's a good middle/average number there for a valuation. I can't come up with an argument to back up 1.25 on Hilton. Even the transfer rate is 1:2! So if we've established that MR = 1cpp wouldn't that mean Hilton is automatically .5 cpp? I freely admit I suck at math but I'm pretty sure I got that one right.

Hmmm would Amex want to see you continue to spend upwards of $3,500 monthly just on this one card past the MSR to keep the RAT happy?

yes, this is what we believe currently...

I'm planning on going for the Schwab Plat soon since my Personal Plat is up for renewal in May. However, I may try to frontload and see if I 1.) get the pop-up and 2.) get denied the bonus. My last was the Gold in December and bonus posted two weeks ago. To date, since last January, I've gotten 7 Amex cards (4 biz and 3 personals). I've put nearly zero spend on the Lux and Hilton Biz post bonus, but the Plats have gotten a few uses between offers and for the purchase protection benefit (those items are now well past the purchase protection timeframe and I can live without the extended warranty if I cancel). My ED, BCP, and SPG Biz get fairly routine spend, so we shall see. Will report back once I pull the trigger.

It's real. Too many comments confirming similar letters in people's informed deliveries.

I'm one of those who saw two Amex envelopes in my informed delivery email this am. Was wondering why and what they could have been earlier, but now, this explains it...

Wow. Amex REALLY doesn't want people to get their credit cards anymore...

Well, they would still like you to get their CC, just not through your friend so they have to pay them a commission... or, ya know, yourself. And if they can avoid paying the bonus on those cards, that would be swell too.
We want you to want the card, and want to use the card, cuz it's shiny. Be above all those material possessions such as points and miles, just enjoy the shiny... or this commissioned artwork

Geez Amex. DW and I both maxed referrals on a couple MR cards, so ouch.

I kind of get it. SUBs are considered a rebate and are not taxable, but referrals from all issuers are indeed taxable. It's just unusual to get anything for them. Bleh.

I don't get it, why start now? The only instance we have of this is Chase in 2017 who eventually ended up issuing corrected 1099s for $0 but some people went through a couple 1099s from Chase for their referrals before they got to $0. Chase obviously found reasons not to do this, and Amex previously found reasons not to, so WT$ went wrong with Amex this year?

Omg, if we go through all this to find out they had a computer glitch...
