LOL am I the only one here still putting 3 months between Chase cards :rotfl2:

:wave::wave::wave::wave:

My last Chase app was at the end of July for the CIP, and got the Amex Plat in Nov. Spend is done on that and I want to get something else, since I am getting rid of my CSR once my AF hits. I was thinking it might be a good idea to get something else around 3 months after my Amex.

It does appear like you need to have at least some AA miles to even look. My wife could not login because she has 0 AA miles.

I at least feel better that it's not just me lol

This is interesting because I had 0 miles for a few years after I stupidly let them expire and had no problem logging in in all that time. I only received miles last Nov after I picked up the Barclays card and I definitely logged in during that application to confirm I had the right AA number to use. Maybe it's the age of account or something? I had that account forever but it was originally a USAir one that converted. Or something that's new?

I just did SW biz just over two months after ciu on advice from @SouthFayetteFan. It worked:) A little nervous about going for a personal sw card in a few months because i’ve gotten three chase business cards (but no personal cards) since May. I’m thinking by April I’ll give it a shot.

Yeah I actually haven’t gotten a personal card for myself since 10/17 which is crazy to think about! I would feel comfortable getting a personal card with Chase right now, but I’m going to wait and see if there’s an increased offer for maybe Marriott or Hyatt again sometime soon and do that.

I think we're specifically talking about the "hotel search" page. You can login to your regular AA account but if you go to the hotels page it asks you to login again. It won't let my wife login there saying she needs to earn or buy miles first.

This is the same for me. I figured it was because I have 0 miles. Hopefully not for too much longer though :)

Gotcha, I never paid attention to the little note at the top telling me to login :) I see it now but apparently 10 miles is not enough to get exclusive rates either

My last card was 1/2018
DH's was 8/2018

I am also waiting - keeping my 2 Chase slots and DH's 3 slots open, hoping for some increased offers too - CFU, United or IHG

Konmari is taking over the world! I read that some donation centers are getting so overwhelmed by the konmari effect that they’re begging people to stop donating things right now. :lmao:
.....and this is why I'm shopping more than ever right now:rotfl: truth? I am decluttering a bunch of older stuff I no longer want or use, but at the same time,I have updated what I really like and want,so I'm scoring on my thrift shopping...thank you Marie Kondo- :rotfl2:

Using AA Miles to pay for Disney Vacations
  • Go to this website: https://www.useaamiles.com/carhotel/
  • If you aren't logged in you'll want to do so - when not logged in you will see the following message:
    • Log In Now: AAdvantage® elite status members and co-branded credit cardholders enjoy exclusive rates.
That is absolutely true - the rates are significantly lower if you qualify!
  • Do a Hotel search for dates for Orlando Florida. When they come up there will be numerous resorts...
  • Type in “Disney’s” into the filter box to only pull Disney Resorts (make sure to include the 's as some off-property hotels use the word Disney in their description
  • Then check out what's available!
  • If Disney is running a room only promotion, those rates will kick in too so you can stack a Disney discount with using AA Miles
  • You'll find that AA Miles are worth 1cpp towards hotels (but only 0.6cpp if you aren't logged in and/or don't qualify for the exclusive rates)
Here's a couple of examples:

TRAVEL DATES 11/2 – 11/7

Yacht Club – Garden or Woods View
  • $2,945.25 on Disney website (no promo rate)
  • 296,000 AA Miles when logged in (1cpp)
  • 493,200 AA Miles not logged in (0.6cpp)
TRAVEL DATES 9/9 – 9/14
Pop Century – Standard View
  • $608.41 – Sun and Fun Offer on Disney site (promo rate)
  • 61,200 AA Miles when logged in (1cpp)
  • 101,900 AA Miles not logged in (0.6cpp)
So you can see that the ~1cpp holds on both regular pricing and promotional rates. Hotel availability may vary from the Disney site BUT a ton of hotels were available on the Sept dates.

Resorts that were available on the AAdvantage website for the Example Sept Week
  • Disney's Pop Century Resort
  • Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort
  • Disney's All Star Music Resort
  • Disney's Port Orleans Resort French Quarter
  • Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
  • Disney's Art of Animation Resort
  • Disney's All Star Movies Resort
  • Disney's All Star Sports Resort
  • Disney's BoardWalk Inn
  • Disney's Coronado Springs Resort and Spa
  • Disney's Grand Floridian Resort Spa
  • Disney's Port Orleans Resort Riverside
  • Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa
  • Disney's Yacht Club Resort
  • Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge
  • Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas Kidani Village
  • Disney's Wilderness Lodge
  • Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
  • Disney's Old Key West Resort
  • Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground
  • Disney's Beach Club Resort
  • Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort
  • Disney's BoardWalk Villas
  • Disney's Contemporary Resort
CAN I ADD DINING AND TICKETS?
If others want to do more research on this...have at it. It appears to me that you CAN add tickets and dining but you have to be booking an AA package. That means you need to be booking one of the following combos:
  • Flight + Hotel
  • Hotel + Car
  • Flight + Car (this one makes no sense...for this whole discussion though)
If you were not planning to book a flight or car then this probably is a dud. If anybody can figure out if I'm missing something here, please let me know though!! If you were booking a flight or car to begin with, it's worth noting that the park tickets were the flexible tickets meaning you're paying the highest price. This may work for folks booking during an expensive price season but be a bad deal for those going during lower priced time periods. Both dining and ticket pricing seemed to be slightly less than 1cpp so this may not be a great deal for anybody. It looks like you could add either/or without doing the other so there is flexibility.

Hopefully this helps those thinking about earning AA Miles towards Disney! I will include this in the new Disney thread when I put it up on DISchurners.
WOWOWOWOWOW

Train of thought moment... “ugh... Pats like win everything right? Footballgate?... no, Deflategate!... Hey :( new team should win! They’re playing the Saints? Wait. I know that name... They beat the Rams! Stupid Saints!! I was trying to sell my Rams tickets from that bank account bonus and the Saints beat them!... GO PATS! I don’t think I’ve ever watched an entire football game but I’m feeling slightly invested this year after I sold those bank bonus Rams tickets. The things I’ve learned about by chasing bank bonuses...”
Well I suck at football and apparently the Rams are headed to the Super Bowl? After beating* the team that broke their winning streak earlier this year no less. This appears to be what google is telling me. So then GO RAMS! See football world? If you want to go to the Super Bowl team up with a credit union and offer bank account bonuses!

ETA* oh woah. some say beat, some say stole... Now that I read what happened this entire situation is just awkward. And I thought all the drama was in the Pats game from your chatting last night!
