What if you just transfer the money into your regular checking out? That’s what I do and then pay my bills from there. Don’t get discouraged!

That will work? If I can do that I can use it to pay my HELOC. Do you think it’s a factor in accts getting shut down? You’d mentioned something a while back about closing and opening Serve accts every month or two. Is that why? Thanks for your help! I do really want to make this work.

I’m also thinking through long term plans today. I’m at 3/24 until Oct 2020. P2 is 2/24 until Aug 2020. As long as the CIP continues to be an option, I’ll only be getting 1 more personal card. In the fall probably. Aspire or Amex Plat if I can get a good offer. Assuming no pop ups. I only have the BCP and HHBiz from Amex right now, and I’m trying to keep spending on them between MSR’s. BCP is easy because P2 and all 3 kids are AU’s. The HHBiz is a little trickier.

Speaking of Amex, maybe someone can tell me, what is the allure of the BBP? It doesn’t look like there’s a SUB? Is it just for a place to park your MR’s?
That plus no fee and 2x points on everything

oh and there is a bonus I believe through referral of 10,000. @Lain , is this the one that's doubled?

For the BBP it's a no AF card that earns 2x MR points on every purchase up to 50k per year and doesn't take up a 5/24 spot to open. It's kind of the ultimate park your MRs card :)

There is a sign up bonus if you use a support link. You should see it from your BCP support link, 10k MR after 3k in spend. There are sometimes targeted offers of 20k MR after 3 or 5k in spend. I think DoC mentioned another sighting relatively recently for those.

@vanjust14 summed it up well. 2x MR on everything up to $50k/year. $0 AF. You need at least one open MR-earning card to keep your MRs alive. The public offer has no SUB. There’s a targeted offer of 20k MR that DoC covered about a week ago. But a self-support could be better because the support offer is 10k MR, plus whatever support bonus you get from your supporting card, which is 10k MR from a Gold or BBP, 15k MR from the Plat or Biz Plat, and 20k from the BGR/Biz Gold.

I'm looking forward to hearing how this works for you. Do they get your passwords and move the points and do the booking for you? Or just tell you the best option? I'm curious since I can see value in this for really hard-to-find seats. But then I'd worry that they could mess up, too. I have that concern when booking a CL room and letting them make all my ADRs for me but it's always worked out.

We aren't going to take any *action* until June 17, so I'll know more then about the exact logistics after that, but my understanding from talking to James is that I will go ahead and transfer my Amex MR to Qantas (assuming our game plan doesn't change in the next week and a half), because he prefers that I do not give him access to my Amex account (which I totally agree with). Then I believe what will happen is that I will give him the login info for my Qantas account so he can go ahead and do the actual booking for me (since I will be on a plane when the JAL booking window opens). I am also going to give him my cc info for my CSR and my Plat so he has a couple of options to pay the taxes and fees associated with the award booking. I'm giving him multiple options because he commonly sees the cc companies send a verification code when there is a transaction in foreign currency, and unless I have access to really good wifi on my flight, I won't be able to receive a text alert and respond. If both cards ask for verification and he can't get them to go through, he offered to put the taxes and fees on his own cc, and I will reimburse him, which I thought was awesome. Obviously it would be nicer not to give him my cc info, but ccs can be cancelled if there is fraud, and I don't have any recurring payments on either of those cards that would be impacted by a cancellation (and thanks to this game, I have plenty of other cc options to use on our trip if I have to cancel one or both of those cards). And the only miles I will have in my Qantas account will be the ones for this transaction, so there is a limit to the risk there, although as I've mentioned before, everything so far seems very aboveboard. That just leaves the risk that I move my points to Qantas and he can't get me what I want, but I feel like he will make it right by getting me something else.

And thinking on it more, @Limes96 , should have said that it's not necessarily the first MR card that you'd want to open. It is a low bonus - I imagine because they made it attractive for other reasons - and could skew your chances of the Platicorn.(why give you 100k when you'll take 10k? ) But speaking of, doesn't your DH have that? If so then ignore my mention of your BCP, cross or self support from his Plat when it's time to open (assuming the landscape isn't changed, of course, hehe)

The only real downside here of course is it will take until statement close to see if the credit posts. But then again, you won't get your miles until statement close either, so waiting for the first statement for credit effectively means you are at least 2 statements away from the bonus.

If spending $2k in a month is relatively easy, I'd probably do that. But if you're working MSR on other cards, I think the suggestion for a small AA GC and wait it out is better.
Yeah looks like either way I’d have to wait for one statement close. I think I’ll just spend the 2k right away. DH is in Amex pop up hell and I’m holding out until July for CIP3 so I’m kinda bored anyways!

I followed in your footsteps and just applied and was approved for Citi Biz#2 on the 40K $250 statement offer. I didn't want to spend $75 on a mailer or fight for one on reddit. I'm too cheap, haha. We can be some more DP's for our Dis friends. Good luck!
Nice! East coast representing!!! What did you do for your first offer?

Yes! I did the 40k, $200 statement credit ( that was the statement credit being offered at the time) through a dummy booking.

Here’s the direct link to generate your Amex support link. Once you login you select what card you want to generate a link FROM (for me it’s my Platinum since it offers 15K MR). When the person you send the link to (or you if you’re self supporting) uses the link they will first be presented with the card you generated the link from but will see an option to explore other support offers including business cards like the BPP. I just did this with P2’s Platinum so I could get the Delta Gold SkyMiles Business card.

glad you were able to get flights and that they gave you vouchers so easily. lately they have been cancelling flights a lot out of BWI for some reason. DH's flights to LAX were canceled in Jan and Feb and no notification. No compensation either which is a bummer

That is strange indeed. As a matter of fact, nearly all but 2-3 of the 7-8 nonstop flights from MCO to BWI the following day were cancelled. We actually got lucky the original time we wanted to rebook for sold out before we chose it because that ended getting cancelled as well! And we only saw that at the gate when boarding our 9:35am. We saw flights one after another getting cancelled one at a time and we breathed a sigh of relief.

I tweeted SW and they told me to DM them. I dropped “not such a magical trip” and they told me to reach out after I completed my flight, which I did. I’m convinced I’ll be tweeting any issues from now on versus trying at the counter. It was easier and timely. I got a respond within 2 hours each tweet.

Hopefully this will not happen to you again...but...it is possible to rebook online with the CP

We were down in Orlando at the same time...our flight home on SW was also cancelled..and DH is my companion....

was able to rebook online by cancelling my DHs companion reservation....then changing my flight to another.....and adding him back on to the new flight as my companion
I did have to call SW to get a refund of the EBCI paid on the original flight for both of us

We are also getting vouchers.....have not received them yet....have yours arrived ?

That’s helpful to know. It must have been the CP throwing the error, but it was such a blur I just wanted to secure seats as things kept selling out. I learned something new :)

We got both sets of vouchers for the departure and return issues within 1-2 days of the agent confirming them over Twitter DM. You should have received them by now I would think. I also need to combine them just for ease, so will prob see if I can find a flight to do so with :)

So it looks like in the next few days/couple weeks I will be buying a new laptop and insurance payment will be due so figured now might be a good time to apply that spend towards min spend on a new card. My question is, any particularly lucrative offers I could take advantage of right now? Min spend of up to $5k should not be an issue and I am currently below 5/24.

What I currently have:
CSR
CFU
CF
Disney VISA
Discover It
United Explorer
Amex BBP
Amex Amazon
Amex Delta Gold
Alaska Visa
Jetblue Plus
Citi Doublecash
Amtrak Mastercard

As for hotels, I don't stay in them too often during the year but currently have Silver with both Hilton and Marriott thanks to AAA membership

Most of my miles are with United and points with UR but given one of my new purchases will be a laptop, I'm thinking of using a card with good extended warranty coverage.

Yes, I found DH the rare and beautiful Platicorn last October so I jumped on it. I doubt we’ll keep it though. Will need to figure out what to PC to. If I would be lucky enough to pull up the 100k for the Plat myself in November/December that would be great! But I’d be happy with 75k. I’m scared to ever go to Cardmatch on the off chance I’ll get a good one time offer and have to pass on it.

People don’t know what makes serve shut down accounts. Idk if it is transferring to a bank account. I’d sign up for 5 cards and keep the ones you aren’t using inactive and then when the one gets shut down you have other accounts to use.

This isn't the highest sign up offer at 50,000, but the Citi Premier has a good extended warranty and annual fee is waived first year.

Ok I thought so. Is DH adverse to Biz cards? Because that would be a good card for him to self support before you cancel the Plat. That way he has a MR earning card open to keep the MR pool open and it'll earn 2x MR when you use it. Else you're looking at the Everyday card if you don't want a AF (unless I'm forgetting one). Anything he could PC to would have an AF, there aren't any $0 AmEx charge cards.

It would be a great card for DH, actually. It can be his “everything else” category card. Also the Arrival+ for would be good for “everything else” I think. He just texted me yesterday...”what do I use at the tractor store? It’s not one of my categories and they don’t take American Express.”

I was doing the same.....trying to book quickly since there was only 1 nonstop flight MCO to ISP and they were showing 3 seats left while I was on hold....figured there was nothing to lose by cancelling DHs ticket since the flight was cancelled anyway....glad it worked since in the 5 minutes it took for them to pick up the flight was sold out
I tweeted SW on Monday...and just did again today....they are saying the vouchers should arrive in a day or two...I have a feeling the rep on Monday didn’t put things through correctly
