Update on my apply for new Amex cancel old one dilemma. The number that popped up is “customer care.” Called the number and they are closed on Sundays. I guess I will try to find time sometime tomorrow to call in. :(

Calling any PNC bank bonus players. When is it safe to close that account? I've already downgraded to the lowest account and only have $500 sitting there.

The bonus I did last year has an early account termination fee of $25 if closed before 6 months. So I think you’re safe to close out after that timeframe. I did the same as you, downgraded to lowest and kept $500 in there.

Thanks. I'll mark my calendar for next month.

Jk we love you! You're awesome!

Roy@creditmasterfix com helped me achieve a 800+ within a few days. Legit and effective.

The above post is SPAM, but worth commenting on.

There is no quick "fix" to bad credit, and anyone offering such services is doing something either borderline shady, illegal, or outright scamming you, and could leave you even worse off.

Here's a cautionary tale from just a few days ago about these so-called credit repair services:

Its been a long time of missing out on offers and self referrals and I really want to apply for an Amex while I wait for my next Chase business card. What is currently the best "starter" card? I remember the BBP being recommended awhile back since it has no fee and can hold MRs. It doesn't seem like there is any bonus for it right now and since I sadly have no other Amex cards, there is no way to get a referral yet. The 100,000 business platinum may be a little much for me to attempt right now. I see the 50,000 offer for the personal gold and IDK if its worth going for since its elevated from the traditional 35,000? I can use the $100 airline incidental reimbursement on JetBlue luggage this year and the $120 at Cheesecake Factory because I do lunch there monthly with a friend. I am 2/24 so one personal slot doesn't seem like the end of the world. Would the personal gold be a bad move? I figure then I at least have something to refer from.

I plan on traveling to California from the East coat in fall of 2020 so I guess earning for that would be my next "goal." For me, that means traveling with either United or Alaska which I know is limited by Chase and BoA.

I think Lain covered it really well but I thought I'd chime in on the Plat and the personal Gold. I have them both. I was lucky enough to get the $100K MR offer on the platinum card and took it. If you can get that offer, it's probably worth the AF and high spend. I was going to mention how the lounges are such a nice addition, but it sounds like you won't be using them. Other than the huge SUB, though, I have to say that the Gold might be a better keeper card. That 4x on food really adds up quickly. I find I'm putting more spend on my Gold than I do on my Platinum. And the MSR was easier to make. I personally think it's worth giving up a personal slot for the Gold card.

I just signed up for a local 5k next week and a half marathon in Sept. which finished off the spend for Barclay AA biz. I need to start figuring out a path of where I’m going next.
My Dh who can’t stand Disney actually agreed yesterday to a 2021 disney trip after watching Tim Trackers galaxy edge coverage. Our last trip was probably around 6000-7000 with 2/3 covered by URs and SW points and the rest with discounted gift cards.
I want to go for the CIP but I just don’t know if I can meet the high spend for that. I think I’m going to wait a few weeks to make a plan.

Sign up for the CIP when you know you have a large bill coming in. That will help with the spend. I did it when we had an insurance bill due. DH got CIP #2 right before we went to the east coast and between some of our expenses there, a large shipping expense to move DD's stuff back to CA, and our regular bills we were able to make the MSR pretty quickly.

I've been lurking for a while and am also a member on DISchurners. I think I need advice for my next moves. Here is what I have -

02/17 AmEx Marriott Bonvoy
04/18 Chase Sapphire Preferred
04/19 Citi AAdvantage Business

05/19 Barclays AAdvantage Aviator Business - I thought I was denied but received a letter asking me to send in ID info. Has anyone received the card after sending in the info?

I also have very old Citi Thank You and Dividend, Chase Freedom and Disney (just upgraded), Cap One Quicksilver, Lowes and Best Buy. I currently carry a small balance on Best Buy with 0% interest.

I put about $1000 a month on CC's.

I don't travel often but when I do it is with my DD and DGS (who just turned 18). We don't fly because I am a reluctant flyer and DD is in the no way category. We drive to Disney and would probably use Amtrak for longer distances.

My only definite plans right now is a 2021 trip to WDW for the 50th. This is why I jumped on the grAAvy train. I'm not sure how far it will take me with limited spend and no access to mailers. I also hope to do a RCCL cruise using UR's someday but am only about 1/3 of the way there. I don't think I can make the MSR on the CIP but am thinking about the CIC or CIU. Can I do both? I also want to start collecting Hilton points but not sure of the options. More Marriott points would be great but again not sure how to amass them with my spend. Amtrak CC is also on my radar for a possible trip to Disneyland some day.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You guys are a great group and I enjoy reading this board!

I received the Barclays card after sending in my info! I did have to call and follow up to make sure it was received, but I was approved on the phone when I did.

Arghhhh just went to check DHs score on credit karma. Says TU score dropped 44 points! What the heck. So I look, he magically has a derogatory mark - a collection has showed up. Says it was opened December of 2012. WHATTTTTTT WHY IS IT JUST SHOWING UP NOWWWWWWWWW.
It's saying it's from the trash service while DH was in college, he moved out of that house in Summer 2012. Honestly, I could see him missing the last trash bill or something at that time, I know he had trouble with Comcast getting the account cancelled. So it could be true. But then why would it just be there now?????????????? It says this collections agency opened it in Dec 2012. The only way I can think to try and prove it was paid is if we can get his old bank statement and find a payment, but it only goes to 36 months online and I'm not seeing any easy way to request older ones like my bank has.

I forgot to add these:

Yep, pretty much just that. After using the initial 3, keep pulling more one at a time. The con is that it requires a lot of refreshing so your stare at your phone the entire trip. I’d subscribe to Kenny the pirate’s character locator. I never did because I knew most of his tricks already (like how to get so many FP), but a couple days before my trip discovered there is some info in there I didn’t know that proved useful.

Thanks! I checked out the character locator and I see that you have to pay for it. Is it worth getting if we don't care about characters that much and we don't want a touring plan?

I was just checking my links over on DISchurners for the bank bonus tips and noticed a couple things -

The PNC $200/$300 checking offer has been renewed until Sep 30.
The current $600 Chase checking + savings offer expires Jun 3 - fingers crossed for a renewal there!
The Schwab support links aren't auto-populating the offer field like they were before. If you get a link from a friend be sure to manually add their ID code into the offer box, it's listed at the end of the URL after "?refrid="
(I noticed some mentions of issues on r/churning, so I walked through my link and I'm guessing that might be the problem. but once I add the code in manually it says the offer is attached. as long as you screenshot that, you should be good)

Yes. I didn't care about either of those things either. I'm not allowed to share what I learned there, but there is useful info even for me as a disney veteran. This particular info, I did not even know was a thing.

Hmm, now I'm intrigued. Could you pm me? I'm on the reddit board too if you need to do it there.
🤔

Why do my emojis keep showing up on the next row?? I can't figure out how to get them between the words. I'm posting from a desktop.

No, the terms of membership say I can't tell you what is there. Sorry. :( It makes sense why you can't share the info though. It is info on getting those hard to get FP on the same day...and it isn't the same refresh method that is more widely known.
